  1. I mean, they don't even throw at the batter that often anymore, or slide outside the basepath to intentionally take people out or plow a catcher who isn't looking in their direction. Complete wuss ball am I right?
  2. I've seen at least 1 article that had 3 Illini going in the draft next year. Riley, Boswell and Jakucionis
  3. I'm not even a fan at 4 or 5.
  4. They'll probably sign a pretty big name in FA, but it's not going to be Soto or Burnes. My guess is the Cubs do something I hate and sign Alonso. They've had reported interest now for the last 2 years and I completely expect his inevitable 5 or 6 year deal to age like milk.
  5. Imagine that, getting yelled at doesn't make people more productive. I wonder how many of the people in support of the yelling would be more productive at their own job if the boss decided to lay into them in front of everyone.
  6. Mayo and Kjerstad is probably your best case scenario and even that might be wishful thinking. It would probably be something more like Mayo+Norby+like 3 other less and/or further away pieces.
  7. Is this going to be another coach needs to be a red ass in order to be a good coach thing? You can still be an effective coach without screaming at people like a lunatic.
  8. Did Hector slip this ump $20 before the game?
  9. It's baffling right? Our bullpen is filled with guys who nibble on the edges. Neris seems entirely incapable of beating people in the zone now.
  10. I started to get worried Neris wasn't going to walk anyone.
  11. Sorry guys, I'm going to turn the game on
  12. Now that the Cubs are 11.5 out of division and 5 games out of the WC. Are we all to the point where everyone has accepted the team's fate this year? No more desperate souls praying for .600 ball from here on out?
  13. I don't really have all that much interest in what the Yankees have to offer. The guys that are in the value range for Bellinger are guys who are all super far away. Everyone in the 7-11 range is A ball or rookie ball except for Jorbit Vivas who has negative pop. Above that is guys 50+ and there's no way Bellinger is bringing those guys in. Agustin Ramirez is kind of interesting I suppose.
  14. Part of me wants to buy low on Rocker coming off TJS, but I don't think Bellinger could even get that done.
  15. God I wish this team could sell high on Taillon right now. If half the pitching roster wasn't on the IL, it would be possible.
  16. He's a 45+ and Baltimore's #8 prospect. If you think we're getting more than that you're kidding yourself.
  17. At this point I keep coming back to the Orioles and I keep thinking something like Chayce McDermott+lottery ticket
  18. That's what I told myself after the Cubs won the previous SF series.
  19. I didn't mean to imply he did. I was simply saying the Cubs are better are improving stuff than they are at improving command.
  20. Who are you really going to get though? Basallo would be crazy expensive and his defense is not a lot better than Ballesteros. SD needs a catcher almost as bad we do so Salas isn't going anywhere. The Brewers aren't trading us Quero. Austin Wells is already in the bigs. I'd love to get Harry Ford, but the Mariners are going to want bats that can step into their lineup now and who can the Cubs really give them? Bellinger+what?
  21. Unfortunately, with Assad now on the IL as well, I have significant doubts the Cubs move Hendricks even if he keeps tearing it up. There's just not enough healthy arms at the moment. I would definitely like to see Bellinger dealt. I do think it's an excellent chance to sell high on Taillon, but again, very few healthy starters. Once they do decide to be sellers I'd want Brewer dfa'd and maybe Smyly too, but they'd probably keep Smyly as an emergency starter.
  22. Tibbs/Moore are my 2 favorites with Yesavage trailing slightly behind. I'd be quite happy with any of them. Yesavage's weaknesses tend to be ones the Cubs are good at addressing. They've been much better in improving guys with above average command and average to below average stuff than they have been fixing guys with above average stuff and below average command.
