  1. He was safe Yea, saw it in real time didn't know how it was possible... how umps can see things like that but still fail to call a consistent strike zone is beyond me. They do call a consistent strike zone. The TV camera angle skews everything for the fans. The camera angle can distort our perceptions as to what's high, low, inside, outside, but it has no effect whatsoever on our ability to tell if an umpire is calling a zone consistently. They don't move the camera mount batter to batter, inning to inning, game to game, or even, usually, season to season
  2. The OP might want to read posts like this that show that his frustration is wildly misplaced. Fukudome has a .360 OBP in the last week. Yeah. he doesn't have an .800 ops for May (.779), but his .417 OBP is #9 in MLB and his May OBP is #19 in MLB. He's still getting a fair amount of walks but it's been a while since he really drove a ball. When I say Kouske in the beginning of the season, he had totally abandoned the fukucopter and looked like a totally different player. Driving the ball all over the park, hanging in there much better. However, lately I've been seeing the old approach and the results are declining. He got on base at a decent clip last year, too, and everybody still wanted his head by September. If he keeps it up, his numbers are going to continue to decline. This I am sure of. If your .420 OBP CF is among your chief worries, you've got a very good baseball team.
  3. So in the 7th inning down two runs with two men on and a righty pitcher in and the Cubs best hitter this season on the bench, Lou used a pitcher to pinch hit. Nice. Time for the Ultra-Cobs

  5. That play at home was a thing of beauty.
  6. How can so many consecutive game threads be board-meltdowns?
  7. Len just said that the cubs are in grand slam range (not in those exact words)
  8. Ok, the fake rallies are getting ridiculous in this stretch
  9. Not even the warning track at Petco at night :(
  10. In late May Zambrano and Harden have ERAs of 4.64 and 4.74.
  11. I think we were at least scoring. This is awful. At the moment I'd have to say that having your team score no runs day in and day out is worse than your pitching getting consistently destroyed, but I'm also almost certainly biased by the moment.
  12. So is hitting the ball hard right at the defense. If there were people who had the ability to hit balls hard right at people consistently and they were the people playing for the Cubs, yes. Neither one of these seems to be true, however. You missed the inning with three straight liners to deep CF of which only the last resulted in a hit when the Cards collided? I'd call those hard hit balls. Oh, so you're claiming that the Cubs intentionally hit those balls to places they knew could be caught.

  14. Hey, that makes him one out of two on scouting reports, and that ain't bad Wasn't a Cub he got right was it? [i meant he's aware of one out of two scouting reports on a single player. Just not the current one]
