  1. Agreed. That would really get me interested in doing a deal for Bradley (which would involve Walker). Furcal Murton Giles Lee Ramirez Bradley Barrett Cedeno word...
  2. Walker to the Mets in a deal for Floyd* (if Giles doesn't work out)? If the Cubs sign Fucal, the Mets may still be looking for a 2B. It will also be interesting to see what happens in LA with Kent. Maybe LA will have in interest in Walker in a deal involving Bradley. *Not advocating.
  3. I'm beginning to think that way as well. At first, I was all for trading Walker and moving Cedeno to 2B is Furcal was signed. However, Hendry should also consider moving Cedeno instead if there is more or equal interest and keep Walker at 2B. He really is superior to Cedeno offensively and $2.5 million is relatively cheap for his production. Basically, stay open to trading Walker OR Cedeno (whoever gets the most in return) plus maybe some pitching for OF help.
  4. And the feeling I get with Corey is that he is content at where he is at, with his baseball career. Which is unacceptable. Where is the competitor? Where is the "drive?" I don't get that, at all. Wasn't he the first person at Spring Training this year? Hasn't he been working with the Cubs on his swing (in Mesa?) since immediately after the season ended? Oh, but he doesn't through a fit when he strikes out. I guess he doesn't have the "drive".
  5. Isn't this more or less just a joke though? I mean, is anybody really being "uptight"? I just thought it was funny.
  6. How would you like Lofton at 2/$6m, along with Wilson for 2/$10-14m? Because that's probably the type of people Hendry things would help this team.
  7. Lineup: Furcal SS Murton LF Lee 1B Floyd RF Ramirez 3B Bradley CF Berrett C Cedeno 2B
  8. By the way, just playing with a lineup after a series of moves like this, and the lineup is insane: Giles Giles Lee Helton Ramirez Barrett Murton Cedeno Assuming Helton at $14m (Rox have to pick up some of the deal if they trade him), Giles/Giles at 5.5/10, respectively, a crazy 3/30 deal for Wagner, a bench of Blanco/Theriot/Fontenot/Greenberg/1.1m OF, and I've got a $102.75m juggernaut. Having 2 minimum wage starter helps a lot. And with that lineup, you have to be happy to go with the kids on the bench. That would be sweet but I'd consider moving Murton to the #2 spot (and moving everyone else down a spot) if he kept up his OBP.
  9. Yeah, but Tim, how much have you actually seen him play?? These are just random numbers!
  10. Bruce (if you come back to this thread), I keep reading that it's almost a foregone conclusion that Walker will not be a Cub next year. Do you know what the thinking is from Cubs' management? Why? Are they unhappy with his defense? His "mouth"? Or is it something else I'm not considering?
  11. I keep having this recurring nightmare that Jacque Jones is our RFer in 2006.
  12. Bruce tosses out some ideas for how the Cubs could possibly turn things around quickly. http://www.dailyherald.com/sports/sportsstory.asp?id=101674 Largely ideas that we've discussed to date. It seems that everyone (with connections) is sure that Walker won't be back next year. I don't get it, but I'm starting to become convinced that he's going to be gone.
  13. I had this all lined up and ready to go. You beat me to it. Allow me to add this nugget: I can't even follow half of this. You oversleep sometimes, but get up too early other times, all because of day games? I suppose he blames Steve Stone for the Sun. Interestingly enough, I work during the day, and still have time to do laundry, go to the bank, wash my car and go shopping. Sometimes I even have to pick up my daughter. Not to mention that I work out four times a week. Dusty would think that I'm a superhero or something!!
  14. I can honestly say that's one of the most absurd things I have ever heard. He really is a Sox fan.
  15. I hope this performance by Rusch is enough to convince Dusty, et al. that Rusch shouldn't start another game.
  16. If nothing else, I'd like to see the Cubs hurt the Marlins chances at making the playoffs. I hate the Marlins.
  17. I was reading that earlier this morning. Another nice article from Bruce. I was surprised that he commented with such certainty that Barrett would be back. I'm glad, but wondered if the Cubs brass wasn't starting to sour on him. Bruce also mentioned a couple of possible off season targets that are mentioned here quite often, Furcal and Giles. It will be interesting to see if Hendry targets one or both. Bruce also seemed to indicate that Hendry was probably going to bring back the same front four in the rotations with Wood, Prior, Zambrano and Maddux. I have been wondering if Hendry might target Millwood or somebody like that. But Bruce made no mention of it.
  18. Welcome to the forum. The biggest problem I have with Neifi is his use. He is adequate as a backup, bottom of the order hitter. He is not adequate as a starter, or someone getting the amount of playing time he receives (including getting multiple starts at 2B in place of Walker). You know what Neifi is going to give you. Which is to say, not much offensively, and respectable defense. That's all you should expect from him, and it should be in limited dosses. I'd much rather see Cedeno start over Neifi at SS if Nomar is DL'd. I'm certain that Cedeno could produce as much offensively and defensively as Neifi, with more upside/potential. The bad thing is, Dusty is absolutely in love with Neifi and will play him at every oppurtunity possible.
  19. No, please don't do this. Join. Please don't rush him.
  20. Actually, he does know it. He's mentioned that Remmy's better against righties. He just continued to use him against lefties. That's what made it even more frustrating (to me).
  21. I ate some fiberglass insulation. It wasn't cotton candy like that guy said. ...my tummy itches. The bears are attracted to the menstration! Where did you get those clothes? The toilet store? Would you like to go to the pants party? I threw a trident, and I killed a guy. He's dead. I love...lamp. I ate a big red candle. You have waaaaaay too much pubic hair.

  23. I'd still be interested in what it might take to get Huff. It looks like he's owed $7.5 mil next season. He's stuggled this year, but his three year splits are still not bad (.307/.364/.524). At 28, I see him as possibly being a better option than Giles. I'd also consider bringing back Lawton and Nomar (if he'd sign a one-year incentive laden deal). Assuming I have a new Manager (which would be my first change), I'd bring back Neifi as the backup SS and keep Cedeno in Iowa (at least to start the year). I'd keep Murton as my primary backup OF. I also start Pie off in Iowa (possibly to be called up mid season). Lineup: Lawton LF Walker 2B Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Huff RF Nomar SS Patterson CF Barrett C If I really think Wood is going to come back healthy, I probably stay out of the SP free agent market and fill the fifth spot from within (Rusch/Hill/Williams/Mitre etc.). Also, if Maddux decides to retire, it could change my thinking on this. That's all I have time for right now. I'd revamp my bench quite a bit, but I can't get into that at this time.
