  1. Remember how hot Zo got last May was it? This reminds me of that. Small sample size I know (just the two WS games), but it seemed like every time he came up during that stretch in May he got a hit or made solid contact. Keep it up creepy guy!
  2. It would be awesome if he were to go into God-mode for a few innings. Not even close to his best stuff and he has a no hitter.
  3. Eh, he's been helped more than squeezed. Probably. But there were a couple on the black that were real close.
  4. Beautiful sequence by Jake there. Keep that horsefeathers up.
  5. I'm sure Joe is thinking about it. Might be another couple of innings until Soler sees another at bat. He did get some good cuts in there though, so Joe will probably leave him in for another at bat.
  6. This may be the last opportunity to do some damage against Bauer. Bullpen up.
  7. For a while I thought it was nibbling, but the longer it has gone on, it has become obvious it's a control problem. He pretty much admitted as much himself. Yeah, he said a few weeks ago he lost the control of his cutter and has had to rely on his fastball more often.
  8. Wanted 7. Take 6. Looking like 5. Santana struck out looking. That was the best pitch he's thrown all night.
  9. Weather aside, this line up should do some damage. Man, I wish it were sunny and 82 with the wind blowing out at Wrigley.
  10. He'd probably flash that million dollar smile and say, "Yeah, I'm a big fan of SImpsons, thay almost funny as me."
  11. I'll settle for "good"-mode Jake as in 2-3 runs/7 IP. I think our offense shows up tonight to the tune of 5-7 runs, with Strop and Chappie closing things out.
  12. The boys had numerous chances with runners in scoring position and just didn't come through. Kubler was great but he escaped a few RISP situations as well and one more biscut for breakfast and Schwarber makes it a 2-1 game. MIller pulled a Houdini in the 7th. We are used to seeing the boys come through in those situations, so it was disappointing to say the least. I'm sure Indian fans were freaking out in the 7th and next time a situation comes up like that, I doubt they get as fortunate. Bottom line, we had our chances and didn't capitalize. Keep doing what they are doing and the hits will come, we've seen it hundreds of times this year. The split on the road is still very much in play.
  13. Joe said that they wouldnt rule out using him in the field at Wrigley. I don't think its a great idea, but he seems to have exceeded all previous expectations so why the hell not? Jesse Rogers ‏@ESPNChiCubs 10h10 hours ago Re last retweet Maddon said he kind of misspoke pregame, Schwarber hasn't been cleared to play the field by doctors... Jesse Rogers ‏@ESPNChiCubs 10h10 hours ago Maddon: "I will have nothing to say with that. That will be called from the medical staff."
  14. There's no valid reason to direct any vitriol at a player simply for underperformance. Especially a hard working, A+ personality like Jason Heyward. It's preposterously childish, meatball behavior. Almost as meatbally as saying that a hard-working, A+ personality player should be exempt from all performance-related criticisms. No but seriously, all I [expletive] wanted to know was why he's treated differently than the other two. You guys seemingly equated me saying that he should be held accountable with the idea that I hate this player on and off the field. Way to take one thing I said and blow it completely out of proportion. I tried to say my peace and move on, but it wasn't allowed. Reading comprehension, folks. Nothing to see here folks, move along....We've got the FIRST Cubs WS game in over 70 years in about an hour and a half. Can we please get back to the game?
  15. I don't know why but I'm much more relaxed for this game than either of the Giants/Dodgers openers. Pete Rose said the other night that the real pressure is getting to the WS, once you're there it's just fun. He played in 6 of them so if anybody knows I guess it would be him.
  16. I hope you're right about Contreras in LF and Zo in RF. The JHey show should be regulated to PH'ing, Pinch Running, and late defensive replacment. My heart tells me Joe goes with WIlly, my head tells me he won't and sends JHey back out there.
  17. Schwarber batting 2nd? Not doubting the source, but I don't think Joe has even decided yet. I would think they would want to go R/L all the way down the line up? Either way, it's sexy. Dex CF Bryant 3B Riz 1B Zo LF Javy 2B Schwarbs DH Addy SS JHey RF Rossy C or they could go extra sexy and play Willy instead of JHey Dex CF Bryant 3B Riz 1B Zo RF Javy 2B Schwarbs DH Willy LF Addy SS Rossy C
