  1. This could have been a big inning if Zobs was in right today.
  2. We don't suck. I am still pondering if we are slightly above average, though.
  3. It would be interesting to go back to the Wade thread and see the reactions at the time. Definitely not universal praise. In fact, the furthest thing from it. But, there was also concern he wouldn't be healthy. I suppose that is still a concern that lingers. But he's horsefeathering nails right now. He's pitching at the level he was at when he was at his very best. To be totally honest I also asked the question because I'm pretty sure I liked the trade and hoped somebody would read the thread again and think I was a genius.
  4. We were spoiled last year. What was the stat soccer10k posted earlier today, that our RD was like +95 at this point last year? It's really only that. There are going to be a ton more dog fights unless the rotation gets back to what we are accustomed to. But it's not really worrisome or bad. We can still be really good without blowing everyone out. Fair enough. It probably feels more strange to me because we start every single game down by a run or two after an inning.
  5. Quick question and please don't get angry. It's just that you're the people I talk Cubs with. Is it worrisome at all that it doesn't matter who we play, we are in a dogfight every game? There has been only two games - one against Pittsburgh and yesterday - that were comfortable. I feel we have played enough medicore teams that it's surprising how much work most of these wins have been. Thanks for listening.
  6. There's no "kinda" about it. It would be interesting to go back to the Wade thread and see the reactions at the time.
  7. I mean, at least our pitchers give us enough time to come back in all these games.
  8. Is it OK that I don't care about cycles? I've always found it interesting that one of each is more noteworthy than having two dongs, a triple and a double.
  9. No way Maddon is pulling out the ace with one out away from qualifying for a win. Not that I agree.
  10. Let's not do that thing we did against the Pirates where we got up by four and that got down. I think that happened at least.
  11. Just my opinion, but that was big. Because if that guy keeps running and Lester can't even get a toss to second, that would have shown you could literally just start running well before the pitch and there would be nothing to stop you. Even a runner with a preposterous lead is still further from second than Lester is on the mound, and Lester has no problem with underhanded tosses. All he has to do is repeat what happened every time, it doesn't matter if he does it underhand or by lollipopping an overhand throw. That seemed to be generally close at second, though, didn't it? And that guy doesn't have great speed. But I'm sure I'm wrong.

  13. At least you get a break when Lackey and Anderson are pitching.
  14. Getting into a 10-pitch battle with the pitcher can't be a good sign.
