  1. You think? Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh! hahaha...
  2. i'm finally open to moving him down at this point, though i still don't consider a big issue. i'd probably hit him sixth with Ramirez, Soto, Derosa going 3-5.
  3. i agree in many cases, but i didn't have a problem with it in this case (the substitution, not the bunt). Pie would have likely come in for his defense if they scored anyway so might as well get him out there to run the bases.
  4. 2 games is a slump? Not to mention in the first game of those 2 he walked twice and stole two bases. Last night he hit the ball hard at least once and I think twice. I don't really see a slump. Remove last Saturday and he's something like 4-30 with 1 run since August 30th though he has drawn 5 BB's over that span. remove his last three 0-fers and he's on pace to hit .400!!
  5. he's going to tell his players to roll up their sleeves and start kicking some arse. "when i tell you to waste an out, by god you do it in the arse-kickin-est way you know how and stop waiting to lose!" Lou sent him up there to record an out and Geo recorded 2. Even when he fails Geo succeeds. I don't see what Lou was so angry about. haha...above and beyond, Geo. attay boy.

  7. I actually like it when a hitter squares up on the first pitch (as if he is going to bunt). Anything to shift the defense a little bit might be enough to punch the ball through the infield or over a defenders head. Yeah. I actually thought, "Soto, you crafty mofo making them think you're going to bunt so they move in at the corners." Oops
  8. i would have flipped if he was made to bunt. like i did when Derosa bunted. or like i did last night when soto bunted.
  9. i was absolutely beside myself when i saw Geo square around. for the first pitch or two, i was hoping it was a ruse and Geo was just waiting to turn on one. if Lou is going to make insanely idiotic calls like that he has no business blasting his team for playing tight or whatever crap he wants to make up about them "waiting to lose" or whatever. Dear Lord, please let me live to see the day when a sacrifice bunt with anyone other than a pitcher is equated to something similar to...say...VD or something.
  10. who's throwing dirt on him? i said IF Edmonds struggles. i don't think it's a foregone conclusion that he won't. But Fukudome HAS struggled. Why would you replace Edmonds because of a 2 week slump with a guy who's slumped the last 3 months. Fair enough. I admit I'm still leary about Edmonds because of age and his struggles last year through May '08. Regardless, I think Fukudome's fate (for 2008) rests at the hands of Hoffpauir.

  12. i think the string of success the last several years was what they needed to bring them in and now they're hooked. i mean that in a good way.
  13. Hoffpauir is seemingly getting the chance to replace him quasi-permanently. If Hoffpauir hits, Fukudome could be turning into a defensive replacement for the rest of this season. If Edmonds struggles, I'd still like Kosuke to get starts in CF against RHP. If Hoffpuir doesn't do anything Fukudome will probably get another chance in RF.
  14. I like Indianapolis Colts fans. They are just really getting into this football thing. They were so bad for so long and never really had a huge fanbase because of bitterness from the Baltimore situation (those fans didn't follow the team after the move). I liken it to the Brewers. They don't have much of a history so they are just getting into this fanatical trash talking stuff. Colts fans have definitely gotten behind their team. I don't envision them entirely jumping ship either if things get down for a few years now that they've gotten into it. The succes the team has had the last 6-7 years is fantastic and really rare in the NFL anymore. I think they're just accustomed to winning at this point and go into full meltdown and the slightest sign of failure.
  15. bah!! my wife is going out of town beginning that night and i have to watch my kids.
  16. i was thinking 6-10 going into the season. my expectations are still tempered though. i'm now thinking around 8-8. i won't get too excited after one game, despite how well they played.
  17. I've heard the following gems the last two days (among others): 1. The Bears where attempting to intentionally injure Peyton Manning. 2. Freeney was being held and tackled all night ("But I'm so proud of him for not fighting or arguing. Just shows what a class act he is.") 3. Particularly enjoying the secretary in our office who chastised all Bears fans as sore losers because there weren't very many at the airport to welcome them back after the SB loss ("That just wouldn't happen here, we love our team.") saying she turned off this game in the 3rd quarter because the Colts were playing so bad. In it through thick and thin, I see. I know there are people like this in all fan bases. I'm just exposed to the Colts fans because of where I live and I'm soaking this one in because I'm still bitter about the abuse I took after the Super Bowl.
  18. really excited for this game for some reason. either; a) i think they turn it on starting today; or b) i'm a glutton for punishment.
  19. because i don't want to work, this is how it plays out if there are no changes: 9/9 @ STL: Dempster 9/10 @ STL: Lilly 9/11 @ STL: Harden 9/12 @ HOU: Marquis 9/13 @ HOU: Zambrano 9/14 @ HOU: Dempster 9/16 v. MIL: Lilly 9/17 v. MIL: Harden 9/18 v. MIL: Marquis 9/19 v. STL: Zambrano 9/20 v. STL: Dempster 9/21 v. STL: Lilly 9/22 @ NYM: Harden 9/23 @ NYM: Marquis 9/24 @ MYM: Zambrano 9/25 @ NYM: Dempster 9/26 @ MIL: Lilly 9/27 @ MIL: Harden 9/28 @ MIL: Marquis I have to believe if the Cubs have the division won before the 9/27 game, Harden gets held back for the playoffs and starts game 2 or 3.
  20. The rotations is "set" (pending health) for the next week. It seems to me the local writers are simply taking that and speculating what the rotation will be for the rest of the year (assuming all games mean something) and how that would play out in the playoffs. I think if the last series turns out to be meaningless things could/will change.
  21. i definitely thought peyton showed a little rust, Raw. there were a few throws where they had a man beat and a perfect throw from peyton beats them. he didn't make those last night. he was good, but not as great as he typically is. anyway, that was AWESOME!!! i've never been happier to be at work on a Monday morning (in Indy). i have to say i didn't think they had much of a chance against the Colts pass rush, but they held up on pass blocking and did a fantastic job run blocking. orton pretty much did what he did in 2005, but with a little more accuracy. having said that, i'll temper my enthusiasm for now. i will say, my hopes are certainly higher than they were before the game. also, really pissed at myself for not jumping on those tickets when i had the chance. IDIOT!! ETA: absolutely fantastic job against the run. 53 yards? wow.
  22. i'm kind of surprised how many of the silly Colts fans calling into to talk shows and what not saying the Bears should kick to Hester. lots of beating their own chests type stuff. "he's the best but we're the best"; "we're not afraid of him", etc. seriously, pretty much one of the only chances the Bears have to win the game is if Hester does something in the return game. getter over your pride.
  23. haha...they were spewing that nonsense on Tribune Live the other night. their only explinations for him not bunting was that either the "$136 man" is too selfish, or his manager is "afraid" to ask him to bunt. what a joke.
