Gomes or Nady are probably the best options for straight up platoon roles, but I think Dye is our best option to have around if one of the starting OF (Kosuke, Soriano, Byrd) goes down for an extended period of time and we need the 4th OF (Dye) to be starting nearly everyday against LH or RH pitching. -

He also wanting a 4-5 year deal last offseason, coming off of wrist surgery. Now he was pretty much completely healthy this last year so he could still be asking for a 3-4 year deal as well.

Nah, it comes down to that 12th man in the huddle. If not for that, it was an automatic run call for the next play and Longwell probably would have come through. Bingo

Forward progress stops when he gets pushed back though. I think the fumble will screw him though. So would it be he got it, then fumbled, recovered, but after he recovered he was short of the line?

Vikings helmet almost hit that ball out, I don't see how there is enough evidence to reverse the call on the field here (regardless what the original call was).

Agreed the Saints haven't played all that well this game, part of it though could be the short drives not allowing the offense to be able to open up a bit and use the whole field to get into a flow.
