  1. The perfect excuse for why they couldn't possibly make an offer to a generationally talented hitter in Soto.
  2. McCarthy is out for the year.
  3. He still has an outside shot to hit that 60 fWAR area where HoF discussions happen, but most likely he ends up in the hall of very good. Given the garbage can situation, I think he'd have to have a pretty clear cut case to get voted in.
  4. I'm actually rather disappointed with the season Caissie has had. Yeah he's putting up a 110 wRC+ in AAA in his age 21 season which is nice, but that power stroke he found last year is just gone again.
  5. Though it means little to the Cubs with Paredes now manning 3B, but Bregman has really turned his season around. He's up to a 117 wRC+ and 3.2 fWAR. Since July 1st, 160 PAs, he has posted a .297/.350/.561 line good for a 156 wRC+. If he keeps rolling through the rest of the regular season he is going to get a near 200M contract and he wont take a single AB of that contract before he turns 31.
  6. My guess is that gets adjusted after the guys at BA/FG/ETC. get a chance to set down and talk with scouts at the end of the year for their end of season rankings. At that point I'd expect he'll be in the 13-15 range.
  7. Pretty much in agreement with the people in the top 10, not exactly the same order, but it's the same people people. I have Southisene up higher, Cowles up higher and I also have Lovich in my top 30. They are way higher on Pedro Ramirez then I was, but I'm probably too low even if I still think they're a bit high. I think there's a decent chance Cristian Hernandez slides into the #10 slot if he continues putting up numbers in A+ following his recent promotion. Also, I'm already terrified that Cam Smith has K'd in 7 of his 11 PAs at a level he frankly should be crushing. Extremely small sample size and all that, but it definitely has me nervous.
  8. JJ McCarthy is having knee surgery after a torn meniscus.
  9. I turned the game on 2 pitches before the RBI single. I've now turned it off. You're all welcome.
  10. I'm tempted, but I feel like the last 20M or so of cap space should be potentially used on the OL.
  11. Comparatively
  12. Illinois still supposed to be its perpetually terrible self this year?
  13. We keep the politics in the politics forum. Not every single post has to be about the ills of society. In the baseball/ other sports forums people have the right to want to talk about sports without being constantly bludgeoned with this stuff.
  14. Keenan is slow, but he's also the best route runner in the NFL so he still creates a lot of space. I'm not sure why he'd be surprised by this.
  15. His infatuation with Kmet is weird. His going out of his way, not necessarily in this particular video, to horsefeathers on Moore is equally weird. He also did not seem real impressed with Odunze.
  16. Please make this happen Jed. I don't care if you have to throw a combo like one of Alcantara/Caissie and Triantos. Also, I'm laughing at the clueless people in comments saying it would take 5 top 100 prospects for the Cubs to get O'Hoppe. As far as I know, 4 top 100 guys have never been dealt in the same trade let alone 5.
  17. Probably because he got lots of touches in the HoF game.
  18. I'd rather skip Assad. The guy has made it through the 5th inning twice in his last 8 starts.
  19. I stand by my opinion that anyone moving Alcantara down the lists after this season is ignoring 99% of the good to focus on 7 games of awful. .301/.367/..455 line since then while also putting up a very acceptable 9.0BB% and 23.5K%
  20. I know I shouldn't dwell on it, but man that PCA/Nico confusion loss to STL. They'd be sitting at 60-59 right now and 2.5 games out of the WC.
  21. No worries, I'm sure Roberts is completely fine and it's just both of us being blinded by owner greed and imaginary payroll efficiency or whatever the usual diatribe is.
  22. Well you were wrong in expecting a 50%K rate for the series. It was actually 60%.
