    I think Yankees in 7. I was leaning Phillies in 6 or 7, but I think the difference between Rivera and Lidge could be the deciding factor. Hopefully the good Lidge shows up for this series and the Phillies take it in 6. I think there's a good chance he's bad and the Yanks win in 7 because of it.

    They didn't want to throw him strikes because he was such a dominant hitter... at hitting the ball out of the park. He was a great slugger, but no one ever called him a great hitter. So good hitters are only guys with high batting averages? That's lunacy. No, of course not. But we're talking about whether a slugger is the best candidate for a hitting coach. I'd love Adam Dunn to be on my team, but I wouldn't want him as my hitting instructor. Not that being a great hitter means you're going to be a great hitting coach either. I'm not saying that he will be a good hitting coach. However, I am curious to how he will do because he did have a good hitting approach for his abilities. Can he teach a light-hitting middle infielder how to get on base? I don't know. Hopefully not. I assure you I will be the first person to make 'roid jokes next season.

    I thought McGwire had a pretty good hitting approach. He took a lot of called strike threes because he was a mistake hitter. He knew he was a mistake hitter so he didn't swing at many pitchers' pitches, even with two strikes. Sure he struck out looking a lot, but at least he knew what he could and couldn't do.

    Hard to blow a game for you when your undefeated. i was talking about when they brought a touchdown back and then the steelers took the next play back for a touchdown, that's a 14 point swing You can't claim a 14-point swing right now. Likely the situation would be very similar and the Vikings would have a 4-point lead, meaning only a 7-point difference.

    I umpire with a minor league umpire in a high school fall league. I consider myself a decent high school umpire and very good youth umpire. However, I don't think it would be a good idea for me to pursue a career in umpiring. I make mistakes. However, there are a few umpires, myself included, that are easily considered better than this minor league umpire. It's no wonder the umpires at the ML level are so bad. I think part of the problem is that there are a lot of good umpires that do not ever pursue the career. Until you make the majors you make a fairly poor salary. Many sharp umpires are not going to be lured away from their careers for a job that promises about $30,000 a year, with crappy travel and almost no chance of making it to the majors. It's easier to remove a supreme court justice than to remove a ML umpire.

    People still think Bradley will be on this team? If the Cubs do not discipline Bradley, no matter what he does, and he refuses to play or doesn't show up for games/practices can they claim a breach of contract and not pay him? Maybe OleMiss could answer this.

    Also of note, Angel Hernandez has not worked a postseason series since 2005, which seems odd because he worked at least one postseason series from 1997 through 2005 except for 1999. He was an injury fill-in for Game 7 of the 2008 ALCS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angel_Hernandez_(umpire)

    I was just pointing out that the logistics behind getting hotel rooms and all the people in the right place at the right time to run the WS are the cause for not changing the dates (according to Keith Law). Not to mention TV. Also, these same logistical reasons are why MLB has not gone to a system where the best record decides home-field advantage in the WS. Potentially they would only have 2 or 3 days to prepare for Game 1 of the WS in up to 3 different cities (1 of the teams will not host no matter who they are playing). Knowing which league will host the WS narrows it down to 2. It seems like a weak answer to me, but that's the reason (according to Keith Law) MLB has given for not changing the date of Game 1 or letting the site of Game 1 be dependent on best record. Me, I think it's just all about money. The networks will pay more to broadcast the games if they get to choose when they are played.
