  1. Wilson threw a scoreless inning with no walks, that’s good to see I guess
  2. I know (think) this is a joke but he had to leave the Tigers this week for a “health issue” so hopefully he’s okay. Also blaming pitching/hitting coaches for performance 14 games in might be the dumbest thing of all in making any sweeping statements early on in a year.
  3. For as annoying as the start has been at least we have one of the best 3-5 players in MLB [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. Lol. They’re going to work unless you think any of them have an injury. like half the posts on nsbb are about the volatile nature of pitchers, but somehow it doesn't apply to the cubs. It certainly applies but all these guys have a huge history of performance that I’m going to rely on more than 2-3 starts in to a season. Especially when most of the underlying things they’re doing (like velo) seem to be mostly in line with their career. It’s not like last year when Jake/Hendricks were throwing 3+ MPH less and we had legit things to worry about that something might be wrong. If you think something is wrong, what do you think is actually wrong with any of the SP other than having some bad starts (which every one of them is going to have and will have more of as the year goes on)?
  5. Lol. They’re going to work unless you think any of them have an injury.
  6. In real fun with SSS he only had 2 Ks in his last 14 PAs going in to today. But yeah the Ks are going to be a problem. When Rizzo gets back (moving Zobrist to OF more) I think Happ is going to be the guy to see the most playing time drop off. It really should become a Almora/Heyward/Schwarber quasi platoon with Zobrist playing LF/RF depending on the combo of the other 3 playing on a given day.
  7. Navarro hit that ball harder than all but maybe 3 Braves hits today
  8. If we are going to make conclusions on the 14 games then they really haven’t played garbage teams. Throw out the Reds because it was one game and it’s the Reds and 3 of the 4 teams they’ve played are .500 or better and combined the record of those 4 teams is over .500. So if you want to make sweeping judgements of n the Cubs so far you’d also have to admit they’ve played good teams using that sample. But yes, we’ve obviously played like ass.
  9. Javy’s swings with 2 strikes today have been brutal, not that they usually aren’t, but always bugs me how big a swing he takes in that spot. Is what it is, wish it would change.
  10. We. Made. The. NLCS. That’s the goal? To get destroyed in the NLCS? Last year these guys cried about being tired in the NLCS because of how much effort they had to use in the 2nd half to make up for their horsefeathers start. Yes, that’s the goal.
  11. Almora had a good jump and break there and still would’ve been out by 3-5 feet with a good throw. My god is he slow
  12. I don’t even know if this is accurate, but it feels like they put more balls in play than us. It’s pretty much the same. Both around 30% combined K/BB total (so balls in play for both about 70% of the time). We hit the ball harder too, they hit it “medium” more.
  13. Sure would be nice to see our balls in play find holes like this
  14. Not to keep using it as an excuse but the Braves really didn’t have many hard hits off of Q. He didn’t do himself any favors with being wild and the HP ump sucked as well, but he wasn’t giving up rockets all over the place.
  15. Ball 3 was strike 3 but this ump is a bumbling idiot who got fooled by Willy’s shitty receiving skills
  16. Were u saying this last Sunday when Q was shutting out the Brewers?
  17. horsefeathers this HP ump. Should’ve been 1-2 on Bourjous and never been in this spot
  18. With so few teams having money this offseason it robs LT makes sense to let him see what offers he gets since they can always match (he’s restricted, right?). No need to outbid yourself.
  19. Cain and Santana collided in CF tonight and apparently Santana hurt his leg. Cain was already banged up and not moving great either.
  20. We basically have the same lineup now as we did then except Schwarbs for Miggy and guys playing different positions and we still only have 1 starter over 30. #WindowClosed Edit: yes I intended that to be a positive and good observation
  21. Vaunted Pirates lost by 5 to the Marlins. Maybe the deal was we’d split with them if they help take care of the vaunted teams in the division for us
  22. We also have thousands of posts showing Duker is right 92 percent of the time. Therefore, I'm not in the least bit worried. you obviously did not pay attention in all of 2017 when he nearly killed everyone on the team Duke did that to them to build character and grit
  23. I’m not trying to make excuses for them either, it’s frustrating no doubt and they are professionals so figure it out. But they’ve kinda had a weird schedule to start the year to get in to any sort of rhythm or routine with starting with so many games on the road, having 2 rain/snow outs and just extra off days and playing in mostly shitty weather in general (yeah the other team had to deal with it too), Rizzo going down so dudes playing unfamiliar positions, etc. it hasn’t been the most “normal” start.
