  1. I could have sworn that I heard that Prince Fielder may not play in this series. Any confirmations or denials? Thanks.
  2. Exactly, like my post above, 0300 Eastern time is 0000 PST. I navigated away for 10 minutes and now I'm fine. We may be onto something here. Hope this helps Tim.
  3. I just got the 'max user connections' error at 0000 PST, it lasted until 0010 and it's now over. Tim, maybe you're 'refreshing' (I don't know anything about SQL) or doing something at 0200 hours Central time, as a 'maintenance' effort?
  4. Probably a long time. They have a plexi-glass protector running about two feet up off where the wall juts out towards the field that, unless the fan is standing, completely protects them. Unless a pitcher really loses grip of one and puts it high up in the seats. That's good. But does the plexiglass inhibit the view? Do you have to look through it to see the game? What do you think? Well I don't know if the bricks are low enough that the plexiglass doesn't reach eye level. If I am paying decent money for those seats, I don't want to be looking through plexiglass the whole time. I would think that it would be just like being at a hockey game. It's pretty cool, being 'right there' in front of it, even though you may 'duck' if the ball is hit right at you. The plexiglass, doesn't really inhibit the view, though in a hockey match you'll see scratch marks and stuff through the game, I can't see that really happening in a baseball game.
  5. Isn't about the first step step though? (instinct) I have good reactions but run a 5.0 in the 40'. Murton is probably faster but can he grab the 'hot' corner? put me in front of a ping-pong table and we'll have a match. Then it becomes 'footwork' or fundamentals and that I don't have. Fudge, I pitched. A ball hit at me I'll grab with my pitching hand. So, who is faster? Are you looking at '40 speeds or who can position themselves to make the play? Big difference.
  6. how about 'Birds of Fire' by The Mahavishnu Orchestra? Excellent music, and 'Bird of fire' implies the Phoenix rising. Re: Kerry Wood.
  7. I'm behind this whole list - except here. I loved the Farns. And yes, it's mostly because he threw really hard and punched someone in the face. Immature or not, that was awesome. I vote you replace him with Felix Heredia. God I hated him so much. I'm with you on this but if you're going to pick relief pitchers, I'm going with Mel Rojas and Dave Smith
  8. Pray tell... I googled him and he looks very interesting. .333/.420/.475 and fielded .962 at second base?...looks great and only 20 years old?! What's not to like?
  9. Good song, and I'm not criticizing you're choice, however, if I were to use a Rush song, playing Cygnus X-1 at around 1:30 (time) would work so well. That deep, cool bass riff, the ambient sound (re: bells), and the changing time signature. Would be excellent. Or, if he wanted to come up 'loose' I'd go with 'Lessons'. I'd love to pitch to that. The words could even work.
  10. That just happened to me as well. Ties it up for a little bit and then you can get in.
  11. Aramis Fan, could post the Cub lineup? I wondering how and the heck Theriot could, ever have come to bat, with the bases loaded?! Chi Cubs AB R H RBI BB SO LOB AVG Patterson, 2B 2 1 0 0 0 0 1 .286 Soriano, A, LF 2 1 1 0 0 1 0 .283 Lee, 1B 1 1 0 0 1 0 0 .180 Ramirez, 3B 2 1 1 2 0 0 0 .324 Fukudome, CF 1 1 0 0 1 0 0 .224 Hoffpauir, RF 2 0 0 0 0 0 3 .392 Soto, C 2 0 0 0 0 2 3 .222 Theriot, SS 1 1 1 3 0 0 0 .357 Marquis, P 1 0 1 1 0 0 0 .500 Totals 14 6 4 6 2 3 7 thanks Fred. :D

  13. It works! :good: Thank you Ti...err SanClementeFan
  14. If he does that all year I think we'd all be quite happy! Hey Bruce, how did Theriot look defensively and offensively so far this spring? All can say what they want about Theriot. Sure, he isn't that good but he's better than Cedeno and in my opinion will be in the future. Cedeno has done nothing every time he's been given an opportunity to do so.
  15. I guess, it was a matter of time before I posted in the thread after reading 200+ pages. And I say no. I'd rather keep the minor league system intact than to trade for a limited time of Roberts. How much do y'all think the Tribune (or whomever acquires the Cubs) will be willing to spend on payroll in the long term? I just can't see constricting the future for a 'shot' this year. Furthermore, extending Roberts will be expensive. Without the pieces to help rebuild. Perhaps, I'm just tired of the whole thing and just need some baseball. I don't think the terms of the contract (as I've heard them during the last 200+ pages) are equitable.
  16. At first I was thinking Zambrano, but I think it's more like that Lee hits the first one out. That's only because he comes to bat before big Z does though.
  17. I think it would be good. Being a Seahawk fan (NFL) it's great that you go to a division with less competition, but you still have to make it to the end! I realize that the Cubs aren't moving but if the competition is easier... having more chances gives you more opportunity. I still believe that on any day any team can beat any other team.
  18. I'm somewhat surprised that so many of y'all expect Hill to pitch better than the Big Z.(as far as era and whips can project) Do you think that he should be our 2nd or 1st starter? Not that it makes that much of a difference what position in the rotation you pitch in, (from what I believe and what I've gathered from NSBB) but nonetheless (sp) the question stands. Do y'all think that he is our ace or 2nd? Or do think we are hoping he will be? I'm not being facetious. I'm glad this thread came up because it shows our individual preferences for the said players. I just want to know why. Maybe this should be a separate thread. Mods, please move if you feel necessary. Meph, I'm surprised at your belief in Cedeno. As I sort through the data, I'm sure I may see thing I would like the authors to explain. I don't really understand advanced metrics well, though I'd love to learn.
  19. The ad at the very bottom stays for Premium users by request. Some Premium users requested an unobtrusive ad that they can click on to help Tim. If you're seeing others, then Tim will have to look into that. I'm not seeing adds at the "Top" of the page...but I still get the Google add right under the first post....is that supposed to be like that for premium members or is that the unobrusive add we are to click to help Tim? Tim, same story for me. I see the Google add right under the first post and then one at the bottom. Subsilver2 skin. Thanks for everything.
  20. I picked Star Trek, but I'd like to say that I'd like to be James T. Kirk in the said world. He ended up with every female it seemed.
  21. no doubt! what an insane line Carlos Marmol (Licey): 12 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 19 K/1 BB, 9 GO-7 FO, 0.00 ERA
  22. I don't speak Japanese, however those are the characters in the Kanji (high) form. I'm fluent in Chinese and many of the characters are the same. However, I'm not sure what the 'popular' or common form of the words are. Or if more people use one form or the other.
