  1. That was the first time I have ever seen Snead play, and he looked terrible. The play calling and the fact that they didn't use their best RB until late in the game probably didn't help him.
  2. Do these refs got money on that game? What kind of horsehowry call was that?
  3. Even if they worked from the first day that Chicago weather will allow it to the last, that'd take longer than a season, don't you think? I know it was a different situation/stadiums, but about how long did it take the Packers/Bears to renovate? The Cubs would save a little time, because the bleachers/scoreboard that would likely stay and they just redid the field so no work would have to be done there. I would think 1 1/2 years maybe?
  4. Great career. Makes me wonder what type of offseason the Braves are going to have. There was talk of them trying to trade of Vazquez, but you have to think they are going to try and make one final push for the man. I could see them going after Holliday or looking to trade for an equally as good middle of the order bat.
  5. Wells is starting in one of the games of the DH against the Pirates, FWIW
  6. really? I am an idiot. Forgot that guy named Mauer...
  7. Awesome so they will steal both the MVP and Cy Young then from deserving players from the Central. Why not just rewrite the rules to best Yankee-RedSox? Yeah it's frustrating, but all you got to look to is Pedroia winning MVP last year. From here on out the award of MVP has diminished value to me. Who should win MVP from the central? Cabrera? Oh and just watching ESPN and what not, it looks like there is a push for Jeter to win a GG this year
  8. If Sabathia can get to 20 Wins and 200 K's, I think he will get it. I think even if he gets to 19 W's and 200 K's there is a real good chance he gets it. Not that I think Sabathia deserves it, but let's remember who is voting here...
  9. I got 6 guys for 2 spots I need to fill a RB spot and WR/RB spot T. Hightower @ IND B. Jacobs @TB P. Harvin SF R. Bush @ BUF M. Bush DEN L. Johnson @ PHI
  10. Oh my God, HE'S MARK-FREAKIN'-DEROSA. Yeah well if his replacement is Joe-Freakin'-Thurston, Julio Lugo, or Kahlil Greene I think losing DeRosa would have a pretty big impact on the Cards.
  11. When I first heard about Cameron I was absolutely turned off by the idea, but after thinking about it for a while I think he could be a solid acquisition for the right price (under $8 mil.) I could see Hendry adding Cameron and signing one of Scutaro (move Theriot to 2B), Hudson, Lopez to fill the 2B gap. If the Cardinals don't resign Holliday or DeRosa I think we will be the favorites to win next year. Also yeah we have a lot of committed money for 2010 but after next year we potentially lose Lee, Aram, and Lilly. That's nearly $45 mil. coming off the books. We could afford to spend a little money this year if we decided that at least 1-2 of those guys wouldn't be brought back.
  12. He has no business starting a MLB game right now. I wish the FO would stop being jackasses and just let him sit in the minors for a full season and work on stuff. Instead of jacking him around from the minors and majors 20 times a season.
  13. Does Colvin's stance not look like a left-handed version of Murton's?
  14. No way we should pay him the $10 mil. that he is making this year, but if we could get him on a 1 year del for $6-7 mil. or a 2 year deal for $13ish I wouldn't be opposed to the idea.
  15. I wonder if the Cubs could get anything for him in the off season? I don't see a point in that, he is cheap and very talented and should have the inside track for a set-up role next year. unless we pull off a big trade that needs his involvement, there really is no reason to trade him.
  16. So how many years like this, or at least close to it do you think Lee has left? I wouldn't be surprised if Hendry tries to extend him 3-4 more years in the offseason. Might have a positive effect on payroll if he backloads it like usual and Lee takes a slight salary decrease for next year (overall salary increase for the life of the deal) maybe we save $3-4 this year and can add a little extra. Just a thought.
  17. Grit factor also tips in DeRosa's favor
  18. In the long run they're basically a wash. DeRosa: .257/.326/.451 .777OPS 23 HR Bradley: .257/.378/.397 .775 OPS 12 HR Take into account DeRosa can play multiple positions and is at least average at all of them and Bradley is a minus defender in RF. I think DeRosa had a better year (he also put up those numbers with a wrist that will need surgery in the offseason).
  19. Why does it matter? No sense throwing Lilly out there and taking a chance of something bad happening. Let the kids play the rest of the year It seems as though they are auditioning guys for the 5th rotation spot to see if its worth re signing Harden in the off season. While Harden is beter than Marshall, Gorzolanny, and certainly Shark, is he really worth the 10-11 mil hed probably end up getting? Yes. Especially if it's a one year deal. And even more especially when you consider the fact that you don't have to give up those guys in order to keep Harden. It's not an either or situation. It's Harden + plus those backup options, or just a bunch of backup options. But that really doesn't get us more lefthanded, ;)
  20. DeRosa has been better than Bradley this year. Peavy's injury was a freak thing, he hurt his ankle/foot running the bases. He might never suffer that injury if he's on the Cubs to start the year.
  21. Let me be the first to call BS on this one. I don't deny that racism still exists, but I can't possibly imagine a racial slur against a 3-year old kid. I doubt the type of people yelling out racial slurs are going to know what Bradley's [expletive] kid looks like. Where did he have his kid sitting anyways? The bleachers?
  22. Ive always like Michael Young, but did not realise that he was on that kind of contract. Yeah, I have always liked him to. I don't think he is on great standing with the Rangers either. There was the rumors last year they wanted to trade him last year and he also put up a fuss in ST when they wanted to move him to 3B to make room for Andrus. I brought him up primarily because of contract and the only way we get a decent player for Bradley is if they have an excessive contract and Young is one of those guys. He is probably a $9-12 mil. a year guy, not $16. edit: Just searching MLBTR he apparently requested a trade in Dec./Jan after the Rangers told him they had plans to move him to 3B, now obviously he has lasted the whole season and not much has been said. But you have to wonder if the Rangers/Young will be looking for trades/to get traded this offseason.
