  1. 85 win team at best. How many games do the Cardinals win without Pujols? .500 team. What does that have to do with anything? Well, we're talking about the MOST valuable player, and you seem to equate value with how many wins a team gets without their best player. I was just comparing your assessment of Soriano's impact with your assessment of Pujols' Which has nothing to do with this years Cubs team. The numbers (team wise) do not lie when it comes to Sori's impact and value with THIS Cubs team. Add to that the numbers he is putting up personally and there is no doubt he should get strong consideration. If the numbers were projected over 162 games, he'd shatter anything ever put up from the leadoff spot.

  3. Have you seen the Cubs with and without him? Again, he is a leadoff hitter putting up these numbers. Yes, and who cares? If Lou decided to put him in the 5 spot and he put up the same numbers, would he be less of a candidate for MVP? If Houston decided Berkman should leadoff games, would that make him a better candidate for MVP? What a team does over the first 24 games a player returns from injury is a completely meaningless bit of trivia that has absolutely nothing to do with MVP voting. Just look at the record for the entire year with and without him.
  4. 50-20 with him, 26-28 without him. Jut saying.
  5. They are beyond ridiculous. That said, take the numbers away and look at the record of the team. The Cubs are something like 26-28 this year when he was injured. They are a crazy 50-20 when he is in the lineup leading off. Len and Bob, if you are lurking, start the train rolling for Sori tonight on the air.
  6. Not really. He's missed a week.
  7. Have you seen the Cubs with and without him? Again, he is a leadoff hitter putting up these numbers.
  8. Hear me out here. Since Sori's return, the Cubs have gone 18-6 and scored 6.4 runs per game. When he was out, the Cubs went 16-18 and scored a mere 4.4 runs per game. If you project his numbers for a whole season, they would equate to about 48 HR and 130RBI. Those are sick numbers. Not only that, these are numbers from a leadoff hitter. Soriano=MVP!
  9. Aside from him wanting to go west, signing him is becoming a risky endeavor. True, he might be damaged goods by then.
  10. Lou is actually pretty terrible about overworking pitchers in blowouts too. Not as bad as Yost though. Have they said anything about Braun? He whiffed in the 7th and was in a lot of pain after the swing. I'd be shocked if he doesn't hit the DL. That's an injury that involves muscle and in the spot it's located, he'll never be 100% this year.
  11. Don't worry, C.C., only a month and a half to go and then you can start thinking what it will be like to pitch for the Cubs. 8-) :hello:
  12. Makes me glad we have Piniella and Lou isn't exactly a genius. However, as far as pitch management, Lou is strong. My biggest beef with Lou is his burning off position players at the wrong time. But compared to Ned Yost, Lou is Sparky Anderson. 8-) What is Yost thinking there? They showed Sebathia after the final out and he didn't even react, he looked either gassed or really pissed.
  13. Reed's defense is every bit as good as Fukudome.
  14. I like adding another 1.5 games to the lead while on the road. Left 4 up, come home 5.5 up. The season clock is ticking down. 8-)
  15. BALL GAME!! That hurts ,eh, Brewers?
  16. You mean there are hitters batting in the 3 hole who actually hit homers? This must be a falsehood. Kemp with a single. Win it now, Dodgers.

  18. Who is? I just love the fact that we are 9 games clear of them in the loss column for a playoff spot. That's sexy!
  19. And with the Cardinals getting pasted, we are about to be 9 games clear of a playoff spot in the loss column with 38 games to go. If the Dodgers do their part, it will be 6 over the Brewers in the loss column. 76-48 and 16 out of the last 20 have been http://images.quickblogcast.com/6/1/2/8/1/126640-118216/WhiteFlagBlueW.jpg
  20. We owed Florida that 8 spot, not as big, but certainly sweet! Reed Johnson is the signing of the year. Suck it, Marlins organization!
  21. Ada boy, Kosuke. 5-2! That's a big run and a great job on an 0-2 pitch. I really do love this team. 8-)
