  1. pretty much this. i'd probably swap Barney and Soriano, but it doesn't really matter. When Geo comes back: Kosuke Castro Pena Aramis Soto Byrd Soriano Barney
  2. I didn't get this either, and they did it twice in a row! Obviously sending Soriano was stupid as well. What the hell is going on over at third?
  3. ugh...Yes, anyone who thinks Hendry should be replaced because they are not satisfied with the results under his regime is BLINDED BY HATE! Very helpful. But at least you appreciate Tim's rational approach. It's perfectly rational to be of the opinion that the Cubs are better off entering next off-season, one in which they potentially have a large amount of money to spend, with a different GM. Tim, CCP, TT and others have given perfectly reasonable arguments against booting Hendry, but disagreeing with them doesn't make one blinded by hatred. I already stated I'd like to see him replaced, but I fully acknowledge I don't have an available, sure-fire improvement in mind. Again, it's not an "anybody but Hendry" situation, but as far as I can tell, nobody in this thread is saying it is. I don't understand why people are suggesting otherwise.
  4. Hendry being less than terrible or somewhere in the middle of the pack (or however you want to phrase it) doesn't justify him continuing on as the Cubs GM. The bottom line is he hasn't really succeeded other than making the playoffs a few times with financial resources that dwarf much of his competition. Saying he's better than what the Cubs had before doesn't really mean much to me. Obviously it's not a "anyone but Hendry" situation, but the Cubs can and should look for better. I certainly won't pan every move he's made (he's made a few very nice trades, in fact) but I really would rather he not be in charge of handing out $60 million.
  5. And now I have Mt. Dew on my monitor.
  6. He's a point a game player, one of the top 5 passers in the league, who hasn't even entered his prime yet. People who are saying that just started watching the Hawks last year. Not saying that as a slam against them because I want the NHL to have as many fans as possible, but his skill-set is extraordinary and under no circumstances do you shop him. And some people were saying he disappears when the going gets tough. What the hell game have they been watching the past few years? He's got over a PPG in the playoffs and, oh yeah, scored the STANLEY CUP WINNING GOAL. People are dumb. You've gotta be [expletive] kidding. I hate people.
  7. They are saying what they need to say. I'm sure they do feel like if they play like they did most of game six, they will be in a great position to win the game. Honestly, they pretty much out-played the Hawks. They just couldn't score. The whining about the officiating is stupid and counter-productive, but it's not like they played poorly in game six.
  8. I thought the season was over when they blew the 5 on 3 (again). Wow. One more, fellas.
  9. I think Franklin got back at LaRussa by farting in his pillow: Now, Tony LaRussa Is Ugly On the Outside, Too
  10. Rain until 4pm, then fairly clear. Oh, I'm sure people who have tickets will love that 3 hour delay I know people at work until 4 will!
  11. You don't enjoy watching Matt Garza give up 12 runs on the fuzzy channel? He can't watch them at all tonight as is the case for many on the board. It's especially annoying to have a WCIU game after an off day. This. Back to back days not watching games is annoying.
  12. Yeah, there's being dumb and then there's just straight making things up, which is what Stone did here. Amazing. The thing about Ramirez not diving for balls is staggering. Aramis dives in the field regularly. As someone mentioned, that even caused the most significant injury of his career at one point. Stone is a clown. Goony is probably right on saying that if Ramirez was white, he'd be thought of as a guy that's tough and plays hurt.
  13. Wow. Great deal. I was sort of against signing Wood because I thought he'd get far more than that. This is great though.
  14. Holy crap. Please play this game in Indy!
  15. I refuse to assume Fukudome is gone until it happens: Fukudome Soto Ramirez Pena Byrd Soriano Castro Dewitt
  16. Even expecting completely idiotic behavior and signings by Hendry, I am stunned that they would offer arby to Hill. Amazing. Almost as amazing is that nobody has stepped in with some nonsense about Hill's leadership or magical work with the pitching staff or something stupid and then played the old, "It's only $___, people. No big deal." Maybe we can get Bob Brenly to do a chat and rave about Koyie's allegedly phenomenal defensive prowess. WE CAN'T AFFORD ADAM DUNN/CARLOS PENA/[insert quality starter if you desire] PEOPLE. WE'RE NOT MADE OF MONEY. YOU CAN'T FIND CRIPPLED, NON-HITTING BACK-UP CATCHERS JUST ANYWHERE! Sorry, I'm in a pissed-off mood today.
  17. Should've praised God 24/7 This is how he do me? Thanks tho
  18. This trade has just completely blown up in my face so far. What a shock. I look forward to the icing on the cake this weekend when the guy I traded with beats me (on the strength of an outstanding game by Steve Johnson) to knock me out of the playoffs. THIS IS FUN
  19. It's really getting annoying how many ways the Cubs will find to spend Dunn's money on mediocrity. They don't need Hudson, they don't need Webb and if they sign Dunn they don't need Pena. THIS ISN'T COMPLICATED, CUBS. And yet it's something we all saw coming. Sign a bunch of mediocre or worse players who don't fill a need to contracts they don't deserve and then ratchet up the "[Good Player] was just too expensive" rhetoric.
  20. This is one of the few games I feel confident about this season. The Lions are clearly better than the record they have, but the Bears win this one. The Lions may be motivated by a feeling of having the first game "stolen" from them (it wasn't), but I still feel good about it. Win this and they likely only need one more win in those final four tough games to be in the playoffs.
  21. Wow, I was really looking forward to reading the post-game posts in this thread this morning, and then some people [expletive] all over it with a stupid argument about Mark Sanchez being Jay Cutler. Anyway, great freakin' win. Okay, Bears, you've got me. I finally believe you are as good as you think you are. Don't let me down now. Outstanding game by Jay. Great defense, other than when they went into prevent mode at the end. Great special teams. Just a really impressive all-around win and they pretty much controlled every aspect of the game.
  22. I guess the Indy Star is actually claiming it is a done deal
  23. I'm not a premium member on Peegs' board, but it seems some people are talking about leaks, nothing official. At least nothing as far as I can tell.
  24. Is it? I haven't seen it anywhere (other than Peegs' message board, which I don't really trust).
