  1. I know nothing about Karns. Would that be a good pickup?
  2. The tough part about this particular trade deadline, more specifically if we get a rental, is that the possibility exists the Cubs could be seven or eight games out of a wild card spot by next Sunday. I'm not real confident playing seven straight games against the Pirates and Giants right now. Hell, I actually think we are going to struggle against the Brewers. This obviously doesn't matter if it's a Tyson Ross type.
  3. So yes or no? Baez will be traded by Friday. I say yes, even though I hope it's no. But I'm also probably wrong for being scared that Baez will be a beast. Even though he so seems like he could be.
  4. good just in time for the cubs to come up there I'd rather him stay in Milwaukee and not going to one of our 2 competitors for a playoff spot if the mets are going for it to a degree, theo has to do something, we have been ahead of them all season in the wildcard If the Mets turn out to be better than the Cubs, it won't matter. Because the Giants will have been better than them, too. The Cubs are better than the Mets. I'm totally focusing on the Giants.
  5. Like it more for the Brewers, although Wheeler had some pretty big surgeries and won't be ready until next July or so and also has had previous arm questions even before being drafted. So, there is risk. But I'm not a huge Gomez fan, so I like it better for them.
  6. yes even more reason to make me hope and dream they do something with starlin, but how do you bench your "franchise" shortstop / veteran? if they cant trade him im a fan of the "hey dude you just got hurt go hang with your kids for a while" 60 day dl Interesting. Because to me, I'd think it would be even more insulting to ask Castro to fake an injury and watch the rest of the season from home rather than telling him he no longer is starting every day but still will be counted on to help the team. But maybe that's just me.
  7. Gawd I hate being behind on MLB TV. That said happy with that out.
  8. This is how we win. Might as well try to do it again.
  9. I mean, if you hoped to be right I would expect you to be banned.
  10. I just really want back to back games where the Cubs win 10-1 and 12-2. Or something close to that.
  11. It has really surprised me that he and Schwarbs having success somehow hasn't translated into a more consistent offense.
  12. That's what I hate most about it. People excuse it because, 'hey, you tried', when in fact you ran yourself out of an opportunity. But where I disagree is that you are coming at it from the perspective that it fails every single time when it fact it works out more than it doesn't. It needs to work out far more than it doesn't to justify it. Isn't it generally accepted that you have to successfully steal like 75-80% of the time for it to even be a neutral effect on your offense? I fucked my response up on my phone, but I was saying this convo is actually funny considering the Rockies are in this game because of stolen bases today.

  14. That said I wouldn't have run with coughs because I don't fancy him as a skilled runner.

  16. What are you trying to imply about the Cubs' offense?
  17. I'd have Ross try to steal second and then bunt him over.
  18. Please. Had both been safe you'd love it. Please. they were both out by a mile Fowler was not out by a mile and the Rockies just got lucky that the pitch was so bad it was almost a pitch out. The ball beat him by a mile. And stealing is not the least bit exciting to me even if they are safe. It's why I don't get all up and arms like the ninnies that freak about Lester's pickoffs. Make your outs at the plate, not on the bases. I don't care if it's exciting. It's a way to produce runs when you're not doing it in the traditional sense. Station to station hasn't exactly worked that well these past few months.

  20. I don't think so. He never even looked back. That said, he was totally flat footed and got an awful jump, which makes me want to hope there was a missed sign.
