  1. Any word on if McNutt's blister issues have subsided? Didn't he get bumped from his last start at the last minute?
  2. So does this mean that the Kelly Johnson deal isnt happening? If we get either DeWitt or Johnson, we almost have to dangle Fontenot and get anything we can, because theres no point having both. Unless Theriot is the key to getting a good prospect from them, I was really liking the idea of Theriot for Johnson. It is the key to getting Dewitt. Then I'd just prefer Johnson. Unless Dewitt is a much better defender. I know Johnson doesn't have a good reputation on defense, so if Dewitt is excellent that might make up the difference in offense.
  3. He was really good in 07 and 08 and didn't play for the Diamondbacks.

  5. I just saw both guys on MLB Network (not sure who they were) say they thought Lilly would stay with the Cubs. Nice job Jim. Some guy at the bus stop said he thought I would get aqua socks for my birthday. I hate my mom so much.
  6. The problem with moving Castro to 2b if Lee makes it is that it will be a tough sell to make a home-grown, all-star SS switch positions. Especially if Castro doesn't like the idea. And even more especially if Castro cuts down one the mistakes and ends up a near gold glove caliber SS.
  7. Because they don't need to eat any of Lilly's contract to trade him, but they do Fukudome. Right. That is pretty obvious. All I am saying is the Cubs will maximize their haul if they sent money along with Lilly. Maybe they're trying to save money or something.
  8. We definitely sold high, but when we traded him he was one of the best 2nd basemen in the league. Not necessarily disagreeing with you, I just don't want to dishonor the memory of DeRosa. I love that guy.
  9. Said weiner patrol posts these threads every day, checks them often, and is gracious for your thanks. You can express your gratitude by dropping this matter. We are clear that I was referring to Truffle as the weiner patrol, yes? Matter dropped.
  10. Seconded. It's helped me become much more interested in the farm system.
  11. Huh? edit...too mean. But I will say: you need to work on your snide quips. That's just...sad. read the past 10 days of minor league discussion and boxes, there have been plenty of people talking about vitters. you popping in here with a "don't look now" is comical, because everyone who follows this section of the board knows he's been hitting better lately. Aww...it's ok. You'll get it right someday. I was pointing out that it's beginning to become somewhat sustained success instead of just a couple good games. Maybe I should watch my wording to keep the weiner-patrol from coming after me, but it just made you look pretty silly so I probably won't.

  13. Don't look now, but Vitters has an OPS of .870 in the past 10 games. And the first two games in that stretch were an 0-4 and 0-6. Hopefully it's not just a quick hot streak and he's getting AA figured out.
  14. Marry one, [expletive] one, shoot one. Go.
  15. It seems to me that a lot of people here undervalue Lilly. He's been very good for 4 years now. I'll be surprised if we don't get a fairly decent return even without having to pay any of his salary. He's not Cliff Lee but he's a pretty big deadline pick up.
  16. aside from jaime garcia, the rookies who have played well have been mostly blue chip prospects this year. none of this chris coughlin, j.a. happ [expletive]. as for castro, he makes too many errors still, but that's to be expected from a guy who's 20 years old. there's certainly a lot to be excited about with him... the rest of the team, not so much. Cashner, Soto, Gorzelanny, Marshall, Marmol and to a lesser extent Colvin and Wells? You're so emo.
  17. He's been disgusting lately.
  18. I don't think that's how the selection process works. But I've been wrong before.
  19. I thought I was going to be a rogue picking Swisher to win, but it looks like a lot of people are thinking that.
  20. Wed have to include a lot more than Lilly to get Upton. Also, I dont know how Lilly would fare in a divison loaded with sluggers and Im sure that the Yanks and Rays both have that in mind. He played for the Blue Jays before we signed him.
  21. Yuck. He needs to hurry up and figure AA out so I can rub it in jersey's face.
  22. Interesting subplot I had to look at that like 5 times to realize it didn't say "face raped and sodomized". I need to sleep.
  23. Yikes, 3 HRs given up by McNutt after not giving up a HR all season. Looks like he'll need time to adjust afterall. But he still has a great K rate, which leads me to believe he'll be fine and allows him to keep his place as my personal favorite pitching prospect.
  24. I think there's definitely something to this. When the wear and tear of the hit hits you, it hits you very suddenly. Like, for example, the 8th inning of game 6 in the NLCS. I blame the 2003 playoffs entirely on day games. 07 and 08 too, for that matter.
