  1. Yeah give me 2013 Heyward next year and I'd be more than happy. Getting something resembling that would help pick up for the potential loss of Fowler.
  2. 1 year $10 mil for Cashner. Would've loved him for us on that deal.
  3. Davis didn't even get his injury fixed, right? He just rested and still has a tear in his elbow? Hard pass
  4. The Mets, because they have no money. But I agree they should be all over a Votto trade. Idk who 2 of the guys are in the Jays trade so can't say.
  5. The article said it's a concession to the players since the league wants to drop to ~28 players in September instead of the full 40-man being available (because of the boogyman that 40-man roster OMG games take forever in September narrative).
  6. I like this a lot
  7. I am always skeptical of guys like Kopeck with the absurd/sexy velocity. They seem to flame out more often than not, even considering pitcher attrition rate. Sure the fastball is huge, but is his stuff/command/feel that great? He walked 40 batters and gave up 42 hits in ~73 innings, that's allowing over 10 baserunners per 9 innings if my math is correct, pitching in rookie and A ball. That is a lot. I didnt really look at the hit/walks per 9. I should have done that. Even before that I was thinking he may be a late game pen arm. Perhaps that would help him harness the control a little more not trying to throw undeveloped pitches. This is also why I don't run any major league organizations. Trading Soler for a "pen arm" in A ball who appears to need some major work isn't something that interests me.

He walked 40 batters and gave up 42 hits in ~73 innings, that's allowing over 10 baserunners per 9 innings if my math is correct, pitching in rookie and A ball. In the AFL in 17 IP he's given up 13 hits, 1 HR, walked 7 and hit one batter as well.
  9. hmm...Those represent a couple of pretty extreme guys for comparison. I get the point that you're making. But Trumbo almost literally does nothing well but hit HR. Napoli will at least walk, but provides *very* negative value in the field and on the bases. I looked it up just because I was interested, Jorge (who most will say has sucked/failed expectations) still has a higher career BB%, BA, and OBP than Trumbo along with similar batted ball profiles. Kinda small SS for Jorge, but considering most thinks he's sucked it's crazy he's been better than Trumbo at a lot of things. Conversely it also points to whoever pays Trumbo the huge deal he's looking for is likely making a major mistake and misusing resources.
  10. This is kind of confusing, does this mean they're trying to swap pitching for pitching, trade for pitching, or trade their pitching? They are going to be this years D'Backs of last year and Padres of 2 years ago it seems like. They are going after Sale or Archer apparently so it's going to take a lot, I wouldn't mind seeing us getting involved as a 3rd team and sending something like Zagunis/Jeimer/etc. to help finalize it and snag one of the young pitchers being thrown around. Like the Dodgers did last year year with the Fraizer trade with the White Sox/Reds.
  11. Nah dude, don't you read Mets Refugees. All they need is to resign Cespedes and get all their pitchers back (who for sure are staying healthy this time because reasons) and they are gonna own us.
  12. How do his offensive numbers compare to Matsui, Fukudome, etc?
  13. Archer is the only Rays pitcher I really want/would be willing to pay for. Sure if we could get Odorizzi for Jeimer and like 1 of Zagunis, Caratini or Dewees and spare parts, great do it but it probably is going to cost more for him and at that point just sell out for Archer
  14. Would something like Soler, Happ/Jeimer and some other lesser piece(s) make sense for Cargo and Hoffman or Bettis? I don't think they'd move Gray but obviously include him in there if they were as he'd be a #1 target if available from them.
  15. I've thought about Pagan too. Is his D in CF that bad? Or is it hurt by playing in San Fran? Would a smaller OF help him become close to average out there? I think at this point of his career/age he probably couldn't play a good CF, but maybe you're right with a smaller OF, Heyward being a god in RF and our defensive positioning we could possibly squeeze some league averagey defense out of him out there.
  16. I kind of think they'll try and just let him be. Theo certainly takes human dynamic into things and I can easily see them not trying to lay a potential position on him, to go along with overhauling his swing. He's obviously great insurance if we don't acquire an OF(that can pass for a CFer). But I've seen enough of the reporters mention OF depth and Theo's comment tells me its not their preferred plan to play Heyward there anyway. I mean we were like 2-3 weeks away from starting the season last year with Heyward as the CF being our only real option out there. I think they are mostly fine with him there if they can't find someone on the FA/Trade market that fits what they want/think they need.
  17. Idk if it's even been rumored but signing Matt Holliday seems like the most Gianty Giant addition this offseason
  18. What about Pagan? He couldn't play CF but vs RHP put Heyward in CF and Pagan in RF? I don't love it, but if we are going the FA route of relatively cheap/bottom barrel/short term guys I think he'd be considered. Or else how expensive/available would Cargo be? Again can't play CF but can go to RF vs RHP with Heyward in CF.
  19. I kinda like the idea of the bullpens not being able to see the field, when the benches clear maybe we'd have a pseudo WWE boiler room type match in there
  20. They are going to try and "stretch out" Rosenthal and give him a chance at being a starter. Good luck, with that
  21. I saw earlier today, can't find the article now, but an anonymous scout/FO guy said he thinks Otani is getting a $300 million deal when he comes..... I guess in a market where guys think Nova is getting $100+ million you could make sense of it but I don't see it. Edit: Here's the quote and article http://nypost.com/2016/11/09/meet-baseballs-next-big-thing-a-babe-ruth-pitcherslugger-who-may-get-300m/
  22. Rizzo won the gold glove
  23. I would imagine if that offer was out there right now we'd do it
  24. Good god [tweet] [/tweet]
