  1. You missed that one guy starting some threads.
  2. Up until this week, I never realized how popular boat racing was.
  3. Besides, what if we hadn't gone into full rebuild and our differential was -30 right now. What if?
  4. With a non-zero chance of a pennant flying over Wrigley Field to console us. I'm looking forward to the first time the Cubs struggle in 2016 and we get a round of "Well, this is just the first year of our true glory and these guys are all still so young. Wait until 2017, that's when it really matters." But with all of your ifs, you could poke a hole in what would have happened had they not gone into a rebuild mode. It's a never-ending exercise. If we hadn't gone rebuild, what if the last four years sucked and what if this was the fifth straight year of crap? What if? Our run differential is about to go into the negatives. This isn't the fifth straight year of crap, but it's not that far away from it. Nah. It's pretty far.

  6. See and we have now gotten to the point where I'm not sure if this is sarcastic or not.
  7. Guys are starting to strike out on balls that are hitting them and/or are bouncing on the ground before it gets to the plate.
  8. I don't think I want them to buy. The players who are supposed to be doing well are going to start doing well or they're not. We won't make the playoffs unless they do, regardless of anything else. Agreed.
  9. I don't know enough about catching and what all goes into it and how big a role it plays, but did the Montero injury impact the pitching staff? I'd assume not, but I have no idea.
  10. Cubs have allowed 39 runs in last seven games (this being be seventh and isn't over yet), including at least five runs in each of the past five. Since we don't have a great offense, that's not a good combo for success.
  11. I'm hoping by the end of the day we are laughing at this 3-0 start because we won 12-4 or something.
  12. I wasn't scolding you in particular. Just wanted to highlight my own thoughts. Everyone has their own recovery time. No one expects you to be over it instantly. I hear ya. I'm sorry for lashing out. I'm just having a difficult time handling this right now. :D All in good fun.
  13. The Giants rotation is 20% Bumgarner, 20% Chris Heston trying to keep up his current pace, and 60% mediocrity or worse. Don't be a 'today was bad so everything is bad forever' person. Perhaps his use of "significantly" better was too complimentary toward the Giants, but I do think he's right that they are better. I'm more confident in them winning a playoff spot than the Cubs. And it has nothing to do with today.
  14. Come up with a better reason than that. "kinda sucks" is much less pathetic than "can't handle being no hit." Yeah, sorry man. I realize that the can't handle part was difficult for you. I was hoping to get away with it, but nope. I got caught. What's the point in letting something beyond your control dictate your emotional well-being? Sure, I get upset in the heat of the moment when bad and stupid things happen to the Cubs. But I try to get over it quickly. Holy [expletive], everyone. I'm very sorry for the poor choice of wording. Can't handle meant for me just that it would kinda suck.
  15. And I don't have a huge problem with that. It's cool that the Cubs have given themselves a fighting chance, but in the end, I'd imagine they are going to fall short to those two teams. We have a bunch of guys learning at the MLB level for the first time all at the same time, but it's fun to have expectations again and actually get pissed at losses in late July.

  17. Wow. There is an entire Twitter account devoted to the Cubs No-hit streak. Has a pretty strong following, too. Um, had.
  18. Would like to apologize to Truffle for not wanting to get no-hit because I take pride in us not getting no-hit and for that just not being a good enough reason. I would have responded by quoting him, but the whole "You may embed only five quotes thing" is hurting that.
  19. Yesterday and it's not even close. Today. Only because I can't handle getting no-hit. why not? I take pride in saying we have the longest streak and that its never happened in my lifetime. That and the people who will talk smack to me.
