  1. They’re all relative success, even as first round picks. Most don’t even make it. But it’s time to stop depending on them. Almora and Happ especially.
  2. Almora should start grabbing the 1B glove on his groundouts. If that’s not challengeable, could unlock some hidden value.
  3. This team is so dumb and bad. Eat that ball Javy and have the awareness to come off the bag and knock that down, Bote.
  4. My god, Willy. Javy, KB and Heyward should be the only guys allowed to take extra bases on this team. Everyone else is forced to be station to station runners.
  5. His defense is historically bad at 3B vs just being not very good in LF/RF.
  6. Wieck seems to have intriguing stuff, lots of Ks and not a lot of walks. Good velo for a lefty and he’s like 6’9”. Seems like he might just need some tweaking.
  7. Hope he figures it out. Hopefully we somehow pulled Margot out of this deal. [tweet] [/tweet]
  8. Kemp will be on the bench tonight, Phelps is there too. Underwood sent down.
  9. He has a career 103 wRC+ vs RHP. That’s better than a lot of the Happ/Bote/Descalso/etc bunch has been for some time. Bote or Descalso, sure. But I'll take most every lefty over him against RHP(Caratini, Rizzo, Robel, Schwarber, Heyward, Happ, Zobrist when he comes back) plus the obvious Bryant, Baez, Contreras; and there's more than a few situations where I'd rather have Kemp or even potentially Almora(if contact was goal #1). It's not that he's completely unhelpful, I know I'm being a little harsh in the characterization. But I don't see this as any different in terms of impact as Kemp or Maldonado, and not a 'big bat' or major acquisition in the sense that even Murphy was. Him and Almora have almost identical contact rates this year and are like 3% apart for their careers.
  10. Does Castellanos not move into a platoon with Schwarbs? Or does he play right and move Heyward to Center? That probably depends on a number of things, from how well Happ and Bote play, to if and when Zobrist comes back. Castellanos being a nothing against RHP is bad either way, because even if you aren't overextending him, he's a guy who's easy to game plan around in late innings and he lacks a defining tool like Daniel Murphy's contact ability to help smooth that out. He has a career 103 wRC+ vs RHP. That’s better than a lot of the Happ/Bote/Descalso/etc bunch has been for some time.
  11. Does Castellanos not move into a platoon with Schwarbs? Or does he play right and move Heyward to Center? I’m guessing he’s closer to full time starter than platoon guy, he probably sits vs some RHP. I think I’d send Bote down for ~2 weeks for him and see if Bote can hit a mini reset.
  12. Drafting soft tossers who don’t top 88 finally pays off!
  13. Excellent, a much more solid deadline with this move.
  14. I like the lineup again, all things considered, much like I’ve liked the lineups the last few days. So they’ll probably score 2-3 runs.
  15. Save around $600,000 with this, if the budget was tight this should allow for a decent add yet. You’d think.
  16. why? Can play multiple spots, can take a walk, is fast enough to steal a base, has been a league average hitter to better the last two years. He’s not Almora, Descalso, Bote, Garcia or Happ?

  18. Is that Derek Johnson?
