  1. The mental game is lacking at times for our club, and it's incredibly frustrating to watch. And, at times, perhaps costing us a win or two.
  2. They are going to win right here. He will be ineffective. We'd have already won had he started the inning.
  3. Oh, I thought they were bringing in Raseal for a third straight game.
  4. I would like to make a prediction, in which the percentages aren't in my favor. But I do think the Cubs are going to win it here because I think they will hit the ball really hard.
  5. It looked like it, but I also thought the count was 3-2, which means it would have been a walk. I apologize if I'm remembering incorrectly.
  6. Outed for being a Reds fan You just ruined my response for when I was wrong.
  7. If it makes you feel better, they did try to sign him for that contract. But he picked the Royals because he didn't think he'd get to play enough for the Cubs.
  8. I will say, with the one trading deadline this year, the Cubs needed to get another decent catcher rather than be stuck with Taylor Davis should Willy or Vic be down at any point the last two months.
  9. I bet it was because Monty and Maldonado's money matches up.
  10. Great at-bat by Bote. Too bad he was a Little Leaguer in the high leverage one.
  11. But also they couldn't field grounders or catch pop ups.
  12. I hate this post so much because of everything we all know about baseball........... but, of course, would be nice if you are right.
  13. Lately I've thought that maybe he is now comfortable with the Cubs and his contract and simply doesn't GAF and is going to be this kind of player (the player we thought we were getting) for the rest of his contract. Would be nice. He really has improved every year at the plate for the Cubs. That's interesting to think about. Are there any players who come to mind that signed a long-term contract with a team and pretty much sucked for the first half of it and then was good for the second, all while with the team he signed the contract with?
  14. He has a 115 wRC+ so yeah he’s been just plain good. That’s the same wRC+ as Lindor and within 1 point of Harper and Story. OK. Cool. I just looked at the nine doubles and 15 homers and a clean slash line but nothing unreal and was just wondering if it was all that impressive.
  15. I suppose it's OK to have the discussion considering it's a message board, but there is a zero percent chance Heyward opts out. I'm just enjoying that he's having a solid season and at least one of the final five years of his contract wasn't terrible offensively. I would like to see them trade for a quality CF if that's even possible just so we can put him in RF every game, where he becomes an even better all-around player. Not sure what the metrics say, but I still don't love him in CF. ETA: Also, in the juiced ball year, are J-Hey's numbers even that good, or just good for J-Hey?
  16. Yeah, even Almora would have only been out by a foot on that one.
  17. You can't expect to win if you're only going to hit one home run.
  18. It is cool to see our steak of Little League errors continue, though.
  19. I wouldn't say I hate them, but I'm certainly apathetic. I don't even watch most games anymore; two years ago I almost never missed one. I've begun to realize the sport sort of sucks. It's just a crappy version of home run derby every game, with strikeouts and ground outs into shifts filling the time.
  20. Have we fixed a pitcher in the last three years? Cole Hamels.
