    There were a decent amount of fly balls tonight that would lead you to believe the ball is less juicy.

    Of course he's talented. That's not my point. The combine is a place where everyone goes crazy about hand size and vertical jumps and 40 times, as if those are the only things that matter (as opposed to, say, actual game play) Freakish measurable are something to get excited about when the freak is also freakishly skilled at the position. The times and measurements can likely also confirm things you think of a guy/his potential and probably also can be predictive and correlate to future success/failure at certain positions. Even if the time/measurement doesn’t seem like it matters at a position.

    Cotton looked really good today. That change up is filthy. FB was 92-93 per Arizona Phil, so that’s good since that was his FB average pre-TJ. Optimistic he can be a thing at some point this year, even if it’s just a RP/swing man role.

    My advice is to find any course/shop with a Trackman/fitters. I had to go a couple hours from home to find one but it is a great experience and last time I went we confirmed that new iron sets were not a better fit than my current set. PS - Get yourself a 3-wheeled push cart. They are awesome. I would second this. Find somewhere that has trackman. I got a new titleist driver and irons last winter. My course brings in reps throughout the year for fittings. The titleist rep had a trackman to fit me and set me up with completely different clubs and shafts I was thinking I needed/wanted going in.

    It’s a contract that’s not going to kill the team but I don’t see it in him. He throws basically only FBs and they’re dick shots more times than not with his poor command/control (23HRs in ~150 career innings). The velo swings wildly, even in the middle of outings, he’ll be mid-high 90s at times then barely 90 other times. Career 5+ ERA and 4+FIP/xFIP as a starter. I see more reliever than any sort of valuable starter in him.

    Or, you know, maybe they’re being pushed towards it because the science behind it has improved greatly over the years and the recovery/success rate is extremely high to get back to full strength and pitching again within 8-16 months. It’s the safer bet than trying any of the other rehab paths that guys have tried that usually fail and they end up needing TJ anyways and losing more time/money. But yeah it’s more likely it is somehow a collusion tactic to hold guys back for reasons.

    I think in Spring Training a lot of the time broadcasts don’t show this because not all the parks have the tech to broadcast it.

    Adam looks like a very intriguing bullpen arm. He has minor league options left too so he doesn’t necessarily need to start the year on the 26-man if they want to let Mills or Underwood or Megill get a first chance.
