  1. Pretty much made all the wrong moves in a league I really needed a win in this week (will fall to 2-5). Started Fred Jackson over Ahmad Bradshaw and Andre Holmes over Watkins and Hopkins also Hoyer over Ryan. Lost by 8 points. I make 1 of those moves and I win.
  2. Jose Bautista? Not necessarily a high salaried guy, but on a team who could maybe look to shed some, he's signed just through 2015 for $14 million and has a $14 mil team option for 2016. Throw him in LF. A 2-5 featuring Bautista-Rizzo-Bryant-Soler by May sometime would be deadly. Could be a "veteran" that they want and also a guy who's approach would be great to have to help influence the young guys, if you buy into that stuff.
  3. Yeah, I get what you are saying there. Just think it's a pretty big risk and obviously we don't know everything but it seems like Simmons has a overall pretty cushy gig at Grantland. Everyone has to put up with some sort of headache/annoyances at their job and a lot of the ones we get to see with Simmons largely come from him doing something dumb. It's not like he leaves all of the headaches at the door if he starts his own thing, they just get shifted to figuring out funding, advertising, staffing, etc.
  4. A star "talent" branching out on his own with the risk of less income over the near-term, but for greater opportunity in the long-term (financial and freedom from the bosses above) is a pretty common occurrence. Not sure what would be crazy about it. Grantland was supposed to be his "branching out." They basically said "Hey Bill, Page 2's traffic is literally all being driven in by you how about we fund and let you run an entire site based on the premise." He seems to have been given quite a bit of freedom on Grantland, whether he will admit it or not. He's not getting into a situation where he's making more money by leaving ESPN/Grantland when his contract is up, the only thing he will get is a little more freedom. Which I understand valuing that but he seems to have plenty other than being able to swear on his podcasts and threaten ESPN. It was a theoretical branching out that is really just him running a small department under the ESPN/Disney umbrella. Which he's getting paid more to do than he would be making if he started his own site without ESPN/Disney's funding and ability to drive in traffic. That's my point, he's not going to be able to make as much money by starting billsimmons.com.
  5. I may not be the best gauge here, but I benched Ryan in favor of Hoyer. I did the same thing in a league

  7. It would seem crazy for him to leave ESPN, I don't think there's another outlet out there for him to make the kind of money he's getting now+the exposure on top of being able to largely run his own site and get to pick what type of content he personally does with the frequency seemingly being on him. I guess maybe he just goes into the studio when his contract is up full time and then maybe does something on a smaller scale thru his own blog/site or something.
  8. You can pretty much do whatever the hell you want when there's no runners on base. I thought you always had to have something moving, you can't come to a complete stop/no moving parts, no?
  9. I thought you couldn't have a pause in your windup?
  10. Ahmad Bradshaw vs Cin or Fred Jackson vs Min Flex in a standard league
  11. Can/has he played the OF, specifically CF? Probably not. He's primarily a 2B whose dabbled at 3B. That's too bad, because his offensive profile seems really intriguing. Just don't see us having any interest if he's strictly a IF.
  12. Can/has he played the OF, specifically CF?
  13. That's all he needs to be if he's hitting 30-40 dongs a year, guy
  14. I remember a big Aramis HR in one of the games, that behind the back snag Wood had on a come backer and Kenny Lofton getting on base a ton.
  15. F that, have him work with Schwarber
  16. Also not that I think Renteria is all that bad, but this may be a good time to try and pry Maddon away.
  17. For GM or a Theo like role as President of Baseball Operations?
  18. He barely played this year so maybe he didn't qualify if he even did rank highly by the percentages/rate stats.
  19. Either way, those 3 weigh a decent amount more and are anywhere from 3-6" taller than Durant and also play a position that is more physically taxing.
  20. Basketball Reference has Durant listed at 215 http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/d/duranke01.html
  21. You do realize Durant is 6'10" right? Big guys in the sense they are really tall and carrying a bunch of weight. Those 3 I mentioned all probably carry 70-100 more lbs than Durant.
  22. I really only want Castillo on this team in a back up role at most next year.
  23. Also the players who have had their careers ended or put off track by the injury have mostly been big guys, iirc. Ilgauskus, Yao, Lopez (more of a wait and see as well).
  24. The fastest bat speed thing on Bryant is the first comment I've ever seen of the like regarding him.
