  1. I wonder what it would take to get Montez Sweat who is reportedly available during the draft?
  2. You take the gamble because if he's healthy this year, he's going to get a huge deal next year. It's a chance to add an elite talent.
  3. For 2024
  4. It's going to take a trade and a fairly high pick, like a 3rd to get him. He was the #2 overall pick in 2020, He was the defensive rookie of the year and a probowler. The last two years he has been plagued with injuries, but talent wise he'd be going #1 in the current draft. edit: He's also still only 24
  5. Maybe don't walk the guy with the sub .200 batting average next time
  6. Chase Young's 2024 option was declined by the Redskins. That's a guy I'd love Chicago to take a gamble on.
  7. I think that's a lot to ask to get 3 to 4 day 1 starters on the lines if they aren't using their 1st round pick on one. With that said, it sure would make the offense exciting.
  8. Damn, look at all those swinging strikes. That's kind of nuts actually for 77 pitches.
  9. I wouldn't be thrilled, but I wouldn't go full blown freak out depending on the rest of the draft. They'd have to kill the rest of the draft and probably move up at least once to keep it from being disappointing.
  10. Unfortunately I think GB moving up 2 slots from the trade means you can't trade back past 12 now and hope to get JSN. At that point it's probably better just to pop him at 9 if he's your guy.
  11. I don't have numbers to support this, but it feels like the Cubs have always absolutely torched Wacha no matter the team he was with. Hopefully we get more of the same.
  12. Breath of relief on that, whenever it's a shoulder I'm just assuming it's a year+ if at all ever coming back.
  13. I lean this way as well, especially if PJJ is gone. I don't think there's that much difference between Skoronski, Broderick Jones or Darnell Wright and I'd feel safe one of them would be there at 15-17.
  14. If PJJ really goes #3 like the rumors say, then I think I'm on the Devon Witherspoon train for #9. I don't really want Skoronski there and I'd rather they trade back if taking an OT.
  15. Yes, I'm sure all the FAs are going to say, well the Cubs are offering me the most money but they were mean to a guy who has been terrible at baseball for 5 years straight so I guess I'll go elsewhere.
  16. Probably not realistic, but if he's doing this through the end of May, I'd kind of like the Cubs take take a chance and throw a 3 or 4 year extension at him.
  17. He also seems to get squared up on almost everything in the zone. He's already almost half way to his entire season's barrel total in 2022, allowing a ridiculous 12.5%. That's like facing Freddie Freeman every at bat.
  18. The more I think about it, the more I'd really like to trade down and grab a pick in the 35-45 range even if it comes at the cost of grabbing a truly top tier prospect. I'm still not selling #9 cheap or even for "fair" value, but I don't think it would take robbery for me to be ok with them moving down now. They need at least 3 day 1 starters from this draft on the DL/OL and that's probably the most realistic way to get it done.
  19. Fulmer had better see nothing but mop up duty for a long time
  20. Not at all sold on Fulmer. A closer should not give up this much hard contact.
