  1. We seem like my Gators, except in the tournament this year, where we get ranked #1 in basketball then go on to lose 2 games the following week. The Cubs move into first and go on the next day to lose it.
  2. How can we not have one person all day hit a stinking average flyball. I got home from class at 3:30 and no one has even flirted with one yet.
  3. Good at-bat by Pagan, too bad he grounded into a DP. Typical of the day.
  4. Barrett obliges with a hit. Pagan up with a runner on first.
  5. Good to hear Santo telling the boys to start hitting.
  6. It's a great idea. I enjoy seeing how well some of our prospects are doing. It's also good to see many of the names on the list are guys that have been labeled our top prospects.
  7. Rumor has it that Tim was heard saying that Jacque will get a hit for every two people that sign up for premium today. He also gave Cardinal fans an oppurtunty by stating any two Cardnial fans can sign up for premium to cancel out one Cub fan membership.
  8. Contributing to get Jacque a hit.
  9. Go Maddux. 1...2...3... in the first.
  10. You should have asked about why we go hacking at first pitches against notably wild pithers on a regular basis? And how anyone with sense on the staff would allow Neifi and Macias to bat one and two in the order and not mention something to Dusty about it?
  11. My first game was in 1989 and the Cubs beat the Expos, iirc the score was 6-4. It was in August and the Cubs were in a tight division race. Of course they went on to the playoofs, but lost to SF, I believe. My most memorable game was in 1998 when Sosa hit 3 homers against Milwaukee in a game and Kerry Wood struck out 15. edit: Wood struck out nine that game 6/15. In 1989, it was a win by Maddux which gave the Cubs the division lead over a hot Expos team, then they never looked back.
  12. I think I may flip-flop Castillo and Pierre in that lineup b/c he gets on base more. Hopefully we have something like that to work with this year.
  13. With all this new discussion, it seems that Burnett has been forgotten. I don't think anyone on here would rather spend the extra $2.5-3m (depening on how the signing bonus is paid) to get him at $9m. I would think his value for a few more bucks would be ten times that of Rusch and Neifi. Ugh! I hate when I keep getting "critical error: could not connect to the database" pages.
  14. Sorry for the typo, how could I make that mistake  .
  15. Overall we may not be too happy so far, but if Hendry makes Pierre-Furcal as 1 and 2 in the order and nabs Abreu, I would have to deem this offseason as successful. However, there is no guarantee on these moves happening.
  16. I have one of myself and George W. I wonder if that will connect me to Cheney and Rove. Then we'll see what I can do with Hendry. Rove has CIA contacts...they remove people from power anonymously...maybe Dusty and Hendry will 'disappear'.
  17. CardsFan the baseball Gods will get revenge on you for your post.
  18. Sorry I went away and missed a lot of the discussion on my post. I didn't intend it to mean that his stuff was nasty just that his stat line as a closer was. It seems we are split on the issue, but I definitely fall in the group that thinks Dempster will hold his own next year.
  19. Per the DHL reliever award article for September, I'd say his numbers were outstanding. 13-13 in saves 0 ER in 16 games 19k/5BB in 15.2 not in Sept. but sick stats: converted last 19 saves 21.1 scoreless innings in a row to close season 33-35 in saves for the season 57 relief appearances with a 1.85 ERA To me that shows he was quite nasty as a closer.
  20. Len is a great broadcaster, but also we should congratulate Brenly for getting this honor. I'm sure it is a great distinction to be picked to do the playoffs.
  21. Is it possible the idea of having that baserunner steal second can cause a negative effect of the hitter behind him. For iinstance, if Furcal is on Giles may be more likely to take a pitch or two to see if Furcal can take second. This can put the hitter in more 0-1 and 0-2 counts, thus lowering his effectiveness. Also, many people say you get one good pitch to hit in an at-bat most times, those pitches seen by Giles to let Furcal steal may have been his pitch to drive.
  22. I knew Dempster had a good year closing, but it seemed we always were holding our breath at the end. The I see his stat line and it is ridiculousy good. I am excited we resigned him and am ready to see what he can do next year.
  23. Time to listen to Z throw, He is my favorite Cub pitcher, so I have to switch. I'll keep following and go Jaxx!
  24. 6-2 Jaxx!!! Craig with a two-run homer!!!!!
  25. Big K for JK. 2 outs, one on.
