The magic number stays at 14. If the Phillies win tonight it again stays at 14 As of now it's 13. If they lose tonight it's 12. They'd be 8 or 7 back with 19 to play.
You have to love the ever present, head in the sand apologists that are always ready to add their excellent insight. The Cubs lost like that today and here they are, offering little as usual, other then getting their post count up.
Ummm, Milwaukee had to face Peavy and Young in back to back games. The Padres are the 27 Yankees next to that pathetic Reds team that we lost a series to. I'd say losing 5 of 6 to a bad Astros team and a pathetic Reds team would be melting down.
I think Milwaukee will take care of the Reds in sweeping fashion. I really expect us to lose two of three in STL, which will reduce the division lead to 2 games. Then we get to go to Houston. This division lead could and should get very dicey by the end of the week. The Cubs are melting down. That's a pathetic loss today. I know Cedeno is getting trashed but Wood was the guy who loaded the bases. I'm not saying Cedeno shouldn't have made the play, but that ball took a high hop. I'm far more disgusted in Wood losing Valentin after having him 0-2. Bad offense, bad defense and another loss.
They deserve everything they get. The blew chance after chance on offense, continued to play pathetic defense and are showing exactly why they might blow it. Now it's 19 straight against teams with winning records and the next 6 are in STL and Houston. Can you say 2-4 would be a hopeful 6 game stretch?
You'd have to think Hendry and the rest of the Cubs brass has to be shaking their heads at giving Fukudome that contract now. If they had to do it over, they'd have let him go to the Padres.
Other then brief stretches, he hasn't been the same since the wrist injury True but Lee said the other day that he's healthy and feels great. He said he is personally not happy with his seaon but all he cares about is that the team is doing so well.
I do not think Lee is capable of driving a Baseball to left center anymore. He's the biggest mystery in Baseball as far as someone losing their power so dramtically so fast.
Well, I took a lot of heat for saying Sori should be an MVP candidate and maybe it's justified. That said, he's our most important player in terms of this offense. When he's on, we win. When he's not, we lose.
Cental lead down to 4. At least Peavy is going tomorrow for the Padres in case we still need to rely on other teams to do our work for us. The Cubs had better wake up or they'll be a wild card entry.
It's actually 8.5 and 8 after we lose tonight. with 21 games to go. The cubs are fine. better to struggle now than 4 weeks from now We are fine for a postseason spot but if we blow this division and HF advantage, I'll be sick about it.
If I'm Lou I empty the bench and get the starters out. It's a wet field and this game is well over with. There is no need to risk an injury to a starter. Then, after the game, I tear this team a new one.
