  1. DLEE pops up on a 3-0 count. Clines been tutoring him lately?
  2. I'm ok with that. Then keep Walker.
  3. WOW...Glendon "buzzsaw" Rusch is mowing them down.
  4. Not to worry. You will wake up soon.
  5. Oh my GOD! Two walks have scored today for the Cubs and now a suicide squeeze that is successful! :D
  6. If I were Wood I think I'd be asking why that test wasn't done at the very beginning of the problem last year. With all the tests they've done on him how could this get by for so long?
  7. Okay...Rusch has a lead to work with.
  8. DLee has been leaving a lot of ducks on the pond the last few days.
  9. I say the Cubs have a shot to win if they score at least 15 runs. No guarantees though.
  10. I'm hoping Prior just called in injured to help in the "get rid of Dusty" campaign. :D
  11. His outing killed my fantasy pitching stats this week too! Not even the wins by Marmol and Weaver could overcome it.
  12. Like a good train wreck I now have to watch just to see the carnage.
  13. I wonder who will pitch the 2nd through the 7th innings?
  14. Dusty is a joke. He is a joke, but what other pitcher could he have spot started other than Rusch? He could have pullled a little old lady from the crowd and gotten as good as odds on a win.
  15. So you start Rusch? I'd rather see Neifi pitch than Rusch!
  16. With Hendry doing everything he could to trade Walker you would think it might have occurred to him to play Nomar at 2B and Cedeno at SS. Even if he couldn't trade Walker it would have been a pretty good luxury to have Walker coming off the bench. Then when Lee got hurt Nomar could have moved to first with Walker playing 2B. That would have been much more attractive then the Neifi, Hairston, and eventually Nevin 3 headed monster. Also I would not have minded having Nomar in the outfield. Like you said, his throwing couldn't be any worse than Pierre and Jones hitting 9 irons to the infield. And as bad as this team is we could have used Nomars bat and it would not be difficult to find a spot for him to play when Lee came back. Of course when he went on the DL at the beginning of the season there would have been a lot of "I told you so" flying around. Hindsight is always 20/20 I suppose.
  17. I'm guessing that message was sent more to Hendry than the media. He just used the media to deliver it to Hendry. So now what does Hendry do? Go crawling to Dusty with an extension so he'll play the kids? Or stand up, show some backbone and fire his sorry behind? He is right on one account though. There isn't room for them until Hendry trades some of the deadwood on the team. And how is he considering Ohman and Novoa as kids. They've both been here going on two full years now.
  18. I agree. I know he's made a lot of money but he is still a competitor and wants to be out there pitching. IMO the Cubs and Kerry will reach a middle ground and he'll be signed for next year. But before that...he should pitch from the pen until the Cubs are mathmatically out of contention. Sounds like what a lot of people thought about Nomar last year and Hendry kicked him to the curb like a cheap prostitute.
  19. I'm skeptical he even knows what "On-Base Percentage" means. Baker looks toward second half
  20. Novoa had a pretty good outing. I think he has more upside than Lightenberg.
  21. Florida Marlins team OBP: .333 Chicago Cubs team OBP: .314 I'm not a big fan of Girardi either way, but I mean, he's young for a manager, he knows the game, and he seems to be a guy who has some fire and is able to get the best out of his players. First: the stats in the original posts aren't necessarily indicative of a good manager. Second: (and maybe this is what you meant, obp is pretty interesting. Girardi has coaxed a similar/better hitting team out of less talent. And a lot less experienced hitters.
