  1. Hairston + Patterson to LA for Bradley? (I still don't believe Patterson alone is enough) What prospects are we talking for Floyd? (Williams, Hill, less?) Pierre CF Walker 2B Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Floyd/Murton LF Bradley RF Barrett C Cedeno/Perez SS :thumright: *comes back to reality*
  2. I agreed with this the other day (or was that just this morning?) and I still do. I think it's a decent option. Having Murton/Mench/Floyd (whoever isn't playing that day) as the first PH off the bench would also be nice. If Bradley could be counted on not to bitch about playing time (or better yet, take time away from Pierre) then I'd throw him into the mix as well. With no guaranteed OF production yet, you probably need either one stud, or two pretty good bats brought in. I would have no problem with Murton getting 300-400 at bats if the other OF bats are qualified. I just mentioned that in the Bradley thread. If the Cubs can get Bradley and Floyd (no Mench) all the better. That leaves you with the possibility of looking at a Cedeno/Perez MI though. I don't think the Cubs can get Floyd and Bradley without losing Walker.
  3. i hope he's wrong. i'll take floyd or wilkerson over bradley any day. Why not both (Floyd and Bradley)? Can the Cubs pull off a trade for each? I think it's possible. Platoon Murton and Floyd in LF.

  5. If it's not Pie or something like that, then yes, I'd do it IF Floyd can handle RF. I'm not sure. I'm also not against having him in LF if they are still going to get a productive RF.
  6. Pathetic. Paging Marshall Strickland...Mr. Strickland, where are you? I didn't really get to see Monroe play at Auburn too much, but I've been pretty unimpressed with him so far. I was really looking forward to the UK game. Now...not so much. So far they've been in two close games down the stretch, and have pretty much performed horrendously on both occasions.
  7. Player I also has injury concerns and a hefty contract. Drew? Is he 30 already?
  8. If he went to the Dodgers, I'd assume it would be for Bradley. So does Hendry then turn around and make another trade for Soriano and Mench? Interesting. I assume that Mench or Murton would then be a fourth OF? If Walker goes to LA it will probably be for Bradley. Then I can see Hendry go after Soriano and Mench which probably means Murton will be on the bench or at the very most platoon with Mench. The scary thing about all that is going down and the fact that Neifi signed a 2 year deal is that in my opinion Baker and Hendry have made up their minds that at the very least Perez will be platooning with Cedeno but most likely starting at 2B over Hairston. If Perez starts this organization has no clue. So you're basically looking at: Pierre CF Bradley RF Lee 1B Ramirez 3B Soriano 2B Murton/Mench LF Barrett C Perez/Cedeno SS
  9. If Walker is going to be traded, I take Soriano in a heartbeat if it means Neifi gets more time on the pine. If Bradley was in RF, I would be more open to Soriano at 2B. I just don't see Hendry being into that with his new found love for defense.

  11. In addition; if he does stay, I don't think he'll be platooned. Dusty had plenty of oppurtunities to platoon him with Hairston/Macias last year and didn't do it. However, if Cedeno somehow emerges as the starting SS, I guess I can see Dusty putting Neifi at 2B and benching Walker :pukel:
  12. I thought maybe Walker would be moved to NYM in a deal for Floyd, but it appears they will sign Grudz. The Dodgers are rumored to be looking at Soriano, so perhaps he wouldn't be part of a Bradley deal. Washington has Vidro. I would have put Minnesota up there, but they picked up Castillo. I basically have no answer to your question. I am still holding on to a very thin string of hope that the Cubs will decide to keep him and go with a Cedeno/Walker MI. Especially if they end up with someone like Bradley or Wilkerson in RF.
  13. I kind of agree with this. I would maybe try to get a RH and LH OF, and then platoon the two of them with Murton. I like Murton, and I'm happy with him starting, as I am with Cedeno. But when you go with such unguaranteed production as those two, you have to get guaranteed production elsewhere. Now that Pierre is in CF, that position won't make up for any setback from the kids. Knowing that Pierre is a likely fill-in for Cedeno, or even the starting 2B, the Cubs don't have room to screw around in the OF, they need production. I'd go big, or go after platoon guys who can handle either RH or LH pitchers. Floyd's numbers scream platoon (though he's a little expensive for a platoon player). A Floyd/Murton platoon in LF would be cool. I don't know if they have the trade chips to get Floyd and a solid RFer, but that would be nice. I don't want a platoon partner with Murton. With Dusty, that would lead to Murton getting maybe 150-200 ABs this year, and that is a pretty optimistic number. That wouldn't bother me IF the player he was sitting in favor of was productive. The problem with last year, is that Murton sat in favor of Hollandsworth and Hairston. That's different IMO.

  15. B, E and F all seem like good options. It depends on what you have to give up to get each and things that aren't in the criteria you listed (defense, cost, etc.).
  16. I could stomach Bradley in RF if the Cubs hold on to Walker. Otherwise, I think they'll need better production out there. Since Walker wasn't part of the Pierre trade, perhaps there is hope that he'll be back. I doubt it.
  17. I don't think so. I think Hendry really likes Pierre.
  18. Content? Probably not. If they held onto Walker, maybe. Bradley has so much more value in CF. That leaves you with this lineup: Pierre Walker Lee Ramirez Bradley Murton Barrett Cedeno/Neifi It's an improvement over 2005, but not as much as I'd hoped. I would probably trade Murton and Hill to the Reds for Dunn. I don't think Hendry would though.
  19. 3m for a 4th outfielder sounds like it's right in Hendry's ballpark. He's paying Neifi 2.5m to "supposedly" be a back up middle infielder. $3m for a backup OF isn't bad at all. If you're Pittsburgh you don't want to do it, but with a $100m payroll it's not bad. The problem is how good that 4th OF is. If they get Mench, I could see Corey used as a partial platoon player for Murton or Mench. That's kind of what I'm thinking. If the Cubs are going to settle for the likes of Mench and Murton in the corners, having Patterson as another potential OFer who could step up isn't necessarily a bad option. He's really not going to lower his value any more than he already has IMO. It's really not the kind of risk a $100+ million payroll team should have to take, but I guess it's an option.
  20. 3m for a 4th outfielder sounds like it's right in Hendry's ballpark. He's paying Neifi 2.5m to "supposedly" be a back up middle infielder. It's overpaying, no doubt. But maybe, just maybe, he rebounds and you can sell high (if you want to). I'm not advocating it by any means. But its an interesting idea to me.
  21. This is probably a stupid question, but could the Cubs be considering holding onto Patterson now and making him the fourth OFer? I'd assume he'll be part of a deal to get someone in RF, but if he isn't, it will be interesting. I'm not really sure how I'd feel about that. $3 million for a fourth outfielder/defensive replacement is too high. On the other hand, if he turns things around, you have the potential to have a great fourth OFer or you can trade him in July if/when his value is higher.
  22. Probably. Now Hendry can over pay for Huff. Yuck. I really am against having Huff in RF now that Pierre is in CF. It was possibly a tolerable gamble if there was above average production in CF. Not now. Maybe now Felix is on the table in a deal for one of the Big 3 corner OF's we've all talked about. It's a lot more likely than it was yesterday, but I still doubt it (based on the rumors we've heard so far). I'm definitely not against trading him for the right player. I also still think it's quite possible (or even likely) that Williams and/or Hill would be part of such a deal. Especially if you're talking about trading with Cinci or Philly. I'd think they would both want pitching. Williams would seem to be a good fit for both of those teams. I'd say the Mets would be interested them as well (for Floyd?).

  24. Does this end pursuit of a SS? Since Hendry has found his lead-off man, I hope they end the Lugo talk. Cedeno, please.
