  1. In terms of jackhole local newspaper humps, bloggers and radio/TV guys looking to fill space/time? Absolutely. Obviously nobody was talking about in the context of how many people regularly show up to the games, so that was just a pointless tangent to begin with. All of these markets, however, have obsessive local media outlets picking over the local teams and players. Chicago is nothing special in that regard, and it's an absurdly lame bit of masochistic egotism to think so. I mean, what the heck do you guys think the (actually) four sports stations in Atlanta talk about? "Uhm, I dunno...maybe we'll talk about sports eventually. Does anyone else really like Coke and flying on Delta?" I know I’m responsible for starting this topic and my point really wasn’t to say Chicago has it so much worse. There’s certainly awful writers everywhere. My point was it seems like there’s especially a lot of bad writers currently in Chicago/covering the Cubs and I didn’t know if it was that bad everywhere else. There’s like 6-8+ guys running with the Darvish mental midget narrative since Spring along with looking for every negative angle to take with the team and baseless, idiotic claims/narratives. I mean Theo had to go on the radio last week to tell these idiots to shut up about the stupid Russell+ for Machado rumors they started out of thin air.
  2. Can’t wait. It’s gonna be like how everyone hates the Warriors now
  3. [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. How I feel now about the Duke'ster starting a GT that will lead to good things and a long winning streak vs how I feel after something terrible happens in the game because the Duke'ster said good things would happen and we end up on a losing streak
  5. Hearing bats over arms from Law pleases me
  6. When you make a comment about a Cubs player doing well and the Duke'ster chimes in he has an article cooking on that subject and you have to make it clear to him not post it http://gifimage.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/george-costanza-gif-3.gif
  7. It’s not a surprise but this twitter thread pretty much sums up how I feel now. Which I’ve already made clear. [tweet] [/tweet]
  8. Seems like every start going in to there’s the tweets and articles by the usual idiots about the 5th inning mental stuff, after every game there’s a mention of the mental stuff (regardless of good or bad start). The Score is all over this mental stuff to. Idk, I’ve seen a lot of it. It’s by the awful hack guys that shouldn’t be taken seriously, but they have a large reach and it’s clearly hit an audience (even if it’s a vocal minority) that now it’s gotten to Yu. Every article in Spring was focused around him being mentally weak and soft and building in the narrative he’s soft if things went bad early too.
  9. I guess. Just seems like the lack of mental fortitude, gutless choking dog, big softy, Yu articles are everywhere by these idiots which seems a bit over the line to me to be pushing such nonsense narratives. And these guys were building in that stuff to their stories from spring for the “fans” who read them to jump all over him the first sign of trouble.
  10. I agree. Maybe every big market has it but there really seems to be just a lot of awful media guys around the Cubs right now. Not only are they just bad at their jobs in general, but they push careless stories that carry ridiculous and sometimes harmful narratives to a lot of “fans” who are idiots themselves but also trust these guys to tell them how to think about certain issues and players. Especially the ones that are at the “established,” big name outlets.
  11. horsefeathers the majority of the Chicago media guys because they are responsible for pushing their garbage that makes the fans have this sentiment [tweet] [/tweet]
  12. Saw Rogers tweet Javy hasn’t walked in like 177 PAs. I know he is what he is and he’s never gonna be even a decent walk rate guy but that’s pretty ridiculous even for Javy standards.
  13. Yup. Win big usually and lose little sometimes. It's pretty great. It’s frustrating at times but yeah I’d take this offense over one that scored 2-3 runs more often but getting over 4-5 runs didn’t happen often.
  14. Oh well, won another series. Playing mostly good baseball for the last few weeks. Go win the series in NY this weekend.
  15. Heyward is the greatest player of all time
  16. Score and win or pitch Wilson to his arm falls off that’s the only 2 options, imo
  17. Buncha soft contact in advantageous count, BUMS!
  18. Sweet contact in hitters counts the last two innings, idiots
  19. I would’ve considered PH’ing Zobrist for Almora there
  20. They’ve always been careful with him going 3rd time through the order and you absolutely should pull him there to try and score that run
