  1. With the Brothers release, I assume it means it's likely between Richard or Ramirez (hopefully they feel he's back or close to it) for the last bullpen spot?
  2. So all of our meaningful Dongsmith's now have at least 1 spring HR except Scharber, nice
  3. Robot Mode Arrieta [tweet] [/tweet] [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. - We have 9 players at 3+ WAR, 5 of which are at at 4+ and 4 at 5+ - The bullpen continues to be on of the best in the league by the numbers but the narrative of not having a good bullpen/it being a weakness continues - We trade for one of Gray, Carrasco, Fernandez at the deadline - Baez is good defensively wherever he plays but is a mess at the plate - Rizzo, Bryant and Heyward all finish in the top 10 in MVP voting - Bryant, Rizzo and Schwarber all hit 30+ dongs - 6 players hit for 20+ dongs - Jake's surface numbers take a slight step back but all the underlying numbers stay strong - Russell grades out as the 3rd best defensive SS in MLB - Lackey has a high 3s ERA - Hendricks and Hammel don't have as big of 2nd half fall offs they had last year and stay consistently good all year - Warren pitches great out of the bullpen but not as a starter when he gets a chance - Probably not exactly bold, but Theo inks the largest FO contract/compensation package ever which includes some ownership stake in the team
  5. This is really cool, saw it on a Mets board. It has every starting pitcher, at least every meaningful one, logged with a gif of them throwing all their pitches. http://www.pitcherlist.com
  6. I'll keep running with these, let me know if anyone wants someone added as we go. #1: Gleyber Torres #2: Willson Contreras #3: Albert Almora #4: Ian Happ #5: Billy McKinney #6: Eloy Jimenez #7: Dylan Cease
  7. Both his HR's this spring are vs LHP, it's the Addison Russell FU StylesClash Spring Training Tour
  8. I personally enjoyed the games on NYE, I get why others don't/why ratings were bad.
  9. So does this mean Gyorko is their starting SS?
  10. Saw the #6 voting closed Thursday and Tim said to get another poll up if he didn't. So here's #7 #1: Gleyber Torres #2: Willson Contreras #3: Albert Almora #4: Ian Happ #5: Billy McKinney #6: Eloy Jimenez
  11. Any reports on Ramirez's velocity today? Watching now and MLBN doesn't have a gun reading
  12. Unless we trade for a competitive balance pick, who cares? We won't be picking until like the 3rd or 4th round and our draft pool is really limited.

  14. I also think it's an equally premature and ridiculous assumption that Baez will be doing anything better than Russell that would warrant some sort of pseudo platoon/time split.
  15. Looking at those ZIPs projections..... The Cubs only play one team in April projected to be over .500. 3 games vs a team projected over .500 (Cardinals), 6 games vs rough .500 (Angels and D'Backs), and 15 (10 of which are at home) against projected under .500 (Brewers, Reds x2, Rockies and Braves).
  16. Jake announced as the opening day starter
  17. I don't think his defense is really that bad in LF. it's the new narrative after the ugly plays in the NLCS everybody nationally is convinced he is worse than adam dunn bad in LF now Yeah it's really horsefeathering dumb, but recency bias at its best. He was pretty adequate during the regular season and outside of a few flukey plays in the NLCS was fine in the playoffs. I'm really not all that worried about him being able to be a slightly below average LF. With Heyward moving to RF a lot more now I wonder if they shade Fowler a little more towards LF a lot of time to help out even more?
  18. Well, but you also have the lowest 6 records in the NL to balance that out. The AL won't get to beat up on those terrible teams as often as the NL. Yeah I think the top 4ish teams in the NL this year are gonna have inflated win totals vs projections while the bottom 4 have deflated totals due to the talent gap. I wouldn't be all that surprised if there's 3-4 90-100win teams this year and 3-4 90+ loss teams in the NL.
  19. Villanueva hurt his ankle during fielding drills today and apparently is going to get an x-ray. Hopefully it's not too serious, but him starting on the DL certainly isn't the worst thing in terms of being able to keep him.
  20. Probably should have taken that $100+ million extension, Ian. I know he was pretty bad last year, but I'm glad the Mets or Cardinals didn't get him, especially on this deal. Jackson seems to be a good fit for the Indians, Orioles and Angels.
  21. He's within a reasonable margin of finishing with more 3s than the entire Twolves team and getting close to the Bucks. He's at 288, Twolves are at 292 and Bucks at 315.
  22. Eloy
  23. 122, we break the game
  24. Yeah. We've really only given up Castro and some draft picks. It would be nice if we could package some hitting prospects for SP prospects or something, drum up some excitement from the pitching side of things, but I have faith we'll add more pitching when the deal makes sense for us. They've pretty much promoted all their big chips to the major leagues, and with the exception of Soler and Baez, don't really have impact trade pieces. I mean they still have a top 10 system by most accounts with a few guys taking steps forward by the deadline I think it's probable they can get a relative impact starter from using just minor leaguers.
  25. If I had to guess he gets the last bench spot over Szczur if he's healthy/doesn't look utterly terrible. Get a "veteran" on the bench and allows Szczur to get ABs everyday in Iowa.
