  1. I like being aggressive. It's not like the middle of the order has been lights out. Hell, the Cubs were at their best when running earlier this season. It sucks when it doesn't work, but whatever.
  2. Really only 3 starts... First 3 starts: 6.89 ERA Last 17 starts: 2.81 ERA Yeah, in the end, I bet Jon Lester is pretty much the same pitcher he has been all these years. When you get all the money and headlines during the offseason, suddenly perception changes. But that's not his fault.
  3. Hey, I'd rather get an out on one or two pitches than three. But I know what you're saying.
  4. So this is what it felt like to be an Indians fan that one day Marcum faced us.
  5. Wow. I can't seriously believe they fucked this game up.
  6. This season will not end with the Cubs in the playoffs. The slide is complete.
  7. Each of the last two days Bryant has made throws in which he had no chance to get the runner at first. Would like to see him learn to eat those.
  8. Does Tyson Ross have a third pitch? I feel like I read he's a two-pitch pitcher. I haven't seen him that much.
  9. The next step for this young Cubs offense is to add a few runs here and there after big innings.
  10. Just an FYI: Olney said in 2008 that we didn't have enough to get Rich Harden and no deal was possible. That was just a few days before the Cubs got Rich harden.
  11. I can honestly say we all know what that feels like.
  12. James Shields is guaranteed $21MM per year in 2016-2018 and he'll be 35 years old by opening day 2017. He could have the greatest season in modern baseball history in 2016 and would be a fool to opt out. Yup. Agreed. That's why we kinda added the "but, yeah," part, even though it probably didn't make sense. Just wanted to put the note out there about the option so everybody is as informed as possible.
  13. I'd be cool with Shields for Castro, but they'd have to kick in some money. One thing to note: Shields can opt out of his contract after 2016. So, I suppose if he had a really great year next season, the Cubs could lose him pretty quickly. But, yeah.
  14. So, what are the chances that Baez is up soon and playing second with Russell at short? It sure feels like he's going to at least get his shot.
  15. IMB! called me a "hairydicked idiot" for some thing or another and I thought it was funny and asked for a name change. They wouldn't let me have it spelled normally. Haha. Nice.
  16. Wait. The fact that this season is very much in play with two months left.....that's in spite of Theo? We are exactly where we are because of Theo. This does not absolve him of where we've been nor credit him for where we may yet be. Fair enough. You will someday love him, though. You will. Maybe this has been discussed before but, why did you pick the name Hairyducked Idiot? Is there some backstory?

  18. You're starting to believe in Theo. NIce. Real nice. ETA: Crap, I thought the Idiot poster wrote this. Never mind. Still, good point by you. ETAA: Wait. It was Idiot! You ARE starting to believe. Nice. Also, still, good point by you.
  19. He was credited by many Marlins players as pretty valuable, including Gincarlo Stanton, who said Mallee helped develop him. ETA: I'm not defending or praising him. Just giving the info. I personally don't think hitting coaches matter one bit.
