  1. Do like me - either watch both at same time or flip between the 2. I think I'll watch the Bears' game on the HDTV (in HD) and have the Cubs game on the backup analog TV.
  2. Since we *might* FINALLY get the right OF alignment since we acquired Lawton tonight, who wants to bet Perez plays in place of Nomar and/or Macias plays in place of ARam? I know you too well Dusty... when you do something right in one place, you totally screw it up by *ing up somewhere else. Either we're gonna get a lineup like this; RF Lawton 2B Walker 1B Lee CF Burnitz 3B Ramirez C Barrett LF Murton SS Nomar P Williams or this; RF Lawton 3B Macias 1B Lee CF Burnitz C Barrett SS Perez 2B Walker LF Murton P Williams
  3. Hearing from where? Sorry, it was on the Score. If you're right and telling the truth, I love you in a manly-man sorta way. If you're not, right or telling the truth, I despise you.
  4. Because of Barrett's defense, or lack thereof. Also, Blanco has come on strong lately with the bat. Barrett's OPS is over .800, which is 4th among starting catchers in MLB. He should be starting, period. Just like Macias "should be starting [in CF], period" because he's hitting .290 or over?
  5. Because of Barrett's defense, or lack thereof. Also, Blanco has come on strong lately with the bat.
  6. How long is Hairston out? Look, I'm not thrilled about acquiring a guy like Grissom, but when faced with the prospect of seeing Macias in CF everyday... get Grissom ASAP!!
  7. but won't be, because its the Cubs and Dusty Baker we're discussing about here. - PLEASE!!!! callup Corey Patterson. (you know how desperate the situation is when a person is begging to have Patterson called up!). I'm not gonna argue about Macias' "worth" to the team, its pointless, but there's a reason he's known for being an ok 25th man... and its NOT because he should be starting in CF everyday! Patterson may be having the worst offensive year so far, but its better having him out there defensively than watching guys score on singles, FROM 1st BASE!! :wall: - And Hendry needs to get Dusty to agree to play Matt Murton at least twice a week (Burny/CPatt in CF, Lawton/Burny in RF, and Matt in LF) or send him down to get him some quality playing time in AA or AAA! Matt and/or Ronny being sent down to make room for Corey. - PLEASE!!!! send Ronny Cedeno back down until 9/1. He's just "rotting" on the bench behind Nomar and Neifi. If Matt isn't sent down, then Ronny's leaving would make the necessary room to facilitate bringing Patterson back up. - If Macias is the "25th man" then Perez should #22, Barrett #23, and Hollandsworth #24. - Hendry should threaten Baker with something to get lineups like this for the majority of the time, at least until 9/1; RF Lawton -- 2B Walker 2B Walker -- LF Murton 1B Lee -- 1B Lee 3B Ramirez -- 3B Ramirez LF Murton -- RF Burnitz SS Nomar -- SS Nomar CF Patterson -- CF Patterson C Blanco -- C Blanco P pitcher -- P pitcher *9/1 and after* - make sure that Cedeno, Murton*, and Pie are part of the 15 guys called up in September
  8. Hell, I'd rather have Grissom in CF then Macias. I know, I know I know... "why the Macias hate? he's a great 25th man". blah, blah, blah. He still sucks.
  9. Iowa doesn't want him!
  10. than right now. No heart. Gutless. Manager makes it appear that he is dumber than a box of rocks. We are wasting away young talent on the bench just because the manager is a "players manager" and won't sit the veterans or "his guys" for better talent, because it is younger. I will never stop being a fan, but I gotta tell ya... I'm really starting to just look forward to September and football season.
  11. Had you asked this before the game on Friday, I'd have said, "sure, why not?". But now, even if we do win tonight, most likey HOU won't get swept by the SFG (Clemens pitching today), so at best, we'll still be 5 back after all the games are over tonight.
  12. Here's to hoping Dusty has a brainfart tonight and posts this starting lineup; CF Lawton 2B Walker 1B Lee 3B Ramirez LF Murton RF Burnitz -- not putting in Hollandsworth to give Burny time off SS Nomar C Blanco P Zambrano
  13. And Macias & Neifi will both bat left handed :wall: If Dusty's really not trying to get fired, he's sure doing a damned good impression of a man who does.
  14. Hell, if you're gonna dream, dream BIG! :D ; Opening Day 2006 2B Walker -- I'd like to see Soriano at 2B, but not enough money SS Nomar 1B Lee LF M.Ramirez 3B A.Ramirez CF Griffey -- if he finishes this year healthy RF Murton C Barrett/best available catcher money can buy P Prior
  15. One can only hope it'll provide the spark needed, but I don't see why this lineup can't be good most days and great some (Nomar hitting well and once in a while, Corey goes "nuts"); LF Lawton 2B Walker 1B Lee 3B Ramirez RF Burnitz SS Nomar CF Patterson C Barrett/Blanco Pitcher I know we gotta hit Corey 7th to prevent just pitching around him to get to the 9-spot, but if Nomar comes back on fire and not moved up to the 2-spot by Dusty quicky enough, he's gonna get pitched around alot to get to Patterson, if Corey stays in his slump.
  16. Nomar-Wood-Williamson get activated tomorrow, and now with Hairston's torn ligament in his elbow, that'll mean Corey gets called back up a few days earlier than expected. In; Nomar-Wood-Williamson-Patterson. Out; Hairston-Cedeno-Wuertz-Mitre?
  17. What I would do; Bring Corey back up, but work on a deal to get KG that will not cost us much, both in what would be given up and how much we'd have to take on of his salary. What Dusty will most likely do; Bring Corey back up, but will play Macias much more than ever should be done.
  18. We've become spoiled in the last few years by the NLCS in '02 and playoff-push runs the last couple years... this year is just your basic 1990's Chicago Cubs team ( minus the WC in '98 ).
  19. Take note Cubs. THAT's how you start an inning.
  20. Never fails. Better than Prior hitting into the DP, but I knew as soon as he sac-bunted, that was the end of the inning, effectively.
  21. If Barrett starts at ANY point this weekend, Dusty needs to be left in NY when the team goes home on Sunday night.
  22. Who wants to bet ARam gets stranded at 3B? Taking bets now.
