  1. Aww don't worry about neifi, he wouldn't be sitting for Walker without the DH
  2. "We have poor fundamentals because so many of our players are from other teams" But I'm not absolutely sure if it was Dusty who said that
  3. They appealed it, hoping it would get reduced and that they could keep Barrett's bat in the lineup until DLee would return. I think it is an abomination that MLB allows things to be dragged out for so long, but it was a smart move on the Cubs part. All except the part about not just dropping the suspension and letting him start serving it when they knew he'd be out for a few days...thad was, as per usual, a dumb move. Odds it would have been lowered more than the 3 games barrett just sat out: low. surprised that they didn't lower the length, though, it seems like they give suspensions intending to reduce the time later.
  4. I lost count on the bounces his ball had 3 or 4 days ago from short right to home. It didn't even make the dirt on the fly. I was surprised it rolled that far
  5. So does rusch get enough starts to exceed a 9 ERA?
  6. He's not fat, he's having Hendry's baby.
  7. I love dusty baker and his consistent use of the worst possible move. I know, instead of starting Guzman, let's stick him in in the second inning after Rusch predictably implodes. that way we get the crappiness of Rusch plus the joy of using a starter as a reliever!
  8. so pierre womack nevin jaque neifi (because aramis just has to get injured) Bynum Cedeno Blanco (when barrett is suspended) On the list of "worst lineups ever" where would this rank?
  9. Dusty actually said that? I'm impressed
  10. Yes, especially since the new Mets stadium will have a warning moat
  11. There is no chance Pierre would accept arbitration. There is still a team stupid enough to give him a multiyear deal out there. have you seen his numbers? Hendry is far from being the only stupid GM out there. It's not like Neifi Perez magically didn't exist until the Cubs inexplicably fell in love with him. I swear they just pull up at the bus depot sometimes and sign whoever they lure into the car with a sandwich. Playing neifi gets stupider as the years pass. But your point stands.
  12. what about them?
  13. It's stupid because it's misleading. For example, if the league average for home runs by a first baseman is 30, and one guy has 29 and the other 31, technically one guy is a below average home run hitter and the other is an above average home run hitter. That statement may be true, but it's a waste of time to phrase things that way unless you are trying to make people think one is much better than the other when in fact they are basically the same. So because at Grudz's near best he's not as good as an average walker(I mean average for Walker, not Walker is average), you say they're essentially the same?
  14. I've been paying the other team to throw the game
  15. Cubs management thinks their problem is clutch hitting. If the yankees have soured on arod, it's because they think he doesn't hit in the clutch. Really hard to see a way for this to happen.
  16. In maddux's ND's and losses last year the cubs scored: 4,5,4,3,5,4,1,1 (he gave up 9 runs in 15.2 innings over these 2 games), 5,6,1(he gave up 5 runs in 6 innings),0 (his first really good showing in a nd/loss, and it's the all star break),6,2(his second good one),6,0(his third),7,1(great game),2,1,3 the cubs averaged just over 3 runs per game when maddux got a ND. 6 times last season the cubs scored 2 or fewer in a zambrano ND. Prior had 5 such outtings with 77% as many starts. Rusch had at least 3 in half as many starts. edit: I just realized I may have counted the runs the opposing team scored in ND's the cubs won, instead of runs the cubs scored. Instead of correcting it, Im going to sleep.
  17. too bad those weren't strikes for z last inning.
  18. oh well, that'll happen when you've got a 6" wide strike zone
  19. Most guys with ERA's over 4 don't get to 14 wins. Maddux is not on a pace for a low 4 ERA. Maddux is on a trend of increasing ERA's. 3 good reasons not to expect that. edit: the cubs offense sucks and will likely continue to suck for some time. add that to the list
  20. Leroy Jenkins is from a World of Warcraft video. A bunch of guys carefully planning a dungeon raid, going so far as to calculate odds of success, and finally one of the guys jumps up, and shouts "OK! Let's do this! LEEERRROYYYYY JENNNNKINSSS!"...runs into the room and ticks off a room full of dragon whelps, leading to a hilarious scene of guys trying to be in control, but just panicking and failing miserably. If you don't play the game, it still might be funny, but probably not in the same way. It was a pretty big thing for a while though...probably last summer if I remember right? [geek]Totally staged, though. the person who was recording it was fooling around at least as much, if I recall, and their plan was far too stupid to be real. Now "-50 dkp" guy is real[/geek] I don't think you can "[/geek]" after a post like that. I can fake it.

  22. Why should he be a 14 win pitcher with an ERA in the low 4's? Why, for that matter, would you think that any pitcher with an ERA in the low 4's would get 14 wins for this team? He can't even perform that well now, so why do you expect him to be better when 2 years older? I don't understand the thinking behind anything you wrote here, I guess Maddux's ERA's the past 5 years (including 06) 2.62 3.96 4.02 4.24 4.77
  23. Was strike 3 to murton as far out of the zone as gamecast says?
