  1. Just be yourself Old Style...remeber, it's our great beer and they can't have it. Anybody remember those commercials with Dennis Farina?
  2. Lets knock a few into that aquarium out there in right center!! I'm surprised PETA hasn't jumped on that yet. I mean, if a ball splashes down on one I imagine it would cause damage...or does that tank have a cover?? Anyway go CUBS!!
  3. Well, maybe I'm going blind as I get older because I just don't see it. He still makes the difficult plays look routine. I will definitely be watching a little closer to see if I see what you see. You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that.
  4. DeRosa as an All Star? I don't know about that. I think the only two positions where the Cubs shouldn't get all star consideration is 2B and CF. DeRosa's actually been the third best 2B in the NL this year (though far behind Uggla and Utley). If there's any position that shouldn't get all-star consideration after CF, it's 1B. Yeah because he has been the fourth best offensive first baseman, and the best defensive first baseman means he shouldn't get any consideration? Closer to the 12th best offensive first baseman with a .275 EQA, behind Berkman, Pujols, Gonzalez, Helton, Fielder, Conor Jackson, and Teixeira in the NL alone. And Lee hasn't exactly been the best defensive first baseman this year. Average, though. Have you watched any games this year? Lee has been solid defensively. Average...wow I sincerely hope that the Cubs being ultra-awesome is not going to bring a lot of Johnny-come-lately "watch the game" crowds to the board. Lee has been average defensively, yeah. Average my a@@...I'm not a bandwagon fan so back off. I've been a fan through the bad years too, going way back. Lee has definitely been better than average. If he is average like you claim, please elaborate on why.

  6. That was the Edmonds of old. The one that I loathed as a Cardinal. I still loathe him now, but he won't even perform, so it'll be even worse. This hatred will be a cross between Edmonds and Macias. I'm just throwing out some numbers...I'm not saying he's going to be the Edmonds of the past. Getting him for almost nothing it's worth a try. Who know's, maybe a change of scenery will do him some good. If it does'nt work out the CUBS release him and Pie comes back up. In the mean time Pie will get some consistent AB's at Iowa. It's a no lose situation IMO.
  7. Edmonds has a .303 avg. with 2HR's and 4 RBI's in 33 AB's against Maddux in his career.
  8. Given that Maddux has tough time holding runners close that may not be bad. Good point
  9. I doubt Fukudome will see anything good to hit today. I predict a couple of BB's for him today
  10. Signing any player is worth it so long as they contribute and help the team. I don't give a flying crap who Edmonds is...I care whether or not he can still produce, and he probably can't. I hope I'm wrong, but I doubt it. "The soul" of the team means nothing. I don't care where he came from or what he has said in the past as long as he helps the team win.
  11. The CUBS were once called the Orphans. One of their many names before settling on the CUBS.
  12. Or that it has been one hundred years...I'm getting sick of hearing that over and over again It will all be mentioned together. -You know it has been 100 years since the Cubs last world series championship. -Well, they had a shot last year, but were swept out of the NLDS by these Arizona Diamondbacks -Their best shot at ending the curse was 2003, when they were 5 outs away from winning the NLCS before the Bartman incident -Hey there's a foul ball right near where Bartman was sitting. -There's another pitch fouled off near the radio booth where Ron Santo is the color man -You know he was on that 1969 Cubs team that was caught from behind by the New York Mets in September -He was also in the on-deck circle that season when a black cat circled him -This curse believed to have started when a guy wasn't allowed to bring his goat to a game and cursed the Cubs to never winning another world series -Babe Ruth may or may not have called his shot in this very park years ago. -These fans have really suffered, the cubs are lovable losers That pretty much covers it. I won't be missing anything.
  13. Or that it has been one hundred years...I'm getting sick of hearing that over and over again I'm prepared for another afternoon of goats and Steve Bartman. I'm also vaguely willing to put money down on them mentioning Leon Durham. The question is whether they talk about the stories about the Cubs throwing the World Series against the Boston Red Sox back in 1918. That'll be fun. I will be unable to watch the game due to the Cards game being on here. The commentary will be predictable I'm sure.

  15. 20 bucks says he still hops He won't change anything. He is Sammy Soso part II.
  16. They will either lose by one or tie it and lose in the ninth. They always find a way to lose rather than win.
  17. Outside of Fukudome's 3 run HR I believe all the CUBS other homers have been solo shots. Is that correct? Correct How depressing
