  1. If he goes .270/.325/.350 at age 20, i highly doubt the cubs will give him the Pie Treatment. He's being brought up knowing how raw he is at age 20, i doubt the cubs are bringing him up on a short leash. Pie got the Pie Treatment when he was only 22. Exactly. I think people are underestimating the stupidity of this organization when it comes to player development for hitters. I'll give you guys this, if Lou has a quick leash on the kid than this is a stupid move but if he lets him play through his mistakes, its a good move.
  2. Why? Because the Cubs have a horrible track record of rushing prospects to the big leagues, jerking them around when they don't have an immediate positive impact, and then casting them off too soon when they prove to be a "disappointment" by 21/22/23 years old. He's almost being put in a position of needing to be a savior for this team, even if they claim he is not. Batting him 8th does him no favors either. I think you're overreacting, and this bull of cubs prospects being rushed or blah blah is kind of getting tired. To me, if a prospect is good, he'll be good, if he has potential he'll reach his potential under good coaching. Cedeno was hyped by the cubs not by other scouts, Cedeno turned out to be a ok to below average SS. Pie just wasn't as good as they thought, neither was patterson or choi. Wood and Prior were rushed but were as good as they thought, injuries hurt them. Like i said, if a player is good he'll end up being good. The way you put it, you make it seem like some of the prospects the cubs "Casted off" ended up being something somewhere else. If you could, can you tell me of those prospects you speak of that were casted off too soon and had success elsewhere?

He's being brought up knowing how raw he is at age 20, i doubt the cubs are bringing him up on a short leash. They know this kid still needs time to develop. I think the Cubs have the right hitting coach in place with Jaramillo and the right vets around him.

  5. It is somewhat of a panic move but with the way he was playing, he was probably going to be called up in June. Not sure that moving him to AAA for a month or so would've done him much good. I think with Jaramillo, it'll definitely be a good experience for him. Is it a panic move? Yes, is it a bad move? No, prospects are there to improve the roster. If anything i hope this eleviates some of the pressure off of Ramirez and lets him focus. Castro didnt seem to break under the pressure of spring training when so many people were talking about him.
  6. Anyone else getting the slight feeling that Lou might get Fired soon?
  7. Just a random thought but how much dumber doesn't hendry look for overpaying Grabow with the season Capps is having. He could've overpaid Capps and had his set up man instead of overpaying grabow for that role.
  8. Kaplan will applaud the move. Anything's better than that lazy Soriano. Plus you can't trust Geovany Soto coming off the bench in a situation like that. You have your bench guys, and you have your starters, and how many times do you see where a starter come off the bench and can't get it done. Especially lazy no good pieces of trash like Alfonso Soriano. A friend of mine at work actually knows Kaplan. Says he's a complete d-bag and is a complete d-bag to his former wife and kid. Just adding some more fuel to the fire.
  9. And you're surprised by that, he does it every time. Can't wait for Castro, i can't stand theriot and how thinks he's a good hitter. Got i hate this team, especially Lou and hendry. Hows that Grabow contract looking.
  10. Dont know but wow talk about BS when Lou said it wasn't a panic move, if thats not a panic move i dont know what is.
  11. Does this Mean Ozzie will move Peavy to the Pen?
  12. I mean is Piniella and the Cubs in general really that dumb to think Silva will keep pitching the way he has been? I mean really? I mean Zambrano is probably going to be good out of the pen in my opinion but to put a pitcher like him with a track record like his in the bullpen makes zero sense. Smoltz did but that was towards the end of his career. Wow
  13. Does anyone else get the feeling that this is a move to make Z want to waive his no trade?
  14. I have faith in the Ricketts. Any time Tom Ricketts was approached this summer he kept saying how our farm system is looking good and how he wants to build from within. It would be a different story if our GM was Ken Williams, who's pretty quick on trading prospects for Vets. I dont know about yall but i'm more excited about 2 years from now than this year. Hopefully these young guys pan out and we have an infield of Vitters, Castro and HJlee. And also B. Jack and Colvin in the outfield.
  15. I dont think so, not too mad about it. I mean thats less the number of pitches he throw on an off day for a workout. So pretty much this game was like a side session. Would've been worse if he labored and threw 30 pitches
  16. How many days has it been since Marmol Pitched? I mean I guess he needs to get some work done....?
  17. I f--ing hate dumb cubs fans that boo for no reason. Its always idiot fans that are drunk and weren't even paying attention to the game but as soon as they hear Soriano's name, they turn around and boo.
  18. Man, who was knocking that? I'd much rather have Miguel than Aramis. i would too, but cabrera is too fat to be a 3B. Good thought, but the tigers never wanted to move Cabrera. At one point they did. It was either going to be Granderson or Miggy. I was saying the cubs should trade for Miggy and let him play 3B for one year and let Lee walk in the offseason so Cabrera could go to 1st. Its wishful thinking but people were crying that no way should they trade Aram.
  19. And people were knocking me when i said trade him to the Angels for Prospects and try to get Miguel Cabrera from the tigers when the tigers were trying to shed payroll.
  20. Oh wow does Samardzija suck, just another wasted contract by hendry.
  21. Picture of Starlin anyone?....... I mean seriously, the guys issues two walks and you swing at the first pitch?
  22. Any time theriot strikes out, gets an error or flies out. Can someone post a picture of Starlin Castro?
  23. I hate Theriot too, partially irrationally. If they could trade him I'd love it. But as long as he's here, there's a significant likelihood that he will be at least as good as Castro right now. I would hate to see them go out and trade for a guy like Theriot, or sign somebody like that to a free agent contract when Castro is poised to take the position, but there's nothing wrong with status quo for now, and there are added benefits that should not be ignored. As a Chicagoan, i think my biggest worry is that the cubs treat theriot like the bulls treat Hinrich. What i mean by that is that they sign theriot to a overpaid long term deal eventhough he's a scrappy average player. And then they would justify it by saying he's a hard working player. I feel the cubs FO, Management and Some fans have built Theriot's ego to where he actually thinks he's a very good player and one of the best at his position.
  24. Well the Yankees can afford $15m at every position so that's a different story. The Cubs should take these things into consideration. And as long as they aren't purposefully starting a worse player, it doesn't hurt them at all to be more patient. True it also might just be that i hate theriot and wish the cubs traded him. I just can't stand all the singles he hits with no one on base. Not to mention the lack of range and noodle arm.
  25. Some of you have to realize he's 19yrs old 6'1 and 160lbs. Keith Law if i remember correctly, in one of his chats said that many scouts expect Castro to develop power because he still hasn't filled out physically. They expect the guy to be 6'2 and about 190lbs when he matures at about age 21. I think his wrists are the most impressive, not saying he'll develop into him but the way he handles the bat reminds me a lot of Manny Ramirez. I think with time he'll be more patient and pick his pitches better, if he fills out like he's expected to, i think he'll have pretty good power. As for the one more year of arbitration, to me it makes no sense to keep this kid in the minors one year longer just because it saves you some money. I mean the cubs aren't the KC Royals, they're a big market team, so stuff like that shouldn't matter. I highly doubt the Yankees would hold Montero back if they feel he's ready just save themselves one more year of eligibility.
