  1. Players union rejected the league’s pace of play proposal (personally I’m glad)........ but in talks about it the players brought up bringing back bullpen carts and apparently it didn't get far....... who could be against bringing back these glorious things?!?!?! http://www.mlb.com/images/8/1/2/242028812/071317_bullpen_cars_orioles_mid_23u9ygaz.gif http://www.mlb.com/images/8/3/0/242028830/071317_bullpen_cars_comp_mid_ltyhg01a.gif
  2. I keep seeing one of the QBs at 1 to Cleveland and Barkley being the 4th pick, unless they really love one of the QBs (which it doesn't seem to be clear yet) idk why they wouldn't just take Barkley 1 to insure they get him and take one of the QBs at 4 (since only 1 will go before 4 if they don't pick one at 1) or use that pick to trade back to a team that really likes on at 4 to get more picks and trade for Smith or sign somebody and take a QB in later rounds/keep trying to develop Kizer. That would seem like the best use of resources if they aren't sold on any of the QBs or have them all similarly rated.
  3. Jake has “only” made a little more than $30 million in his career, I’m guessing he has an offer out there for at least double that in guaranteed money. While that would likely disappoint him and maybe he’s being stubborn..... I don’t think he’d be dumb enough to risk it and not take that at the end of the day, especially if he’s given an opt out or 2.

  5. I'm happy Willson feels that way, but it kind of sounds cocky and arrogant lol. Maybe wait a couple more years before saying that? I mean saying that you're going to be better than B. Posey is possible down the road. We'll see, but B. Posey is going into the HoF so you're basically saying you're better than a HoF catcher. Yeah it’s cocky and arrogant and if you say stuff like this it opens up to extra criticism (and knowing Yadi/Cardinals probably bean balls and maybe an injury). But privately I bet most guys feel they are the best and better than the best. Lackey probably thinks he’s still a good MLB pitcher and could go head to head with kershaw, Scherzer, etc
  6. Willson put up more WAR last year in only ~115 games than Yadi has put up in any of the last 4 seasons. Also Yadi considering himself in the same class of Buster is laughable
  7. Joel Sherman threw out 6/120 for Darvish with $30 mil the first 2 years, $20 mil the next 2 and $10 mil in the final 2 years with opt outs in years 2 and 4. Yes, please
  8. The pen was mostly very good last year, it didn’t need an “overhaul.” Barring crazy injuries it’s going to be a top 3-5 pen in baseball. Morrow and Carl have the ability to be top 12-15 RPs in all of MLB, Strop, Monty, Wilson and Cishek have the ability to be top ~30 RPs in all of MLB then the last sport or 2 has flexibility/upside with Maples, Duensing, Grimm and some of the guys in the minors.
  9. Last year was the first year since 2013 he had a xFIP/FIP under 4 and he’s 35. With all this talk about being extra careful with the LT it just seems like an unnecessary $3.5 million in aav to have on the books the next 2 years. I’d prefer to go the NRI route with a few guys to compete for this bullpen spot. But whatever it’s not worth getting upset about. Hopefully this signals they have the route locked in on the final SP spot and that gets done soon.
  10. It’s tough for me to see it being Jake because at worst he’s probably looking at 3/55 and probably will end up around 4/85. That’s still a lot especially since he hasn’t made a ton in his career. Moustakas was my guess because he actually isn’t very good and I could see him having only 1 year deals out there and he probably thinks of himself as a top 3B.
  11. This seems dumb and unnecessary
  12. I could see it being Moustakas or just it being nonsense Boras/an agent is spreading
  13. I always just assumed it was for their love of chewing tobacco
  14. The Cardinals should be more optimistic/worried about beating out the Brewers for 2nd and one of the WC spots than they are for catching us for the division
  15. 7 years seems a little much but under the right deal (like 6/135-140 I could live with it if there’s opt outs and front load it with with like $30mil first 2-3 years) I’d be able to live with that. The AAV is a relative steal at that and with front loading it hopefully he pitches good enough in years 2-3 he opts out (after getting about 2/60-3/90) and you aren’t stuck with like 3/80 on the backside.
  16. Things are starting to pick up a bit it seems
  17. They’re “only” 4 losses off the most losses and 2 off of being inside the top 4-5 most losses. Let’s settle down here a bit guys. They are 7 games back in the L column of the playoffs, that isn’t gonna happen. While exciting and young this roster has potential to only win 12ish more games the rest of the way.
  18. I wonder what it would take to get him
  19. No. We can do both.
  20. I know this a Bears centric convo and he's likely not a target but watching probably a half dozen regular season games then the SEC Championship and the Playoffs I'm in love with Roquan Smith. I could see him being the best non-QB/Saquon Barkley player in this draft.
  21. 5/80-90 would be amazing if the Yankees think that's where his market is at right now (not where they would go to). I'd do 4/90 with opt outs in the first 2 years and call it a day.
  22. Yeah don't blame them for trying to keep the window open (I would've gone the blow up route) but if enough things fall right that team can compete for the division or a WC. A lineup with Posey, Longoria, Belt, Crawford and McCutchen hitting 2-6 in some order could/should be pretty good (even if they are all hitting the downward side of the aging/performance curve).
  23. I’m actually surprised that’s not double digits. Pats were -13.5 vs the Titans. I do agree there’s a scenario with the Jags pass rush/defense and running game that they keep it close or even win but that’s a narrow margin. I think the Pats by double digits is far more likely.
