  1. Guess what team won't capitalize on the error?
  2. Chip also just let us know we have 6 people on the roster that can play 2B. Thanks Chipper.
  3. If that was a Cubs pitcher he'd go on the DL for 3 months.
  4. We should extend him for 5 years now!
  5. Didn't Dusty move him to the 2 hole for a game or two?
  6. Gee, warm up the bus back to Iowa.
  7. It's going to be really hard for our lineup to keep up with the Braves today. At least Ryu hasn't been walking anyone in front of the homers.
  8. Neifi up with the bases cloggerd. Gee I wonder how this will turn out?
  9. He will be this year’s savior and get a two year 5 mill deal in the offseason Welcome to the board JIm.
  10. Amazing, the good part with Womack starting meant that Neifi would be on the bench but noooooo...Dusty moved him to SS and benched Cedeno. Yeah, I know Smoltz is a RHP. I don't care.
  11. I can't imagine anyone thinking Murton and Cedeno would offensive stars as first year full time players. This year they were designed to be a complement to the offense and not main cogs in the offense. The loss of Lee, the disappointing showing by Pierre and the disappearance of Aram and Walker since Lee went down have magnified the fall off in production from Cedeno and Murton. The Cubs made a committment the these two and now isn't the time to kick them to the curb. See how it plays out for the year and then re-evaluate them. Problem is we have idiots doing the evaluating.
  12. Sorry for the off topic post; But wow, did dusty actually say that? http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=2669 Read number 2 on the list.
  13. I wished I would have seen the interview. Unfortunately the Cards/Padres were shown here. A lot of what you say is true however, I fully believe Dusty had a lot of input into the roster and Hendry basically gave him what he asked for. Everyone should be gone by the end of the year. But they won't becuase I doubt if the Tribune can see past the cash flowing in from the cash cow.
  14. "He rallied the team to 73 wins from a poor start" "Imagine if the Cardinals lost Pujols, Mulder, and Carpenter? Dusty's done an unbelievable job with this team-they never lost faith, stayed together throughout the rough stretch and rallied to 73 victories. This gives us a lot to look forward to next year, when we'll have Woody for a whole year, Prior will be back from his surgery after week three, and Derrek will be here for the full year. For that, Dusty has done nothing short of an amazing job and I'm proud to announce his three year, $15 million deal." Except I don't believe Wood will be back. Prior might be back by week 3 in June if we're lucky, and as good as Lee is, surrounded by the likes of Neifi, Jones, Hairston and Pierre it doesn't look promising. I would be incredibly surprised if any of those 3 are on the roster next year. Any other organization and I would agree.
  15. It was a quality play by little leaguers though. Had it been the Cubs with the bases loaded and two out in the 9th with a 3 run lead, Dempster would have thrown strike 3, a passed ball by Barrett, he would retrieve the ball, throw it into CF, Piere would over run it, go back and retrieve it, noodle arm it to Neifi, who would drop it, then pick it up and throw it into the stands allowing all four runs to score, the fourth of which Barrett would slug as he crossed home plate. Fact or fiction?

  17. Looks out to me. I don't think he ever touched the plate.
  18. The only way Hendry will make a splash is if he falls into the hotel pool.
  19. Yeah, I have to agree. When Hendry said he was going to give Dusty every chance to turn this thing around I believe he was talking about through the 2008 season.
  20. In a just world Neifi would be DFA'd. That would leave us with a bench of Hairston, Mabry, Bynum, Blanco. A 4-man bench. Even Hendry isn't that stupid. Fine...then DFA Rusch too and bring up someone from A ball for the bench. Whoever it is would be a step up from Neifi, Hairston, Mabry, and Blanco. As someone else mentioned we have Womack too...he's hitting 1.000 for us this year. Neifi, Womack, and Hairston are the same person. Has anyone ever seem them together all at once? Why have 3 of them on the team?
  21. In a just world Neifi would be DFA'd.
