  1. New format awesome. Wish Rizzo didn't have to go first. Camera work SUCKS!
  2. Makes his 396 from last year look pretty pedestrian. He also hasn't given up a home run either of the last two years, 109 innings worth. He broke Kelvin Herrera's Royals franchise homerless innings streak which was active up until May 5 of this season. So, the two longest homerless streaks in franchise history were running concurrently and coming from the 7th and 8th inning guys.
  3. The entire AL is projected to win between 77-88 games. There are only 5 NL teams that fall within that range. 3 of those are on the fringes (77, 78 and 87). http://www.fangraphs.com/coolstandings.aspx
  4. Question? Do most fans feel like their team outplays their opponents and loses all the time, or does it actually happen to us more often? Do we easily forget when we win games we were outplayed? Also: why do umpires suck?
  5. I've been a Cubs/Packers fan in Missouri my whole life (third generation - dad and grandfather both lived in Wisconsin and Illinois at different points in their lives). First I lived in the St Louis area. Now KC. And before too long I will probably be living in Milwaukee. I say this with all sincerity, my situation being a Cubs fan in the St Louis area makes me appreciate the Packers success a lot more than if I didn't have those experiences. I also do not rub it in with family/friends that are Bears fans. I'm really curious how I am going to feel after living in Milwaukee for awhile. But for the poll - I fantasize about the Cardinals sucking at the same time St Louis takes an economic downturn and it eventually leads to the Cardinals getting moved. Then I'll go to the day where they blow up Busch Stadium and pee on the ashes. I'll take a picture of it and tag every Cardinals fan I know on Facebook. If the Bears win a Super Bowl I'll call my roommate from college and congratulate him and be genuinely happy for him.
  6. But on a positive note: the offense might be back. Don't think it's a coincidence that Soler is also back.
  7. I like the people who who think it's ridiculous to be angry after losses like this because "we're still in a good position." Yeah, and I'll take it, but tha fact that a win in the Friday game at Busch and a win last night would put the Cubs only 4.5 back of the Cardinals, 2 back of the Pirates and 5 up on the Mets still really sucks in terms of playoff chances. So, yeah, I'm happy where we're at, but I can still be pissed at how much those two pitches have affected our positioning. Yeah, yeah I know you could say something about if Russell's ball is foul we're 10.5 back, etc., etc.
  8. 2 Strop pitches are probably worth a 4-game swing in the standings, so that's great.
  9. Had a free ticket to the Royals game tonight. Watched the Cubs score 3 on my phone as the Royals scored 4 to take the leads they would not relinquish to complete the doubleheader sweeps. What a difference a day makes!
  10. Every game against them I think it can't get any worse. Why do I think it can't get any worse?
  11. 2 hard hit balls and only send 3 batters to the plate. The Cardinals are so unlucky.
  12. What if the wild card game is against the Cardinals?
  13. The number of times in which the Cubs have been clearly outplayed by the opponent yet still won is a much smaller percentage than the number of times the Cubs have lost to the Cardinals because they bunched all of their base runners into 1 or 2 innings while the Cubs continued to leave RISP.
  14. I'm ok if 45 years from now my grandkids are complaining about hearing Lester whine about his perfect game being blown by the ump not calling strike 3 against Carpenter and having to settle for no-hitter.
  15. yeah I'm at a hotel and seriously considering MLB.tv on the laptop. Maybe if Lester never gives up another runner it will be okay. i normally like the fancier national broadcast and hearing what outsiders have to say, but with this annoying ass narrative i'm almost dreading playoff broadcasts Playoff broadcasts are the wooooorstttttttt! between the national guys saying stuff and my gut twisting with every pitch, they're kind of miserable and i don't know why we want them so bad Haha. Yep

  17. Pirates playoff odds just went down to 29% and their ROSW% dropped to .430. That's a mistake right? McCutchen didn't just cut his hand off or something that I'm not aware of?
  18. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PFG2rUDKc9U&t=108m9s http://garygaetti.com/
  19. The Giants season will likely be defined by what they do in August. Their opponents: Rangers Braves Cubs Astros Nationals Cardinals Pirates Cubs Cardinals Dodgers
  20. I watched this earlier today as well. Looking at the playoff odds I got a little excited and spent a good chunk of the day on YouTube.
  21. I didn't even get to see the clincher because if you were outside Chicago there was not way to watch it (because FOX Saturday rules suuuuuuuucked). Listened to a staticky WGN because of storms between us and Chicago in the pouring rain in my parent's driveway with my brother.
