  1. I think we'll see a deal for another SP. I think Marquis is gone, and maybe Marshall. Isn't Howry's contract up? He will be replaced. I am sure there will be some moves no one sees coming (for better or worse). But realistically speaking, I think the Cards grossly overachieved this year and I can't see the Brewers not taking a step back. And then we will win the division again, with the best record in the NL, get home field advantage, hear Ron Santo tell us "THIS IS THE YEAR" and then lose in the NLDS again. Of course, I'll be back for it but after this year, I'm emotionally spent. The best Cubs team most of us have ever had, just got embarrassed. Same crap, different year.
  2. I have no idea what they will do but I honestly don't know how we can be expected to believe in ANYTHING they do. How much can you improve a 97 win team? It's not as if we are talking about the 85 win team from a year ago when you knew they had to get better. Even if they signed C.C., or traded for a Brian Roberts, I'll always think they'll choke. It's what they do, it's what they have always done.
  3. Just saying. ](*,) ](*,) :-" :-"
  4. This could be the quote of the century.
  5. And TWO reliable relief pitchers.
  6. Exactly. Anyone saying this team needs to be blown up is just being ridiculous. They're right back in it as is and arguably significantly better with just 1 or 2 tweeks. No, no, no!! If it happens once with the core group, fine. However, it's 0-6 with this collection of players. When it's money time, they crap the bed. They might be good regular season players, but they choke when it counts.
  7. Yeah, Hendry's an idiot. He put together a great team. It's not his fault they completely blew it. They are NOT A GREAT TEAM. They are exactly the same team as last year when it comes to winning when it counts. whatever No, it's truth.
  8. Yeah, Hendry's an idiot. He put together a great team. It's not his fault they completely blew it. They are NOT A GREAT TEAM. They are exactly the same team as last year when it comes to winning when it counts.
  9. Lee stepped up. He is NOT who I was talking about.
  10. I'd say Hendry knows who they are but then again, it's Hendry
  11. Tragicomedy ending coming? Maybe a bases loaded triple play?
  12. I would do it. How anyone would go to the actual convention is beyond me. Seriously, what could Pat Hughes (The master of ceremonies) say to the crowd? What could Dempster say?
  13. SO what? If he gets a HR, it'll be a one run dinger as nobody ahead of him will get on. That's what I was thinking

  15. This ought to make us hit the bottle harder tonight: The Milwaukee Brewers, who missed the playoffs entirely last year because of us and who lost the division to us this year, will more then likely have one more playoff win with ZERO division titles in those two years.

  17. Hey, I heard that Reed Johnson was good for us this year. Good thing he got to see a lot of action in the postseason.
  18. There should be a total and complete boycott at the convention next year. How the hell can the Cubs TRY and put a positive on that convention? "And here is your 97 win, back to back division champion, Chicago Cubs!" Of course, they wont mention the 0-6 playoff record assuming we lose tonight.
  19. I actually left the nearest bar because I was going to fight someone I need to go to a bar and drink
  20. Boo. This is going to get really, really ugly with the fans really, really soon. When the choke jobs start coming in rapid succession instead of every 20 years, it's not quite so lovable. Without question
  21. One of the most evident things I have noticed in the 07 and 08 playoffs is that you must have a leadoff hitter who sets the table. What we have seen is that while we may have won back to back divison titles, good pitching has owned Sori in the postseason. His lack of getting anything going (aside from 1 hit) sets a bad tone to every game. We are losing in the playoffs because of his inability to get things started. Brian Roberts, actually, would have been ideal. As for Soriano, he should hit third every game. Enough is enough.
  22. This is undoubtedly true. The fact that Lee has hit like Jeromy Burnitz over the second half of the season doesn't help. LOL at stranding Soto on 3rd. completely hamstrung us to the tun of 97 regular season wins with the same lineup we are not the first favored team to lose in the playoffs, guys Reading is fundamental. The theory is that you face more good right-handed pitching in the playoffs, and good right-handed pitching has advantage over good right-handed batting. "we are not the first favored team to lose in the playoffs, guys" We're the first ones in a while to have a playoff losing streak of 9 (Red Sox before the 90s, I think, hit 11). And again: We aren't just losing, we are getting annihilated. The reason good teams lose a lot is that sometimes your runs just are scored optimally and you win a game by 4 and lose two by one each. That's not happening here. They are getting utterly and completely destroyed every single game. Which tells you they (this group) can't handle playoff baseball.
