  1. Didn't Patton come from the Rockies? Can we be maybe sending him back for Baker? A man can dream right?
  2. I would really like if we could figure out a way to get Sanchez and Hanrahan in a package deal.
  3. Down with Hendry, up with Backtobanks. Am I right? Or am I right?
  4. Stupid. He's our top prospect and he should be getting as many at-bats as possible. The whole Cubs organization is mentally challenged. Vitters may be ready for adv A pitching, but is he up to playing for Mr. Personality, Buddy Bailey ? He is the "manager from hell" and a detriment to the Cubs organization. :banghead: Care to elaborate? I don't follow the minors much.
  5. Not all trades go through a heavy rumor cycle before happening. But it's probably not a legit rumor. Yeah, I have trouble believing that after uncermoniously dumping Trevor Hoffman theyd go ahead and trade his heir apparent whose under team control for 2 more years. He's 31, by the time the Padres will be a competitive team again he will at least be in his mid 30's/close to 40. Might as well trade him now and come close to maximizing his value. This would be a Moneyball like move, find a closer build up value and trade him when the market over values him, isn't Depodesta (sp?) with the Padres?
  6. So how many times over the next week, as we await Ramirez's return, will we hear getting him back is just like making a big time trade at the deadline?
  7. But we are in a "win now" mode and out window is maybe through 2011. We are dealing from a strength (rotation) to probably our second biggest weakness (bullpen) while our rotation should remain solid especially if Z and Dempster pick it up a little. I like the move, but Hendry will probably have to overpay, Bell is a "Closer" and has a lot of "Saves" and a ERA under 2.00 (even though he has pitched like 32 innings). Now if Marmol can figure his ish out a 7-8-9 of Guzman-Marmol-Bell is looking awfully nice and now Gregg/Ascanio/Heilman/Patton won't need to pitching in too many late inning meaningful games.
  8. In that thread it talks about Wells for Bell and putting Shark into the rotation. I guess that would make some sense with Shark called up today at least along the line of thinking by the Cubs to make sure Shark isn't used in AAA anymore incase he is needed to start. Marshall should be starting in that situation, but you know Lou needs his LOOGY. Also does that website have any cred? Also anyone else see that "tweet" that reported a deal was close?
  9. Vitters 0-3 but did have a BB, which is very nice to see.
  10. That's really not fair though two of those are by Fontenot, who's garbage. One is Lilly. Should only be 3. But he still is facing an opposing pitcher in the other games that helped him accumulate his K/IP # and most teams have a guy that is similar to Fontenot's suckage I don't know about that. Who do the Cardinals have who is as bad as Fontenot? The Brewers? Thurston, Ankiel, Hart, Hall, Duffy, Catelanto, Kendall, Greene, Barden

  12. Mike Fontenot sucks, seriously he might be a bigger waste of a roster spot right now than Patton. Yup I just said that.
  13. You would still be blacked out tonight (both feeds) because it's still the Cubs playing and you are in their blackout area. Depending on you internet connection you can be very close to real time, but for the most part I usually am about 10-15 sec. behind (or about 2-3 pitches).
  14. Yeah but I'd rather his OPS be OBP-heavy than SLG-heavy. We need guys like him getting on base, not cranking HRs. I agree I would rather have Theriot, who will most likely be batting 2nd the rest of the season, having a OBP strong OPS and not a SLG strong OPS. Theriot's OBP is what .335 right now? I would much prefer he went back to his slap hitting, going to RF, working the count ways and had a OBP around .370-.385 and SLG about .100ish points less. yeah but i don't think you can assume that pitchers are going to keep walking theriot 73 times a year if he is just a singles hitter. I agree, but if he goes back to his old ways his BA will probably rise a little as he swing will be shorter and he will focus on just putting the ball in play instead of driving it. So you also have to take that into account, but I do agree he probably will need to hit .310-.320 to maintain a high .300 OBP.

  16. Anybody watching the MIL. game? WTF kind of IBB throws were those first 2?
  17. You have to think we'd have 1-2 more wins right now if he had been called up right when Ramirez went down and was playing 3B/DH since then consistently
  18. I have seen absolutely nothing about him since going on the DL, hopefully it really was just precautionary and there isn't anything to report and not that they are trying to figure out what to do with him/what's wrong with him.
  19. Hopefully he doesn't make the ASG, and he can get at least 3-5 days off.
  20. Mets get 2 runs, after Casey Mcghee drops a flyball Luis Castillo style.
  21. Started out really strong (probably the best he's looked all year). Hitting 94-96 consistently and his change/slider/sinker/split/whatever you want to call it was moving all over the place and he had great command. He has lost his command a little over the last inning 1/2 leaving balls up and not on the corners as much, but his velo has stayed in the mid 90's.
