My only concern is this long stretch without a day off will have a toll. We just need the Cardinals to cool off by then Yeah. I'm a bit worried about the rest of this 23 game stretch. The Mets suck. but it looks like we're getting both deGrom and Thor, and then on the road for Braves/Phillies/Brewers/Nats. I think we're going to give back a few games during this stretch, so it would be really nice to be up 4+ going into Monday. That being said, the Cubs have 35 games left. If they go 18-17 they'll end up with 92 wins. The Cards would need to go 20-13 (98 win pace) and/or the Brewers would need to go 20-12 (101 win pace) to match that. At least it looks like the wind will be going out pretty good vs deGrom and Thor and their offense sucks and have Hamels going in one of the games. So at least it’s about as good conditions as possible facing those two.

Obviously the KB news is the big and important and great news but hearing Smyly is doing a sim game is also good to hear. I hadn't seen much on him lately and was wondering if he found Eddie Butler's cabin in the woods and was MIA. -

He’d probably be one of their 3-4 best starters, so it probably helps them and I honestly wouldn’t have minded us getting him if we are going to have a Mills/Farrell/Underwood/Bullpen day every 5 days here. But it helps us today most likely since they’d have to start like Cody Reed or Lorenezen or something.

Who knows on part one, seems plausible though he had a few okay starts and the stuff/velo was mostly good. Second part it’s too early to definitively know but he said he expects to be ready to go right away in ST next year. Which if all it is, is this stress reaction and the bicep/tricep soreness he has plenty of time to rest and recover.

The ump was waiting to hear the ball hit the glove before the foot hitting the bag but Murphy throws it so soft he heard nothing

Should really put Heyward in RF and Zobrist at 2B in the 6th here for defense and get Murphy out. Getting outs is more important than another Murphy AB at this point. IMO

I mean, maybe Javy gets that, but I really doubt most 2B get there He just looked so painfully slow going for it. I think there’s a decent chance Heyward gets to both of Hamilton’s balls if he's in RF instead of Zobrist too.
