  1. This isn't stopping anytime soon. We're about to get on a serious roll.
  2. He is. He started off slow and his plate discipline numbers were a little out of whack. But he's been himself for awhile now and has just been getting BABIP'd. He had stretches like that last year, too. He seems to either be blazing hot or just... a little off. I think he's going to get real hot now.
  3. I bet it will pick up once everyone realizes #wearestillgood
  4. It wasn't quiet until they started winning games this week. Hahaha. Hey, game threads weren't even getting past five when we lost back to back games to the Cardinals. True. Strange. The Yankees series had active game threads. And the non-game threads seem to be getting decent activity.

  6. FWIW, DRS had Schwarber at -5 since about the 7th game of the season, and has barely fluctuated since. It seemed way out of whack to me early on. I'd say it's still too early to tell, but I think he's somewhere in between the two. BP's FRAA has him at -2. Splitting the difference between them has him right around -2, too. DRS didn't like him in 2015 either, while UZR's thought he's about average his whole career.
  7. I didn't notice much. I couldn't tell if there was a hole in Wilson's swing or anything. He took some aggressive swings, but he didn't chase much and he didn't whiff too much when I saw him. He fouled quite a few pitches off.
  8. I don't think he wanted to face Schwarbs with the bases loaded.
  9. Without even looking I'm sure there was a Coghlan/Sweeney/Lake monstrosity somewhere in the 2014 season. True, those days are a haze for me. I pretty much meant, before we became good. But anyway, as much as I am hoping Al gets playing time, and believe in his talent, he is simply an auto-out vs RHP at this point in his career. And last year was a total outlier in him reversing his splits. I don't put much stock in that happening again anytime soon. He has much work to do in that respect. He's had 61 PA against RHP this year. Over half of those PA have come against RHP in the 6th inning and on, which are often guys out of the pen that are death on right-handed batters. He hasn't really been given the chance to face run-of-the-mill right-handed starters. His RHP PAs are largely against deathly relievers, because he is in the game for defense, after starting against a lefty or being subbed in. And his minor league splits aren't that drastic. The only year where there is a major difference is 2015, and that looks like some fluky SSS stuff against LHP. There's usually below a .100 OPS difference between the two. In nearly 2,000 professional PAs, his ISO is higher against righties.
  10. Spoken like someone unaware of the curse.
  11. I'm cautiously optimistic with Happ, which is a lot more than I've ever been with him. His swing-and-miss tendencies have always scared the crap out of me, like they do with any low-contact minor leaguer. But, I'm willing to buy into the idea that he's made adjustments, since he's hit for power in Spring Training, Iowa and now in the big leagues, even. I know it's still in really small samples. But, I'll buy that it's possible. Still, I'm not quite ready to buy into him, and I have little hope in him being some type of cornerstone for us in the future.
  12. Theo: "If you want to stay up with us, someone's gonna have to go on the bereavement list, Ian."
  13. I love the Reds. Keep hitting all week and never look back.
  14. Nope, he's cursed forever. There's no going back now.
