    I wouldn't be at all surprised if they shaved 20-30M off last years payroll. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same. The only scenario that would surprise is if they actually exceeded the first tier, on purpose anyway.

    This. It's not a good look dumping all these contracts early on. It still way too early to have a real opinion on it, but I'm usually pretty pessimistic when it comes to Hoyer.

    Trade deadline day, will the Bears get a pass rusher? I think I'd rather them not heavily invest in this year's team, but it would be exciting I suppose.

    One 1 or 2 year deals or longer ones with opt outs, I 100% do not see them throwing a 5+ year deal without opt outs prior to the lock out

    Shota also had a season and a half of performance history. With that said, if his velocity being down has nothing to do with injury/mechanics then it's more justifiable.

    Genuinely surprised the White Sox picked up Robert's option, not because I think they shouldn't have, but more I truly believed cheap ass Reinsdorf wouldn't pay it.

    What is more relevant for what we should expect, The most recent 4 months of data or the months 5 and 6 where a lot of the heavy lifting was done by a guy who is no longer on the team?

    This is like saying a pitcher who went 6IP 4ER is fantastic because he did enough to get his team the win. No, it was a bad start and the pitcher got bailed out by the offense.

    I mean excluding the first two months where PCA and Tucker were both playing like MVPs, the Cubs scored the 17th most runs the rest of the year. That sounds pretty mediocre to me.

    I think you're kidding yourself if you expect them to give out multiple large contracts. Ricketts has made it pretty clear he's not going to spend huge going into what is almost definitely going to be a lockout next year. Also, frankly I don't want them to give a huge haul in a trade until I see them make some moves in FA because right now it's not going to be easy to even get them to the level they were last year and I don't want them throwing assets at mediocrity.

    You will not have Tucker's bat and going into 2026 assuming you're going to get anything resembling PCA's 2025 numbers is horrible assumption as well. It's also incredibly unlikely you get the same production out of catcher. They're going to need substantial upgrades just to get their offense up to par with last year and it wasn't a very good offense to begin with.

    That money needed to go to the offense and bench. Now they need to spend the majority of their budget just trying to get back to the mediocre team they were 2/3 of the season.

    I'm going on record, letting Shota go to FA is incredibly moronic for a team that already needed 1 impact pitcher.

    I have no idea why McCarthy is getting so much fanfare for a mediocre to bad game.

    Cam Ward is looking like a legit disaster pick. He isn't even flashing potential. He's 9 games into his rookie season and he's sitting on 5 TD and 6 INT. Bear fans were panicking with Caleb at 20 TD and 6 INT.

    The Bears have now scored 215 points which puts them tied at 7th. 4 of the teams ahead of them have played 1 more game than the Bears. The Bills will likely pass the Bears after their game finishes. There's a very real chance the Bears finish this week top 5 or 6 in PPG.

    I started Odunze who somehow had 0 yards in a game with almost 600 yards.

    God damn, the Bears had almost 600 yards on offense today. That's go to be damn near the record.
