  1. LOL! So because he threw money at every free agent under the sun this makes him a good GM? Good one!
  2. Eric Patterson?
  3. And last week before the series at Wrigley he ripped Wrigley as usual and he said: "I don't say nothing about Cubs fans, the front office or the players". So he WAITS to go to the Cell before talking his trash about Cubs fans. He's full of crap and puts the D in douche. The inferiority complex that permeates through the entire organization, right down to their fans is pure gold. LOL!!!!! Stay classy, White Sox. :rotfl:
  4. Fixed for accuracy
  5. Can you explain to me why you mention Sean Marshall in every post? We get it, you don't have to keep saying it. You didn't answer the question.
  6. Can anyone tell me how only Sean Marshall has made an even moderate impact in the last 6 years of drafting. ANYONE? To say Hendry has little do with the draft is comical. He's our frggin GM! He is involved far more then you think.
  7. They sold high on DeRosa? LOL!!
  8. This alone tells me that there's heavy bias in your post, and thus makes it not even worth reading. You're basically saying that the architect behind the Cubs' best period of success in who knows how long should kinda sorta get some credit, but just a little. That's crazy. Yes, he's had money to spend. But high payrolls don't always equal success. Look around the league for numerous examples of that. Jim has his flaws, no GM in professional sports doesn't. But he's heavily responsible for the Cubs' success the last several years. And, of course, for the failures as well. Heavy bias? The state of the farm and the Cubs pathetic drafting under his watch is not bias, just pure facts. If you think otherwise, there's heavy bias in your post in favor of him.
  9. Give credit for him signing Derosa? Well, perhaps if he were: A: Still a Cub B: Wasn't traded for marginal prospects C: Not playing for the Cardinals DeRosa is not a good example. so the two years he was here never happened? I'm saying that he basically negated all of that by what he did with DeRosa in the off season. And once again, how about those splendid drafts? That's the main problem with Hendry. Repeat after me: Sean Marshall. That's what 6 years worth of drafting has produced.
  10. Give credit for him signing Derosa? Well, perhaps if he were: A: Still a Cub B: Wasn't traded for marginal prospects C: Not playing for the Cardinals DeRosa is not a good example.
  11. Ok, fair enough. However, do you REALLY think he'll ever make the big club? And how about the rest of his sad drafts?
  12. While I suppose he should get some credit for 3 division crowns in 6 years, he basically has bought those titles by having the biggest bank account. He also has made trades with teams that simply could not afford to keep their high profile players. We are stuck with guys like Soriano, Bradley and Fukudome as our outfield ( 40 mil a year for these guys) because of what you're about to see below. I think a GM should be judged on how he drafts and what the current state of his farm system is. Is there a team in all of Baseball that has a worse time producing position players and who's draft picks have made zero to little impact then the Cubs under Hendry's watch? I challenge anyone to find me a team that rivals this ineptitude. The farm system is a joke and ranks as one of the worst currently in Baseball. Lets look at the draft under Hendry and some of his "impact picks". 2003: Ryan Harvey. Bust! 2004: Grant Johnson: Bust! 2005: Mark Pawelek. Bust! 2006: Tyler Colvin. Bust! TJ surgery and still sitting in A ball. 2007: Josh Vitters. Still too early to tell but he might be the only one in this group who pans out to being a very, very good player. 2008: Andrew Cashner. Too early to tell. 2009: Brett Jackson. Too early to tell. Now, what's more frightening about this list is that it obviously doesn't show all of the picks under Hendry. Having said that, only Sean Marshall has made an even moderate impact at the big league level under Hendry's watch. That's right, Sean Marshall. How pathetic is that? So, we have a GM who can only throw the most money at free agent players and gives them ridiculous money contracts, trades with teams that can't afford their best players (See Pirates/A-Ram, Marlins/Lee) and signs stiffs such as Miles and Heilman to cement his worst off season to date. So, how much credit does he REALLY deserve? I say not much. Resign, Jim Hendry.
  13. I really doubt they group two of the three lefties at the bottom of the lineup. I agree with that. That said, what can you do here?
  14. Projected 2009 lineup Soriano Theriot Lee Ramirez Bradley Soto Fukudome Fontenot
  15. His OBP has been over .400 the last 2 years and it's at a .370 clip for his career. And we all know the guy can flat out hit! I like the move. He and Z will be fun to watch. 8-) All things considered, it appears the Cubs will be the favorites for their 3rd straight NLC crown.
  16. Levine just broke in at 3PM on the Mac, Jurko and Harry show. Milton Bradley has signed a 3/30 with the Cubs. Time to change the thread title. 8-)
  17. Done deal. Terms not disclosed. Hmm, bye bye Cedeno? Levine also said Marquis will be gone by the weekend and then it's back to the Peavy trade. Like I said, with Miles in the mix, Cedeno is out of here.
  18. It's official. A 1 year deal has been signed, terms not disclosed. This was reported by Bruce Levine a few minutes ago.
  19. *Breaking news* Bruce Levine just broke in to the Waddle and Silvy show and said the deal is hotter then ever. DeRo to Philly Happ to the Cubs, then to the Fathers. Marquis, Vitters and Hart to the Fathers Peavy to the Cubs. Could be done this afternoon. 8-)
  20. He was on the score at 3pm. He says Lee is expendable because he still has value and the Cubs must get more left handed hitters in the lineup. He basically said the Cubs can't win with the core group in the playoffs because they are suspect to good right handed pitching. Most of us know that but the D-Lee thing was interesting.
  21. 20 HR, 100 RBI for that "older then dirt" player. He's also two years younger then Manny. He's worth a two year deal. EDIT: 371 OBP as well. The guy can still play and play at a high level. Worth a two-year deal? Perhaps. Willing to sign a two-year deal? Doubtful. He's going to want at least three, possibly four. While he does do a good job of getting on base, his walk rate is also starting to decline. I might go three years if I had to. Lets face it, our offense is the problem and has been in the postseason the last two years. We have been worked over by dominant, right handed pitching. Imagine this: Roberts in a trade for Derosa. Fukudome Soriano A-Ram Abreau Lee Soto Cendeno or Theriot You're not going to get Roberts in a deal for DeRosa. Just isn't going to happen. And considering the Cubs had the best offense in the league, I find it odd to say the offense is the problem. Yes, they struggled in the postseason. But you don't say the offense is a problem based on a three-game sample. The pitching and defense played a large role in the Cubs playoff failures this season, so it's not fair to lay it all on the offense. I also find it odd that you want to trade DeRosa, considering your emphasis on postseason offense, when he did a good job with the bat this postseason. Even though it's a small sample size, his career postseason numbers are very good. I like DeRo, I just think we need to deal for Roberts and MacPhail will absolutely want DeRo in any package we give the O's. Yes, our pitching and D were not very good. However, our offense has never allowed our pitching and D to relax in the last two postseasons. We need to change the offense.

  24. In a perfect world, Kosuke works hard this off-season, fixes his swing and becomes the presence he was in April and May of 2008. The lack of a left handed bat killed this team again in the playoffs. If Kosuke moves to CF, sign Abreau or Bradley to patrol RF. Abreau is still putting up great numbers and so is Bradley. If you add one of these guys to the mix, our lineup is not going to be Neutralized in the playoffs.
  25. THEY GAWN!!! \:D/
