  1. because arrieta is pitching and montero be framing Then give me Ross. I think it's a comfort level thing with Arrieta. He's more comfortable working with Montero. What Jake wants, Jake gets. http://www.espn.com/blog/chicago/cubs/post/_/id/41609/jake-arrieta-gets-back-on-track-with-miguel-montero-behind-the-plate
  2. Exactly so it's probably best to stick with what's worked so well: supporting elite pitching with elite defense Plus there's some quirks and funky angles at the park. Not as much in left but I trust Heyward much more than anyone else to navigate that right/right centerfield I like the idea of giving Almora a shot in RF and his right handed bat against Madbum but you're probably right. The safest play is Heward in right. Almora would probably be overmatched by Madbum anyway, so it wouldn't make much difference.
  3. Soler has a cannon for an arm, there's no debating that. The problem is getting to the ball and making smart decisions with said ball.
  4. I just don't think Maddon trusts him to play defense in the playoffs, especially in a place like San Fran. Jesse Rogers is saying either Heyward or Almora will be in RF with the other spots staying the same. When I put together my guess at the line up I was thinking Bryant could cover more ground in LF than Zobrist, but I'm cool with everything the same except Almora.
  5. I know Joe's got this and then some but my 2 cents: Line up Fowler CF Bryant LF Rizzo 1B Zobrist 2B Russell SS Baez 3B Montero C Almora RF God-Mode Jake P Late inning defense: Bring in Heyward to RF, Bring in Wiilly to C, Almora to LF, Bryant to 3rd, and Baez to 2B
  6. Post game MLB. I get a kick out of Kevin Millar. He's a funny dude.
  7. Part of me wonders if Maddon put Arrieta 3rd in the rotation because of MadBum. Arrieta seems like the type that would take it personal that MadBum will get the hype from his previous elimination game performances. I think it's been decided for the last month that it was going to be Lester, Kyle, Jake, Lackey. Just worked out that way, which is fine. Jake can handle the pressure on the road better than Kyle I think.
  8. i wish this were written in green font Just sayin'. That's typical of teams that feel someone is showing them up. Don't get me wrong, I love it, but I understand where the Giants are coming from.
  9. Love me some Javy but he might have deserved that insider. He's been pimpin' pretty hard this series.
  10. I guess you go Chapman in the ninth and ride him like a rented mule?
  11. Nice job Hector! That's huge for his confidence and Joe's confidence in him.
  12. We got good Travis. Good Montgomery. Now we need good Hector.
  13. Get in here I know there's no chance but WHAT IF?????? Theo has said time and time again it's not gonna happen. It 99% ain't happing unless they've been underestimating his rehab or playing coy to pump up the fans and team if he does come back. Bottom line, give me a 50% Schwarbs over Seal boy any day, They basically would perform the same function, a left handed bat off the bench. Seal boy ain't coming in for defense. If he's feeling really frisky Schwarbs could DH in the WS. Could you imagine the crowd at Wrigley if he came up to pinch hit in the NLCS? Holy horsefeathers. This is just fantasy for the coming weeks, we still got to get two more big wins against a tough SF ball club.
  14. Benny and the Jets was playing for his last AB. I know I heard his wife's song earlier in the night yikes i didn't even see this post when i made mine and i agree that it was odd that almora didn't come into the OF in the 9th I know it doesn't make much sense but maybe Joe was thinking that leaving Zorbrist in LF just in case the Giants tied it up or took the lead (gasp) in the 9th. Ben was due up 4th in the bottom half? Maybe wanted his bat just in case over Almora? Still Almora being out there is supposed to prevent the Giants from tying it up so while typing this it makes even less sense. I doubt Almora makes that play on Pousy's shot but he might have with his speed and it would have been a spectacular play.
  15. I'm 99% sure that's it and would be my guess. Only other variations I could see would be Javy at 2B and Zobrist in LF or 1 of Coghlan/Soler in LF and Bryant at 3B with Javy coming in late for defense/pinch running and staying in the game. Yep, that's a winner. Having Javy at 3rd comforts me on so many levels. Love to get Soler's bat in the line up to see if he can replicate last October, but having Javy down there is huge. I wouldn't mind Zorbrist in LF, Bryant 3B, and Javy 2B. Basically, get Javy out there.
  16. I'd still be very surprised if Montero doesn't catch Arrieta. I know it sounds strange but I wonder if Maddon would ask Jake whom he wants? Behind closed doors of course. My bet is Jake would want Miggy.
  17. Maybe this will force Maddon to keep Almora instead of quitter Seal boy. Doubtful, but maybe.
