  1. I'd be very shocked if they only ever use in him the 9th inning/save situations. Especially in the playoffs
  2. Idk how to value it but we also did just potentially keep Chapman off all the other NL playoff teams/home field advantage competitors since the Nats, Cardinals, Giants, Dodgers and Mets were all rumored to be in on him at some point. Which has to be worth something.
  3. I'm not entirely convinced yet the Cubs gave up too much, but I don't want to root for him either. I agree, Torres to me turns out to be a little bit better version of Jean Segura.
  4. Yeah the trickle down effect is Travis Wood, Trevor Cahill and Justin Grimm are now essentially mop up guys. Which is pretty incredible because in the last 16 months or so all 3 have been incredibly effective at various points. Also a trickle down effect in a quicker hook for struggling starters getting high in pitch counts. True, John Lackey and his stupid teeth should never see life past the 6th inning the rest of the year
  5. I mean is it really that unbelievable that even tho they didn't extend him now, they have an understanding and are in the ballpark on a contract once the offseason gets here?
  6. Apparently the Royals asked for Giolito for Wade Davis
  7. The only thing I wish we did was just get him cheaper from the Reds in the offseason instead of now, but I am fine with what we gave up here. Plus who knows if the Reds would have traded him within the division and there was still uncertainty surrounding what his punishment would be and what had happened in his DV incident.

  9. I still think 4/60 is probably around where he ends up signing at in the offseason, but I wouldn't be surprised to see like 5/80.
  10. Szymborski's ridiculous projections on him going into the year that had be irrationally excited
  11. it's so weird to me hwo a guy like this ends up in a trade at all (like, "we'll only do this trade if you throw in 23 year old mediocre A baller RASHAD CRAWFORD), but then i guess i probably would've thought the same about josh donaldson 8 years ago. I'm guessing when guys like him are in deals it's because when he was available through the draft or IFA they had a scout that really liked him (relatively speaking) and when they saw he hasn't done much wanted to get him.
  12. The Anti-Schwarber Hate is getting stronger and stronger and they're all gonna look really silly next year Yup, it's gonna be great to see the tweets next year along the lines of "I was for trading Schwarber last year, but I didn't know he was THIS good."
  13. Theo actually PREFERS to have domestic abusers on the team and he's been conning us all along
  14. Well this is what Heyman tweeted 5 min ago, which again may just be more piggybacking or an actual report [tweet] [/tweet]
  15. I'd be surprised if it's something more than like Rob Zastryzny
  16. If they are going to move forward with this thing it sure would be nice if they get it done soon so Chapman could be in town tonight and we get the most possible innings out of him.
  17. People are really overrating McKinney here, his best outcome is like a left-handed Szczur who can only play LF.
  18. Mckinney doesn't turn 22 for another month and has shown success (last year) at AA. Warren is 35 major league innings removed from a 2 WAR season with 2 more years of team control. It's not Jimenez, but it's nothing considering 48 hours ago most people didn't want to trade Torres for Chapman straight up. If McKinney turned out to be Matt Murton, it'd be worthy of a parade. Warren has been a disaster. Recency matters a lot. Yeah McKinney isn't really a thing anymore, especially after the knee injury. He's pretty much only a LF at this point.
  19. Not nearly on this scale, but weren't some of the stadiums/facilities not even finished for the Olympics in China a few years ago? Or at least there were rumors they weren't going to be done in time.
  20. 4/60 would have to be one of the largest contracts to a relief pitcher ever, no?
  21. Torres for 4.5 years of Chapman is a good deal, IMO
  22. Screw him for that part, if true. http://www.csnchicago.com/chicago-cubs/frustrated-john-lackey-after-cubs-lose-milwaukee-big-leagues "This is the big leagues." You wouldn't know it by how you pitch, you redneck idiot. Seriously, horsefeathers this redneck country bumpkin and his 93 MPH fastballs
  23. So Dexter Fowler is like a 80 win player
