  1. I'm very busy today, so I decided to come up with the players I would pick if I was building a team that had to win the world series for 10 straight years. So the game is, you have to keep these same players all 10 years and they have to be good enough to win it all this year and young enough to still be able to win it all in 10 years. Here's my team: SP: Lincecum Kershaw Price Strasburg Felix Hernandez (tough not to pick Jiminez...but I didn't) C: Wieters 1B: Pujols (he'd be 40 by the end of it, or 70 depending on who you ask, but I like his chances of still being very good) 2B: Tulowitzki SS: Castro (maybe a homer pick but whatever) 3B: Longoria LF: Jay Bruce CF: Kemp RF: Justin Upton I didn't pick bullpen pitchers or a bench because I didn't want to.
  2. Trading Lilly makes sense, but I really like him and wouldn't mind resigning him for another couple years. He's been incredible for us. I think if Silva can keep it together for another month or so, somebody will be willing to give us something decent for him. Think about all the crappy pitchers having decent years that have been overpaid for at the deadline. I would vote to keep Gorzelanny If somebody would be willing to give us anything good for Lee, I'd be all for trading him. Nady can fill in at 1B the rest of the year and then we could sign Dunn in the offseason.
  3. They don't mean it, Beerhere. They're just kids that don't know what they're talking about. Please don't massively pwn them.
  4. R U OUT OF UR GORD!?!
  5. On like, a 300 point system.
  6. The douchebag that runs down after the fact brings the awesomeness down about 100 points.
  7. So they're doing good in the rotation, they get moved to the pen. Jackson does good in the pen, he gets sent back to the rotation. It's like Samuel L. Jackson's character in Unbreakable. They're going to desperate lengths to find the prospect that can not be destroyed.
  8. Thanks for the input, fellas. I have pretty mediocre knowledge of the minor leagues, but I'm definitely liking the looks of our pitching.
  9. Where does McNutt rank amongst our pitching prospects? It looks like he walks a lot of people but has some pretty impressive numbers, and is only 20.
  10. If he keeps mowing people down for another month or so they should go ahead and find him a spot in this year's rotation. Some of these young guys are making me hope for a fire sale before the end of the season. Our top minor league guys mixed with a couple good FA (even though there isn't much for next year) and I could be full blown excited about the Cubs again.
  11. Another scoreless inning and Cashner's ERA will be below 1.
  12. At the age of 20 I was putting up Castro-esque numbers in a church softball league (fast pitch, non of that [expletive] show pitch [expletive]). I was also happy that Juan Pierre was a member of the Chicago Cubs. So if Castro follows my development, in four years he won't be playing sports anymore and he'll be hooked on meth.
  13. I know it. If I was a millionaire that occasionally played baseball I would probably just kill myself.
  14. How do people get paid to write stuff this ridiculously foolish? Writer acknowledges Starlin is 6 years younger but chooses to completely ignore that in every other facet. This is the kind of stuff I would expect to find over on the cubs.com message board. Compare Jason Dubois 2008 numbers with Jason Heyward and tell me Heyward isn't going to be a bust.
  15. Oh ye gods. I know the Castro boner grows daily, but the guy barely outhit Theriot last year while in A-ball and Theriot was in the majors. I hates me some Riot as much as any good stathead Cubs fan, but come on. Potential is the key word there. This year's team doesn't really excite me. Castro on the team would add some interest. I'm not really thinking out statistical strategies here, I'm just throwing out what I'd like to see.
  16. Now there's a good reason for Hendry to give up this year already. Replacing Theriot with someone with better defense and the potential to be a better hitter is giving up on the year? You implied that the Cubs should go ahead and put Castro on the team since you didn't have much faith they can win, anyway. I thought that was ridiculous enough to be pointed out this morning. I didn't say they should based on my opinion. My opinion is that it would be a good thing. Why does this upset you?

  18. I can't wait for Sandberg to be the manager. He's my favorite player ever and the Cubs haven't done anything in my lifetime anyway. As long as he doesn't Dusty the pitchers, I'll like him being the coach. What we really need is a good GM. That's 100 times more important than the manager.
  19. I say just give him the starting job. He's adjusted very quickly to every level. Even if he struggles, I don't have much faith in this year's team anyway.
  20. Sosa at 8 is being too kind, since he is obviously the only person on that list to ever use a performance enhancer. ....Even though it was never proven that he used them. ....I mean, I'm sure he did, but still.
  21. Zambrano no guste el invierno!!
  22. If I was good at things and played pro sports, I wouldn't be able to give the post game interview if I lost. I'm just a fan and I just want to punch things and cry.
  23. Yeah, that's the only thing that really pissed me off. I hated that call.
  24. Karma did all the work. The Saints didn't really do much. I didn't say they played good because of their talent and planning.
