  1. I don’t know how “good” he actually is but I remember him having some good games last year for my fantasy team when Allen, Gates, etc were all out and he was Rivers only really target
  2. Yeah, I absolutely sign Cobb and Chatwood at those deals. Pass on Minor at that deal for me personally, though I guess we were in on Cecil last year and he got a similar deal and both are kinda similar. History of injuries, especially as a starter, and moved to the pen and it clicked. Though if we are willing to go 4/30ish on Minor I'd rather just go 3/50ish or 4/60ish on Wade.
  3. Topkin must have graduated from the “Heyman School of Twittering.”
  4. If LaStella ended up with the Dodgers he’d turn in to left-handed Altuve after they gave him the Turner/Taylor secret sauce
  5. I’m guessing we won’t get an announcement on Hickey until Thursday at the earliest (first off day of WS) and likely not until next week after the WS now since MLB doesn’t like non WS related news/announcements on WS days.
  6. [tweet] [/tweet]
  7. Would Ross be a candidate to take Hinske's or Martinez's spot? Or like Borzello's if he gets bumped up to one of those spots? Or is he still to hated by the teammates?
  8. our farm system will never be elite again True. There are only a finite number of good prospects assigned to each team and no variability that makes one team better at developing prospects than another. And the Cubs just wasted their allotment. Or, you know when the restraints are off in IFA in a year or 2 they just won’t sign anyone because they’ve shown when they go all in without limits on IFA they can’t find prospects. Nope.
  9. Yeah it was a weird partnership from the start, especially from ESPN's side. They had to of known they were going to get blowback by doing a show with them and had to of calculated it was "worth the risk" to partner with Barstool to get their demo, so it's weird they are already pulling the plug for stuff that they should've seen coming when they initially started putting this together. But yeah ESPN is just a giant [expletive] of a company and agree they are very much on the downward trend and this whole thing with Barstool from the beginning to now is and was horsefeathering dumb.
  10. KB’s dad, imo
  11. Damn, seemed like a good dude (don’t know how great a coach he was) but seemed to be legit friends with a lot of the guys seeing them interact in the dugout. Good for him though. Part of having an amazing team/organization is losing coaches to promotions.
  12. What does he say about his pitching philosophy (Hickey) and how he handles pitchers? I also wouldn't mind interviewing M. Maddux and J. Farrell and seeing which one would be the best fit. The job does seem to be Hickey's if he wants it though. Conversation didn't get that deep but yesterday I did post a rays blog post that talked about that a bit. Yeah that was a good article and I liked what I read. I don't think his philosophy is all that different from Bosio, it seemed like he definitely likes the changeup more but got a lot of the same vibes that he, like Bosio just kinda want guys to throw and do what works best for them and they will tweak accordingly off of that (doesn't seem like either feel like there's one right way to pitch mechanically or otherwise or preach there's certain pitches that shouldn't be thrown or try to get guys to throw pitches they can't really throw). Hickey definitely seems to be more well regarded across the league and I like that he and Maddon have worked together before and would seem to be on a better wavelength. Also seems like Hickey should do a better job developing guys (not really Bosio's fault we didn't have great prospects) but Hickey had to pretty much deal with entirely internal/org guys in Tampa so you'd think we might get a little bit better system/philosophy set up to develop pitchers that we draft or acquire at the minor league level.
  13. Good stuff, as always, Duke. I didn’t do as deep a dive as that but the velo and more surface Home vs Road splits were things I looked at and stood out. Him only being 28 come next year helps too. What’s the thought on what it would take to get him? Is my 2/32 even in the ballpark? Think it will take 3 or 4 years? He might be my favorite non Otani FA SP target.
  14. The Rams are a top 3 team, the NFL is so dumb and shitty this year
  15. Having some time to look at options today........ Tyler Chatwood really intrigues me quite a bit. I would be all for giving him the deal Lackey had, 2/32. I could live with a Chatwood and Cobb offseason then try and find a Monty type guy to trade for that wouldn’t cost a major piece and would have minor league options. Cobb, Chatwood, low-mid level trade SP, some combination of 2-3 of Wade, Shaw, Nicasio, Oh, McGee, Minor and Liriano, a trade for Yelich (Happ + minor leaguers and take back Chen/Volquez contract), bring back Rivera for backup C and look at Maybin or Jay as the back up OF would be a just fine offseason by me.
  16. Is this Vosler guy a thing? He seems to be getting hits every day.
  17. He was like 2nd in DRS at SS in all of MLB even with his missed games, unless he has some degenerative issue in his shoulder/arm he’s the SS of the next decade roughly no questions asked
  18. I don’t see any indication by what they’ve done or said that would suggest they like Baez more than Russell at SS. This (posted above) would be the closest thing to that... [tweet] [/tweet]I feel like that’s the Theo nice way of saying “hey stupid fucks, Russell is the SS and you’re and idiot if you think Baez is better.”
  19. If you include Baez in that group(even though his odds of getting dealt are near nil), then it's him. After that, it's probably very situational depending on a team's evaluation and their needs. There's arguments to be made for Schwarber, Almora, and Happ. Would arguments for Russell be lower than any of them? Starting to wonder if the FO likes Baez at short. I don’t see any indication by what they’ve done or said that would suggest they like Baez more than Russell at SS.
  20. Russell has got to be the most untouchable player on this team not named Bryzzo Willy. Not even close. Willy and Russell are both in the same group for me below Bryzzo in terms of untouchableness. Neither should really be available unless it’s the perfect deal and not a pitcher. Like if Trout was available they’d be in play and that’s about it.
  21. Never know what could have happened between Thursday and this morning too. Maybe in doing an exit interview or something with Bosio they just didn’t like how it went/where it was going.
  22. 2 of Almora/Schwarber/Happ, Monty and a combo of the following guys; Zagunis, Zas, Albertos, Caritini, Tseng, De La Cruz for Betts or Benintendi (lead off hitter), Price (Red Sox throw in ~$50 mil of remaining ~$150) and Eduardo Rodriguez. Who says no?
  23. I think Happ is most likely. I think in the end nobody gets traded and that would be my bet. I think they like (rightfully so) all of Schwarbs, Javy, Almora and Russell (Russell is nearly untouchable to me) too much that they wouldn’t be moved for anything less than a Archer, DeGrom or Stroman level pitcher.
  24. If it is Hickey I wonder if that means they’d really go hard after Cobb or McGee in FA or Odorizzi in a trade.
