  1. Hopefully, Kimbrel can be solid. But even though it's unconventional, I'm also hoping they have somebody warming up and don't give him a long hook.
  2. I didn't watch the 9th as I didn't want to see a walkoff. It sounds like it wasn't really Kimbrel's fault tonight, but unfortunately, I don't have much confidence in him closing out close games for the foreseeable future. He's pitched in three MLB games in eight months. That has to be tough. Here's hoping he still will be good when up to speed, and not Yu Darvish.
  3. At least I guess this means the Cardinals will lose tonight.
  4. Talk to me. Is Kimbrel ready for a one-run save? I have some serious doubts.
  5. horsefeathers, guys, we aren't good enough right now to be doing this horsefeathers. Run, horsefeathers.
  6. Is anybody comfortable with Kimbrel coming in for a one-run save, even with the bottom of the order?
  7. Any chance we can get a big two-out hit, and then also score the run and not get thrown out at the plate? No. We won't.
  8. I actually think it happens more times than we realize, but the fact that it seems to happen all the time to the Cubs because they suck is annoying as horsefeathers.
  9. I feel like it's so much more work for the Cubs to score runs.
  10. We also desperately need hitters who can get guys in from third with less than two outs.
  11. Phase 1, complete: "Our first innings have been horrible. We’re seemingly going down 1-2-3 without a fight with less than 10 pitches."
  12. Willy in the OF. Nice. The lineup sucks. But it doesn't really matter. It sucks no matter the configuration.
  13. Also, let's trade for an actual horsefeathering CF so Heyward can play RF full-time.
  14. Pretty much. And while I suppose it can get even worse, it just feels like this team has checked out on Maddon. Which, of course, is sort of a meatball thing to say. But they are just not competitive in any aspect. They lack focus. They are getting handled by teams that aren't even good. It's not a great look for the manager. He’s also just not being smart. How many times do you have to see Monty get lit up by a lefty before you stop forcing him to pitch as a lefty specialist? I thought Maddon was supposed to be forward thinking not some crusty old dude who is obsessed with traditional matchups overriding any other managerial decision making Yeah. Like a player. maybe he has regressed as he's gotten older.
  15. Your general point still stands but it was 5-15 right before the break. Yeah and at one point had a stretch where they went 1-9 and their pitching was getting lit up. Coincidentally it was during a stretch right before the ASB after the Cubs played like 24 days in a row. Right now our pitching is getting lit up right before the ASB after playing 50 games in 52 days If it was just the pitching, cool. But this offense has started to shut down like it did the last few months in 2018. Perhaps it's valid, but I've gotten tired with the whole, "They played a lot of games in a row and they are tired" excuse.
  16. It would be Mark Loretta. I mean I guess they just need some kind of lackey to run the team while they give him lineups and bullpen options Pretty much. 17. Even though this roster is not his fault, I think it is coming. Not sure there's an in-house option that could replace him given they turn-over the pitching and hitting coach every year. And I doubt they go out and bring someone in mid-season. Maybe Marty Pevey? It would be Mark Loretta.
