  1. Lead off walk by the pen, which I'm sure will inevitably score.
  2. Lead off double stranded. The same conclusion every day, but with a slightly different twist on how they got there.
  3. I really hope we're not facing a scenario where none of Tibbs, Yesavage or Christian Moore are there for the Cubs. I'd still be ok with Cam Smith, but he doesn't excite me like the others. If Cam was gone too, I guess I just swing for the fences with Honeycutt.
  4. It's actually kind of amazing that Jed is willing just to go down with the ship rather than make any effort to actually improve the team. He just keeps cycling in other team's cast off relievers and the same AAAA washout position players. Then he'll make some comment about how the improvements have to come internally while ignoring the guys in the minors who might actually be able to help the team.
  5. Absolutely anything and everything to avoid making a move with actual substance.
  6. If TSJ slips out of the 1st I expect we'll hear very shortly after that he's suing his accuser and the DA.
  7. Did we think he was going to be this bad? No. Did we think he was going to be what his peripherals suggested he was, a mid 3 ERA reliver? Yup. There's no way he should have gotten the contract he did. You could have had Robertson on a one year deal for nearly the same money.
  8. Cub offense Runs= 331(19th) wOBA= .301(22nd) wRC+= 95(20th) SLG= .367(27th) OBP= .311(15th) BB%= 9.3(4th) K/9= 23.6(23rd) SB= 69(9th) So they're good at taking walks and stealing bases, and that's about it. A climbing K% and no SLG to speak of.
  9. Cub MLB SP ranks ERA= 3.59(8th) FIP= 3.77(9th) xFIP= 3.88(12th) fWAR= 6.6(10th) K/9= 8.66(9th) BB/9= 2.51(8th) So basically it's a top 10 starting staff despite the injuries, despite Kyle completely tanking the first 1/3 of a season. Meanwhile the pen ERA= 4.55(24th) FIP= 4.28(23rd) xFIP= 4.17(21st) fWAR= -.5(27th) K/9= 9.53(4th) BB/9= 4.48(28th) Basically a bottom 5 pen and trending downward The pen since June 1st ERA= 4.35(21st) FIP= 4.74(26th) xFIP= 4.32(23rd) fWAR= -.8(29th) K/9= 9.33(9th) BB/9= 5.47(31st)
  10. I've already started checking out the 2025 draft prospects
  11. Cubs are now 3.5 games out of the WC and 10 games out of the division.
  12. If a season like this doesn't get Hoyer fired, nothing will.
  13. Cubs on the verge of being swept in a series where SF didn't have a regular starter go in any game.
  14. If only the Cubs had a guy in AAA who touches 100 that could go in the pen.
  15. It's legitimately amazing that every single person in the bullpen can be this bad
  16. I wonder if Kyle is a few more good starts from being a desirable piece at the trade deadline. It's amazing that even after going 21.1 IP where he only gives up 3ER and his ERA is still 6.87.
  17. This genuinely might be the single worst game I've ever seen from a hitter
  18. PCA 0-2 again 6 pitches seen, 2 strikeouts
  19. Last five Cub games 12K, 14K, 8K, 13K, 11K and 6K through 3 IP tonight.
  20. I know he just got to AAA, but given the Cubs dire need for offense, if he continues this I wonder if we seem him by the end of July.
  21. I swear to god the entire umpire's union hates Seiya.
  22. Yeah, a 12 fWAR career player is like Howard's 99th percentile outcome at this point. Even reaching a Miles Mastrobuoni career is unlikely for him.
