    True on all counts. But Nomar was a "pipedream" when we all first found about the rumor about trading for him last year, too. So as unlikely as getting Manny is this Deadline, its nevertheless something to keep in the back of the mind as Sunday rapidly approaches.

    I may be in the vast minority, but I don't want to see Todd Walker go. But if a deal for Soriano were to be made, Todd would almost have to go, wouldn't he? I don't see Soriano being a bench player. And if we trade for Soriano - and AS isn't going to play in the OF - iS's gonna be the everyday starter at 2B. IF Soriano would agree to play LF, I wouldn't mind dealing for him, but I don't like the idea of giving up a proven top-of-the-order guy like Walker, who can also man 2B very adequately.

    I read on another site that the Score said that the Cubs are only "mildly interested" in Soriano and that he does NOT want to be moved to the OF.

    Why? That's just ridiculous. Alright, that was over the top. But that Manny thread is now at 10 pages and it ain't all "we don't him" or "1000% chance of not getting him, so forget about it". Seems like more than a few people are really hoping and wishing it'll happen.

    I hope Jim wouldn't have to give up the farm to get Manny (if we were to), but if the deal was good enough in Boston's eyes, we might get them to take on a little bit of his contract money and/or get cash along with him in the deal. Jim has been a "miracle worker" as of late... a 3/4 team deal to get him just might unfold this weekend.

    Something tells me that if Manny Ramirez is not wearing Cubbie blue by Sunday, there's going to be ALOT of dejection amongst the fans here. Unless we can get another big name(s) and not give up the farm to do it.

    ? I mean, if Hendry pulls off another "Cubs get Nomar/Murton in a GREAT deal - day of Deadline" type of blockbuster like last year, everything will be great. But all there's been so far are some not-so-strong rumors and we usually have a really good idea of who and when by this time of the Trading Deadline... don't we? I was kinda excited about Kearns, but then you all are throwing out names like Manny Ramirez and Soriano, and all of a sudden, getting Kearns would be almost a "last ditch effort" now, IMO.

    Man, that'd be an AWFUL defensive outfield. Murton has a left fielder's arm. Burnitz is the good fielder of the bunch, but he's at his best in right. Manny...well. I know, but what you're losing defensively you're gaining offensively. Is Hairston's CF defense good enough to outweigh what Murton can do offensively, although Matt would be misplaced defensively?

    If we were to get Manny, could it be by the deadline (pipedream?), or would it not be unitl in the offseason?     I didn't think about it last night/this morning during the game, but wouldn't have "good baseball sense" told Dusty to have moved Burnitz over to CF and inserted Hollandsworth in RF? Oh wait, I forgot that "good baseball sense" and Dusty in the same sentence is what is known as an OXY MORON.

    Who made last out? Murton? Great... Cedeno, Macias, Walker Unless Cedeno gets on and Macias doesn't hit into a DP, we're screwed.

    Ok, time to go hypothetical again... how long would the umps let this go if its not decided in the next hour? Would they postpone it if still going on at 2:30-3a and finish it later today? Or just play it out and delay the start of today's game for a couple hours (3:20 start instead of 1:20)?

    How about that for trying to explain to the significant other?? "What do you mean you left at 5p on Tuesday afternoon for the game and didn't get back home until 2-2:30a on Wednesday, from the SAME GAME!??" I wonder how many people will have to be sleeping on the couch the rest of the week after this game? :lol:

    Can someone tell me why Ramirez is trying to hit balls out to RF when every long ball hit that way has been knocked down (save for Murton's 2B)?

    Is Ellison a leather magnet or what!? Jeezus. Seems like every ball hit to center seems to start one way and then curve right back to him.
